import tax

hi steve. have you tried to get parts in marked up as gift? worksfor me a treat. ;):o:p:lol:

DCM 15-06-2009 10:25 PM

if you ask them, and you get caught, thats freud, if you don't ask, you can't be done, most places mark it up $50, but apparently, with the high volume of stuff from HK/Asia, they are pulling a higher percentage at customs now :(

millzy 15-06-2009 10:26 PM

14 quid is the limit for a gift in customs

i rang and asked when my tekin gear got stoped

DCM 15-06-2009 10:39 PM

if it is marked as a 'gift' and is over the rateable value, then you pay a different amount of taxes on it, as the postage isn't taken into account, when it is a commercial item, you pay duty on the value + shipping, then VAT on the value+shipping+duty

bigred5765 15-06-2009 10:44 PM

if you get them to list it as scale model car or parts it isnt taxable,and thats was from someone that dealt with customs all day,

millzy 15-06-2009 10:44 PM

all i know is it was guttting but i wasnt letting my top line tekin gear sitting there to get lost lol

thats how my stuff comes in, from HK, Model car parts, and they still get hit now.

bigred5765 15-06-2009 10:55 PM

must be listed as scale model car/parts, if they hit you with charges just remind them its a non taxable item and get them to check,
ps as soon as i get the divley ill return post it to you cheers again
