KF Stadium Truck...
2 Attachment(s)
Fancied a bit of truck racing, but as no Schuey truck is available I thought I would convert a KF to stadium trim using some odd bits I had to see how it went..
Ran it briefly for the first time last week and its ballistic... :D |
Looks good, what did you use to convert it?
|
Its basically TC02T shafts & wishbones that have been re-drilled and narrowed on the rear, with the fronts re-driled and spaced to fit the schuey bottom plate..
Rear body mount was some random touring car thing that was narrowed to suit and fronts are TC02T re-drilled and in place of the front shock tower fasteners. Pretty simple, but drives awesome! |
All ways think these are the future instead of those sc things
|
ST are way way cooler than SC I don't know how anyone could think otherwise!!!
|
Chuff me, that's a lot of ribs to remove on the front tyres!!
Where do you run? Any vids of the heats? |
I run at Silverstone, so its indoor astro... very high grip.. It really needs another row off as I had to limit the steering to 45% throw!!
I've only run it once at the winter series last week, but it was already 3 seconds faster per lap than everyone else... and that was without actually trying to get it set up.. Don't think there was any video unfortunately. And yup, ST all the way!! |
Love this, it's about time Schumacher produced one of these!

I'd like to see a KF short course :)

Schumacher short course
I'd like to see the schumacher sc in production
|
i just want longer rear shocks so i can finish my svr truck properly
|
Ran the truck again tonight... I love it... :wub
On a sub 18 second lap I was half a second slower than with my KF and consistent, pretty good for an ST! I thought it needed longer shocks, but happy with it as it is.. :D |
Can you post a full list of parts needed to convert the KF and pictures of any modifications. I'd love to do this to make a fun truck for practice nights 😃

But seriously, your truck last night was awesome, first time I've ever seen a truck that looked like it really handled at Silverstone. |
Parts list is earlier in the thread, I don't have part numbers as such as I had the bits laying around..
You're right Nige... need to stop trying to run two cars in one night and concentrate on one or the other!! :D |
I'm looking to do something with either my KF or KF2
Are the dimensions of the latest stadium trucks the same, i.e. Do they have longer chassis etc Cheers |

Based on the kits above, why is the 2.2" wheel diameter used over the 2.8"?
|
Just to note, if you run the Team C wishbones up front it ends up around 6mm longer, so around 291mm ish..
Still got mine, in bits waiting for a reason to put it back together :) |
The below is my highly modified Storm 2000 released around 1992/93, this was probably Schumacher's last racing Stadium Truck! With the Storm 2000 you could have it Nitro or electric

Thinking of building a truck ont of a KF2 that I have extra. Is there any other brand of wishbones that can fit KF2? Anyone now dimensions of rc10t5 arms?
|
kyosho rt5 or 6 arms and driveshafts should work..front axles too

i believe they should be fine..i did use hpi driveshafts(firestorm i believe) on my svr stadium truck...losi use to use the bigger ball on their driveshafts
|
I imagine short course arms/driveshafts would be easier to source to convert a KF2 to a stadium truck? What about some of the real cheap Team C/Ansmanns or even the Hobbyking shortcourse truck as a donor?
The stadium parts don't seem all that easy to find! |
Just use the TeamC TC02T/Hyde... or Ansmann Macnum bones, shafts etc...
Loads on eBay cheap and worked well on my KF ST.... see first post... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Team-C...wAAOSw0vBUY3GL http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Team-C-Hyd...wAAOxy0QtR-8-4 Bit expensive trying to use Kyosho parts! Oh and a ball diff helps take the strain off the belt... I have one for sale if anyone needs one :) |
How difficult to do were the mods Adam? I might be interested in doing this conversion.

So its a matter of drilling the wishbone inner hinge pin holes to match the Schumacher pin diameter, and spacing to fit the bulkhead gaps. I am guessing longer turnbuckles will be required, what about the outer hinge pins, bearings, front axles, rear hexes to match the driveshafts? Any brand of wheels you would recommend, along with a bodyshell?
Cheers  |
This is way too tempting! Always loved stadium trucks, someone delete this thread before I empty my wallet on a 2nd KF2 :p
Other than your 2x links there, anyone else looking to convert will also need longer turnbuckles and then what wheels and bodyshell have you used Adam? EDIT: Just realised I asked the same thing as Stuey. If bearings, wheels etc are needed then perhaps a complete donor is worth while? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1614340712...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT |
Mine was a complete TCO2T, so basically used the complete corners with links/hubs etc..
Could have used the KF hubs etc, but had the team C bits all built up... Same for the wheels and shell, although any ST wheels would be ok and I am sure there are better shells. I would say the complete donor kit would be the cheapest option.. |

At the diff output side, what is the diameter of the Team C/Ansman driveshaft cross pin and ball? |

How did you get on with the car?
|
it went beyond expectation. Did not test is so mutch. Drove new KC mostly of the day but it was good and above al it was very fun to drive. Going to race it on sunday.

Is there greater play with these driveshafts in the diff outputs than with the stock Schumacher driveshafts? Also, is the diameter of the cross pin 2.5mm like the Schumacher driveshaft or is it thinner (e.g. 2.0mm)? |
Be careful of the belt if using a gear diff or a tight slipper..
I ended up with a ball diff and ran the slipper a tiny bit looser then normal. |
