This is the old layout but the surfaces are the same and the new layout is very similar. Not sure if there might be some more changes before the national any-hoo. |

Sorry guys for leaving early. Incase you are wondering, the reason was the lack of ability to listen by the club. They were told that the jumps were poor after practice and minimum effort was put into fixing it. Craig even discovered the down side of ramp 2 would have made a better up ramp - but not enough action when they had the chance before round 1.
So in round 1 I manage perhaps 2 clean laps at best, and I come down from the rostrum a tad frustrated - which i did voice to Ben (our only representative from the BRCA who should be representing its members?). Nothing was being done and I wasn't enjoying myself so I chose to leave and I raced a different class elsewhere where I had a fab day. I now wish to cancel my remaining entries from Micro. If id have travelled any more than I did to get to Macc then id have been a little more angry - and so im not bothering. Hope Craig and Tony took the first two positions. On a positive note, Maccs new venue is excellent, and the food is great. Spoilt by the track jumps. It is probably awesome for 2D racers, its certainly prepared and presented well and is a credit to those involved. Chris |

Same for all = crap for all ? Difference is, I left, had a better option and took it. Was hoping others would back me, there was a vote and the show of hands for changing the track was huge - but with having to re-run round 1 it was chosen to leave it be - at which point I packed up, which I think is a more mature option than staying..... ive enjoyed myself today elsewhere. I didn't leave Tally, was probably over the drink drive limit if I did . It was a weekend away and so a weekend of socialising as much or more so than racing. I suffered at Tally more so with the distance as I couldn't judge it, there was good reason for this and I struggled. Whereas at Macc there was no good reason for the jumps being poor, this was known before round 1 and they were looked at - not changed adequately. Ive said my piece, it couldn't go unsaid. My opinion is if this sort of poor track and poor representation of the drivers is carried on this class will suffer. My opinion, like it or not, im not going to argue just going to let my thoughts be known. |
A Mahoosive well done to Bish!!!!! Im really pleased you won mate.
|
I wasnt there as I have been in hospital most of yesterday and most of this morning.
Im not going to get involved in the 'arguement/issue', as Chris has said he is free to race micros or choose not too! My only concern though is that there are people out there who are either not willing to give clubs a chance or who are just expecting waaay to much from this new class. We, the committee, etc, need pro-active help with developing the section, not just comments about how the section is gonna die if it continues the way it is. We'll have our EGM in April-ish, things will no doubt change for the better and we'll have another 7 round series to see if we have made things better or not...but Rome wasnt built in a day....and neither was any other section within the BRCA umbrella. |

Would be a shame to miss the remaining rounds though as it is probably one of the most fun and fastest growing classes around at present. And top drivers such as yourself are always a good advert for an emerging series. |
I want this class to grow stronger, its an ideal entry for youngsters.
Ive said my piece and thats it, people can choose to take offence or react to it and improve the class. What I hope is it is taken onboard and some representation is given. Perhaps a designated drivers rep who acts on these things. Unfortunately few volunteer for this (in any class), and those who do become the silent heroes who don't get the appreciation they deserve. Personally, I race RC cars for fun before anything else. I do other classes and so I choose to race those. Chris |
Chris,
I appreciate your comments, and im sorry that you felt you had to leave one of our Nationals. I am always open to suggestions to improve our Series. As a Committee there is only so much we can do, be it before the event or even on the day, but I want nothing more than for the Section to flourish and grow over the years. I just hope that at the EGM we get some positive directional ideas and that the 2009-2010 Series knocks the socks off of everyone :) |

Perhaps I have made a mountain out of a mole hill. In my mind I think for the little issues to be dealt with politely at soonest oportunity - this would not have happened. Today there was a group of people stood around after practice trying to persuade a Macc representative to switch the jumps - Craig Harris discovered a good option in using the 2nd jump switching it with the first, but the ideas were poo-pooed and the 1st jump was turned around and taped only because the carpet on the 1st up ramp had a little tear from practice..... which happened as the ramp was too steep, with a slight step where the ramp started & cars were wackng it. So what was the top 10 today? |
Finishing Order
1 Tony Bishop 2 Danny Conway 3 Alec Springer 4 Stuart Harlow 5 Gavin Stephenson 6 Mark Stiles 7 Steve Biscoe 8 Chris Bottle 9 Jaime Conway 10 Craig Harris |
Well done to Alec Springer too!!!!! :D

Finishing Order
1 Tony Bishop 2 Danny Conway 3 Alec Springer 4 Stuart Harlow 5 Gavin Stephenson 6 Mark Stiles 7 Steve Biscoe 8 Chris Bottle 9 Jaime Conway 10 Craig Harris I aggree the jump could of been better but meh everyone lives and learns. IMO there would of been a few things i would of changed in the track. Everyone has and is intitled to there opinion. If it was my meeting i would of switched it round in practise but it wasnt so there is nothing that can be done. But its over now most people had a good days racing it was a well run event some good prizes. lets looks to tamworth. A |
Hey Chris
Wasn't there today but heard about the slight issue with the track, the club is fairly new and with it being the micros 2nd year with a national series it's still a bit of a learning curve for a lot of clubs. It's obviously your call if you want to leave, but your a top guy and add to the atmosphere so you can't do that mate ;) Fair enough if you want to leave, each to their own but last year Tamworth did a cracking track, the highlight of the series in my opinion. It's the next national, give it a last shot huh? Would be sad to see you go  |
Cheers Dan,
Well on the same date is a meeting at Worksop which I was going to miss, but I really can't. I get involved in the track building and stuff ya see. What im going to do is show Claire how to drive, get her used to the sticks going around some cones before going to a race. So who know, it may not be me racing when you see me next but Claire :) I hope I haven't taken anything out of context and sorry if I cause offence to anyone. I just wanted what was on my mind out in the open. I realise the section needs volunteers and its easy for the members to criticise and give instructions, but I do give credit to those running the section and the clubs and I apologise if any offence has been caused, I just felt nobody listened and that a national should be something that matters. |
Obviously the main issue here is the problem with the take off ramp, which was really awkward and probably should have been sorted after practice, but it wasn't so we all had to get on with the job and try and get over it as best we could.
We all know the rules and it doesn't matter how many people put their hands up for a change of track AFTER round one, you can't change it with FTD qualifying, only round by round and you boys all know that. To cancel a whole round for everyone because some had a crap run is insane. I know I sound biased because I was second after round one but I improved my times all day and after round one I never had a single mistake on the dreaded jump, and I doubled it every lap!!!!! ....... it was horrible and if you crashed you would almost certainly take someone else out or they would land on you and it was awkward to marshal, but no more awkward than the awful back section of blue jumps at Wycombe? Chris, don't leave mate, I understand you had a bad one, but move on to the next, you know you love us really  |
:) love you all ofcause!
I watched your car in round 1 and you did make it far easier than I did. |
The best thing is for people to go in with the expectation that no matter what the track looks like it won't be changed. After all, we don't tend to rip the astro and get the shovels out if there is a bump on a 10th track we find awkward. Then, if you ask for a change and the organiser says no for whatever reason you are not too disappointed. Any changes they are willing to make is a bonus!
Come on Mr Schlong, we need you and every other good driver to continue to come and have fun with us at the micro section. Wouldn't be the same without you lot :D |

OK Cool, just make sure you don't sell up your car cause you know how fun these little robust things can be!
As I said it's only our second year, alot of people are unsure on how to make good tracks for these little buggers and as for 'No 1 doing anything about the track issue', it's been taken on board and there seems to be ideas floating around for a 'Track Guru' position at the next EGM. Hope to see you soon Chris:thumbsup: |
Track Guru - sounds an ace idea!! :woot: :woot: :woot:
Well already planning to not sell anything and show Claire how to get around cones with my Shark - tone down throttle end point to 30% etc, so perhaps I'll be coming as her pit bitch!!! She is enthusiastic too. Sooooo, if this happens then id put my name forward to play a part. I don't like complaining, I know I have quite severely here, and im embarrased that I do realise volunteers are few and far between and those that do need appreciation.... hence, I have ideas and experience, so would put my name forward if I am goin to be there as pit person. Let me know what you guys think, and I need to confirm if I can yet. It may be for the following season rather than the end of this. |
