The Gadget Show

Guys,

Just in case you didnt see it, channel five next monday, the Gadget show will be testing buggies and trying to break a jumping record (probably the one I saw on record breakers when Roy Castle was alive).

I did notice that the new Cat buggy was on it so should be worth a look.

blitzboy 09-12-2008 05:59 PM

guess who painted the shell errr me i ve been told by a relable source that they used leon morrel s cat for the jump as you ll know at worksop he s been playing a bit there too

muzzy 09-12-2008 06:32 PM

Well................

Yes your right, tune into The Gadget Show next Monday the 15th December at 8pm on channel 5, As you shall see myself, Leon Morrell, Andrew Carter, James Mac and Ben (rocketman haha) as we went along to film all this with The Gadget Show!!!
I'm not allowed to tell you what happened or any outcome but you shall see us teaching Suzi Perry how to drive the Schumacher Cat SX buggy, and teaching Suzi how to control the car as she attempted to jump the Cat SX and break the Guinness World Record for the longest official jump. (Not as easy as you might think!!!) Also I drive a Schumacher Mi3.5 with a Brushless motor and attempt a Fast speed run on a drag strip! We also attempt to run a Schumacher Menace Gtre 3 speed electric powered car up the drag strip with rockets attached to the rear of the car to help thrust it along when we launch the rockets!!!!
Tune in to see what happens, but Im sure you won't be disappointed with what you see and it was great fun filming it all. Looks pretty spectacular too when you have got lots of different angle shots from several tv cameras!!!!!

Above all though it will be great to see some good Rc action on the tv for everyone to tune into and watch and hopefully it might encourage more and more people to get involved in the sport!! :D

Crazy L 09-12-2008 06:42 PM

I dont suppose you also taught that ol' bint Perry how to actually be a decent Moto GP presenter? I hate that bird, she gets on my tits:mad:.

Might take a look at the show If I get time though, I bet something breaks on the Menace:lol:

carter_213 09-12-2008 07:30 PM

We didnt teach her much to busy looking at her........................... well i was anyway lol

leon morrell 09-12-2008 07:44 PM

mate i cant belive you think she's so bad .
i would rather have her doing the moto gp than some fat bloke who sweats too much...

in person she's really sound down to earth and normal :) not stuck up at all...

she also picked up the driving pretty well to say she had never driven anything like that before
and she managed to get my cat through a gap were the timing beems were at very high speed that was only about 2 m wide

i will also say how cold it was it was -2 all day with ice on the run way i thought my hands and feat were going to drop off lol funny stuff

Northy 09-12-2008 08:40 PM

Wow...afew minutes of breaking cars off a big ramp...and now they are talking about Toys'R'Us RC toys that 'appeal to the RC enthusiast'

What a load of wank

Spoolio 15-12-2008 08:48 PM

Oh, I dunno. That indestructible buggy does 24kph so its "seriously nippy". I could use that round Worksop I could, it'd be faster than my B4 .

Seriously tho, I know they have to cater for the majority but why do they have to be so patronising about it.

antnee 15-12-2008 08:49 PM

How many newbies do you think are going to spam the forums in the next few days?

oh i dunno :eh?:

Bucket load of outdrives etc :woot:

dan_kitty 15-12-2008 09:13 PM

would easily clock up to £1200 with top notch electrics, radio, battery n charger i reckon. good to see rc on telly

be great if they covered a big race like a national one day

MattW 15-12-2008 09:14 PM

Quite easily i'd guess - if you buy car, b/l gear, lipo, KO radio etc.

rowanp25 15-12-2008 09:14 PM

good question! how do you make a cat 1200 quid? i mean the shell was still on tight so at most a 4 cell lipo saw the mamba in there....................still no where near 1200...........ah that it the accoms techniplus handset! thats some serious kit:woot:

MRD 15-12-2008 09:18 PM

I like how they're using cheapo rtr transmitters with a "£1200" CAT.

mambamax 15-12-2008 09:20 PM

gadget no show

what a load of crap were was they getting there facts and info from what made me laugh the most was the cost of the cars some one must be smoking some good cronic that day

mark christopher 15-12-2008 09:21 PM

to all the doubters/sceptics/wise asses
instead of knocking it why dont you all go out and do somin better............................................ .................thought not youd rather sit on your ass moaning bought what others have done!!!

see it for what it is exposure the the world of rc, on a high profile techno tv show, after all tescos do a tv for £60, but the review high end ones, so why not rc high end? it showed there is a technical side to rc and not just toys r us!(did i say it was on a tech tv show)
go check out prices rrp
car
brushless gear
lipo
servo
charger
radio

soon adds up despite what we tell our wifes!

Suzie used my KO radio all day,i saw more of that then i did myself! :eh?:

Neil Skull 15-12-2008 09:45 PM

gadget show

Well i watched it and it was ok.

It really did not give a good picture or even recognise that the RCworld has a serious and strong following and that if they had tried hard they could have had some serious distance on the jumps and some serious speed with the right vehicles.

That said it is still exposure I loved the rocket car and the twin MP777 (now current guiness record holder)

believe me i have tried hard to get some more rc onto the show the best i have done so far is a review for a micro truck on the website:(

I have offered helicopters (not stupid toy ones they show every time)
Jets.
Micro racers.

It shows it is not what you can do but who you know.
All we need is a stud among rc racers to get Suzi on board! Trouble is we dont get many of those in our hobby!!!!!!

But i think we have to keep in context their reviews on stuff is always biased and does not give a complete list of stuff available.

So it is just for fun and did do a bit of promo for RC, even if they did manage to break every car they touched.

Tim Ward 15-12-2008 09:55 PM

We watched it - our daughter's boyfriend quite enjoyed it, and he has raced my spare B4 and driven my HN RX car, so he has some sense of what we do.

Exposure is always good - the only shame was a lack of mention of how to get into the sport BRCA etc. But having worked with the media a few times I know that they have a very fixed view of what they want from the item.

Well done Schumacher, Muzzy, Leon, Mac, Carter etc - any publicity at all is better than nothing.

leon morrell 15-12-2008 10:07 PM

oi you tails lol:) i pissed my self as much as you did when they said rc camp i laughed my tits off ..

but you no what tv people do with editing..

all in all it wont do our sport any harm.

regards cat price they asked how much to build my car from new to as it stood there...

tranny lipo and charger speedo etc

car £350 tranny £350 speedo £185 motor £80 lipo £75 charger £50 servo £100 pro painted shell £35

they were round figures!

if we had more than 2 days to desighn and build all three cars they would have been much faster

some good pr for schumacher and the sport in general ..

MRD 15-12-2008 10:14 PM

Agreed. At least they got people in that know the sport rather than trying to blag it. It always makes me cringe when TV shows feature stuff that they know nothing about and get every fact wrong.

leon morrell 15-12-2008 10:27 PM

yeah nice people to work with but its a shame they didnt show the other
stuff we did muzzy drove an elctriccar we built to just under 100mph that looked fast.. and she did do jumps with the cat and they were good but never showed them.

i jumped the cat and went miles but the guiness bloke said it wouldnt count because the car bounced as it landed ...

the ramp was way to steep aswell but they had a expert work it out lol :)

oh well still good for the sport.

Rich D 15-12-2008 10:27 PM

What wind was it in the CAT for the 55mph run Leon ?

What became of the monster TC that i saw on the table at Worksop with the huge Lipo ? I thought that would be going for the record.

I had to listen through one ear as had guests arrive at last minute

leon morrell 15-12-2008 10:30 PM

monster tc did just under 100 but would o0f gone faster if we had more time only had one day to do it all ..

55mph was using a orion vortex race 3.0t

antnee 15-12-2008 11:21 PM

Looked like a good day, shame I didnt end up going. Like how you schuey lads only had 2 days, we at Team Modellinc knew about it about 2 months before! :p

It was funny how they called Chris's (twin engine buggy owner) passat estate a lorry van people carrier thing! lol

quincey 16-12-2008 05:36 PM

the bit that hacked me off was the presenters kept calling them "remote" controlled cars...
