DMS X-Partz Lipo battery strap for X6
As some of you may have read already in the "slipper" thread, we have now finalised our all new one piece carbon fibre battery strap for the X6 for use with LIPO batteries.
The pre-production straps are being test fitted to several cars tonight and tommorow to check fit etc and if all is correct the first production run starts on thursday. We should have stock in and ready to go by friday afternoon. Once they have been signed off we will release the first photos/cad images of them which should be tommorow afternoon, they will then be added to the X-Factory UK website with the price confirmed too (which we hope to be around £18/19). All I can say is they are super sexy and really look the part, they are one single piece and made from 3mm carbon fibre, the design looks awesome when fitted on the car, wait till you all see them...... Hopefully available through all good X-Factory dealers from Monday 22nd December |
|
will all the fixings be included because i presume they wont fit straight on without any mods to the chassis ?
|
Leon, no mate, IMHO much nicer and uber cool - similiar (ish) layout (nothing against the one in your image, we were offered that one to sell but we already had our own one in the pipeline).
Jono, the plan is to sell it as just the strap, we will be recommending that you use two AE style thumb screws for the front mounting and it utilizes the original rear mounts that we already use. We may well do a "mounting kit" seperate, we will see but the plan is that instructions for fitting will be included in the packet of each one. Pictures will be released for the first time tommorrow, we think you will like what you see..... |
sounds good looking forward to the pics

come on man dont keep us waiting :)

Hence why it will be tommorow guys, its worth the wait I promise!! (looking at my test one on the car now, it fits awesome and looks "the nuts") |
Take pic of your car LOL.:D

Funny enough I just have on my phone, but the camera we use for the website photos is kept at the shop too. Got an image on my phone if you want it texting!!! PM me...

As you can see the two rear mountings use the original posts from the kit, the front two will be secured with thumbcrews threaded down into the the two "chassis bosses" either side of the "two cell box".
My own car (the one in the photo) currently has these two bosses filed away for easier fit of my ESC and RX in their old postions but I am preping a new chassis as we speak tonight which will have the thumbscrews in place for the front two mounting holes, LIPO across the middle and ESC moved to the centre (mounted on two carbon plates to sit over the cell holes which we are working on too). Hope you all like, available from all of our X-Factory dealers either very late this week or early next..... |
i am impressed !!
|
buzzing ive got an order to do tomoz so ill call you :)
|
Very nice but I am in the same boat nothing to attach the thumb screws to will have to get a new chassi:woot:.
|
Ace, Darren, as always.
Spencer, could you drill & counter-sink holes to use flat-head screws up from the bottom? With all the battery-box bracing there, shouldn't hurt. |
Chazz, shouldn't you be asleep? :o
|
Chazz may have the beginnings of man-flu  when we spoke via email earlier he was not good (i reckon the brit lads took it over to the clash with them....)
Anyway, straps have been test installed completly to all cars this evening, we are making a couple of "slight" alterations and then the completed CAD file is off to production first thing in the morning. IF all goes according to plan, first batch will be made tommorow and shipped and could well be with us by Friday!! We are reccomneding the use off the AE Blue thumb screws for the front installation (we have purchased EVERY pair CML had/are having this side of new year) but users will need to use a longer 4-40 threaded rod of approx 20mm, this will be advised in the instructions in the packet with the strap. First batch is of 50 only, we have already had around 15 emails and 25 pm's from people interested in these, so when they go online we suggest be quick.... |
t
one for me please!!!
|
Holy crap that's nice!!! :woot:
|
Am I the only one who thinks it's gay ? (nothing personal here, also not to the designers)
it's a racing car not a cartuning showmodel... |
No, you're just homofobic ;)

I think its everyone likes diffrent things some people like having blue ball cups and bumpers and motor guards persoanlly i hate them i like my car all black (exscept for the shell) its personal opinion i like it.

what size holes will i need to drill in the chassis posts to use ae thumb screws and threaded rods ?
|
i think a 1.5mm drill bit should do the job fine then use a 4/40 tapping screw
