Benfield Winter Series Round 3- Sunday 14th December 2014
 

Ladies and gents
The club would like to invite you to book in, attend and support round 3 of the series, juniors and senior drivers will run both 2wd and 4wd class. (Please note drivers who have attended previous rounds will have priority in bookings in)
There will be trophies for the winner of each class and a special price for the under 16 class. (The future of the sport)
at the end of the series.

The meetings will be held at:
Benfield Sports Centre
Benfield Road
Walkergate
Newcastle uponTyne NE6 4NU
The dates are as follows:

Round 3 – December Sunday 14th 2014
Round 4 - January Sunday 18th 2015
Round 5 - February Sunday 15th 2015 ( date may change)

Fee - £8.00 per class. Or £15.00 for both classes per round
U16 - £5.00 per class. Or £8.00 for both classes per round.

The club would like to encourage you to book in, in advance by PM K-Brewer or email [email protected] confirming the round / date you would like to attend.

Please note: Revised Opening / Booking in / Practice / Start times
Doors will open at 7.00 am. Booking in Practice will be 7.15-7.45 am followed by drivers' briefing 7.50 We aim to have heats on the line at 8.00 am with the intention of finishing the meeting no later than 4 pm. Please note: The trophies and prizes presentation will be at the end of the Series, once the track has been cleared, and drivers will need to be present to claim any prizes. payments can be made on the day,

Cancelations: Due to the number of no shows from the last round.
we respectfully ask you to give at least 48 hours’ notice prior to the event to allow me time offer any vacancies to people who wish to attend. And amend the heat listing for a quicker start to the day. payments can be made on the day.

TRACK PREPARATION IS ON SATURDAY 4PM –6pm VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED TO HELP LAY OUT THE TRACK AND PUT AWAY AFTER MEETING.

Hot and cold food is available. ( Waitress service available )
Benfield radio controlled Buggy club runs 6.30 pm until 10pm every Friday. (all are welcome)

What age group should a 10 year old be in?
Just noticed you do a junior juniors.

The club supports and try's to develop the younger drivers as they are key to securing the future of the sport hobby.
the club invests a lot of time and effort bringing through new younger drivers and we allocate a separate heat for the junior junior driver who are in the main the youngest members of the club and a little less established and skill full as the junior drivers.

we feel in this way it reduces the pressure on them and they are more consistent, which in turn helps them develop and gives them a target to aim for with moving in to the more competitive junior heats,
it also allow the more established junior drivers to go at a speed where they are not restricted by slower drivers, and intern helps them to be more consistent.

Sorry for the long explanation and I hope it make's sense.

if you feel Jamie would be suited and would enjoy running in the junior junior heats we can switch heats. at the end of the day we want every participant to enjoy the events. and the fantastic sport / hobby.

Thanks Paul, I'll leave him in the juniors just now, i just wondered if you had them split by age. We don't have separate heats for juniors up here, so just racing with other folk nearer his age will probably be more enjoyable for him. Looking forward to next week, cheers.

Paul will the track be similar to the last one, with only part carpeted, or all carpets?

There will be more carpet in this round guys, it's probably nearly gonna be all carpet

Any reason why? I think the current track style has been very good and challenging.

Have to say, not attracted to "all carpet" racing. I'd have kept running touring cars then...

We will be running a similar set up with mixed wood floor and carpet
however we will be placing the carpet on areas of the track where cars may get stuck and additional protection / carpet around the jumps.


unfortunately the floor was damaged by drivers spinning up whilst getting stuck on the track markings during the last round and we have a possible claim against us for the damage. and we have to take smart measures to reduce the risk any further damage and a larger claim.

That's good news.

Shame a few "diddies" (scottish word?) have to spoil it!

It's a great series and it's working very well, so really looking forward to more of the same this time out.

I agree , all or nothing with the carpet . Racing on wood floor was in the 80's man .

So .... is this an opportunity for a Pre 1990 vintage class? Taking it back to the 80's! :thumbsup:
