How to dye wheels
Guys,
I am trying to dye my wheels but have not got a clue how to do it. I admit I am useless at trying to figure it out myself so please can some one give an idiot guide on how to dye these poxy wheels and what dye you use. Cheers. |
Sharpies :thumbsup::lol:
Dylon (powder) from Hobbycraft, use an old pan and add the wheels to simmering water with dye in, leave in until darkened enough. Then rinse under cold tap. Wear gloves, and don't put anything in you don't want dying. |
Use hot water dye:thumbsup: Dont dye your wheels... they'll look gay :) stick with white :)

Chris,
Hobby craft dont do this dye. Would it be this item? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...%3D4%26ps%3D41 Im going to do this hopefully this month or next. The wheels finish it off nicely. |

Check out the following, should be of help....:thumbsup: http://How to dye lylon bits...!!! |
Thanks. RIT dye is the way to go. So easy, bung it into the boiling water, reduce the temperature so it is just below simmering and bung in the wheels for 7 to 10 mins. The water didnt boil or simmer at all and the dye didnt spoil the pan either so well impressed. I will post pics soon.:thumbsup:
|
Were did you get the RIT dye from pal?...is it readily available??
|
Ebay. I only used 3 quarters of the packet.

Picys attached for the colour of the wheels after I dyed them. Fuscia is the colour and is really close to the shell colour.

My ZXS prototype thats still being developed. I will post pics sometime soon without shell, but I still have a few items to trial first before I post pics of the finished product. Are you doing the Petit event in January, as I will be there racing it. |
Looks great James!Manolis
|
Cheers. Manolis only made one bit which i currently use and is the rear shock tower mount as the original broke if you breathed on it. he also made me an alloy front gearbox which should be in the tate as its a work of art, however im saving that for when serious strength is required on the front.
Ive designed a new better chassis, updated the diffs, top deck, servo positioning and my friend Matt Lovett has made me new stronger gearbox casings. Im going to test layshaft gears in september and hope to do diffs as well. Im also working on the slipper system to better it and designing a servo saver. |
