Unfortunatly hobbyking are not good for the uk model shop industry

andy110m 24-11-2014 02:21 PM

On the contrary Mark, I'd view this as an effort to support a low cost class by sharing information in a price conscious time.

Maybe you have a fair point/comment responding to a long term oopler, but this is this guys first post back so I'm left wondering, did your parents not bring you up with the time tested old rule of "if you have nothing nice to say, please say nothing at all?"

Welcome back to the hobby Wig, hope you enjoy your racing.

mark christopher 24-11-2014 03:26 PM

Nope I was taught to say what it think., there are model shops struggling in the uk and supporting a company that does use loopholes and not contribute to our economy is not good for any class, further more the linked electrics are not brca approved for sanctioned meetings and many new racers are buying them and falling foul of that.

I'll second that.
After all Hobbyking have staff working in there UK warehouse, and they don't sell everything, so Wig will probably make further purchases from some UK model shops, and if he does not it's not our business where he chooses to spend his money.
Welcome to the forum and the hobby Wig.

Wig 24-11-2014 04:16 PM

wow, I wasnt expecting that.

Mark, you obviously have more disposable income that me, well done
& yes I had also just spent nearly 3 times as much at Modelsport, hopefully that will make you a little happier.

Thanks to the other guys for your warm welcomes.

Wig

Unfortunately the longer you read Marks comments the more you do expect it from him.

Dandare 27-11-2014 09:28 PM

Hi Wig, I bought this ESC & motor (7.5t) for my R12r5.1 pan car & so far they're working great. The only issue was you need the program card linked below which isn't (yet) available in the UK. Though the SkyRC program card may well work with the right firmware. The ESC isn't set to blinky so you'll need the card to do this too.

Program. card req'd:

Happy racing fella.

I see your just as nice on oople Mark as on on fb gt12 group will you ban him from there for asking questions that you don't agree with answers from other users ..

tcboy1983 28-11-2014 01:14 AM

Plus mark some how miss read they guys comment as he said its for club racing no ref to going to Brca?
I also used hobby king a lot and my local model shops
Also some uk only based shops over order stuff to get it cheaper to undercut everyone meaning the smaller shops end up matching and losing almost all the mark up they had or lose the sale, so you can blame some uk based shops just as much as hobbyking

Any way I think wig is the right person to have in the sport looking after the poor racer that can aford the big pocket brands

Nope I can read, you did not read my comment correctly, it says others are falling foul of it not being brca approved, nothing about the op or where he is using it.....and those uk model shops don't over order? They simply invest to make more money, they still pay their taxes etc unlike HKing.that's just a shop owner with a good business head

To both of you, least im brave enough to show my real name.......

When I first started back in RC 5 years ago after a near 20 year break the forums were all talking about supporting the LHS and moaning about hobbywing stuff but now look in every online RC shop Hobbywing!
It will only be a matter of time before Turnigy stuff ends up on the shelves of LHS's and good cos most of the top brand stuff is probably made in the same factories to the same standards but more expensive as it has this sticker on!!!
Where hobbyking falls short is not approaching the BRCA with there products for approval but again this will come.

When all this happens I'm sure the prices will increase slightly but the bigger brands will have to come down to compete so again all good.

For club level if it's got good reviews and you can afford it go ahead no point arguing about what we do for fun but bear in mind if you want to go to the nationals ect be prepared to replace it all for tried and tested brands.

hammersien 28-11-2014 10:23 PM

well i have always use the hammerstien or hammersti3n in forums or sites as its been my gamer tag since late 90's so easy to find me anywhere on the net . had to use this spelling as others were taken. and most don't want to put really names as wouldn't trust you not to ban them from gt12 facebook group as they have a different opinion to you Mark .. thanks and later you keyboard warrior

Odly the brca have approached them to try to get thier stuff approved, they were unable to provide the relevant documents, and their current lipos are not roar approved.....

Ah so its just sour grapes....

This thread is down right embarrassing for our hobby/sport!

To the OP, hope your kit works well and welcome back! Trust me most of us are very friendly and are willing to give advice as and when possible. I understand that Hobbyking are very tempting and undoubtably they have helped many people like yourself into RC car racing, which is a good thing.

Mark, your efforts are appreciated in helping to promote this hobby/sport, especially in GT12. I just feel that a change in tack to forums would work better.
