Who would you say is the best all round RC racer in the world?

Doughty's video of Hara at the Jap Nats got me thinking....hes good with an 8th buggy, 8th truggy, 10th snorer, 12th and 10th offroaders...

But who would you say was the best all round racer in the world? And in the UK?

Lee 03-11-2008 10:54 AM

CR Ashley

c0sie 03-11-2008 10:59 AM

We have a winner!!

Might as well close this thread now!!

nobby 03-11-2008 10:59 AM

dave spashett or craig drescher.

ashleyb4 03-11-2008 11:01 AM

Well thanks lee i do try.

There are a few people who dabble around classes for me i has to be truhe not just because he drives for losi its because he was the only person i could think of lol.

A

c0sie 03-11-2008 11:04 AM

Ash - 10th 4WD, 10th 2WD
Drescher - 10th 2WD, 10th 4WD, 8th RX, 10th TC (anything else?)
Spashett - 12th, 10th TC, 8th truggy (no idea on the rest)

And for the record, my vote does go with Hara.

KRob 03-11-2008 11:05 AM

Whilst Spash is undoubtedly one of the best there has ever been, he's not an all-rounder at World level.
There are only 3 that would spring to mind:
Masami
Hara
Drescher

Unfortunately Craig has never won a World title, where-as the other 2 have in both off-road and on-road...

They don't have as many European Titles as he has though....:)

niggs98 03-11-2008 11:06 AM

never seen him do 8th but the obvious one for me is masami, countless world titles in on and offroad as well as nationals etc, and even after 20+ years can still make worlds a finals and is always a challenge for the win no matter where or when

c0sie 03-11-2008 11:08 AM

KRob - 10th TC, 12th, 8th RX, 8th Truggy, 18th offroad, 10th 2WD, 10th 4WD

;) :D

Lee 03-11-2008 11:12 AM

Masami, is a legend and PW (P Dub to his mates) has some good stories about masami and his preparation and focus he has. It will take a lot to beat him. I think in the uk we have some of the brightest talent, if you look at bloomers, nobody is faster on a single lap than him, but he can be inconsistent. Then we have Cragg, when you watch him, he has a certain flair to his driving that makes it look cool as he backs the car in or lets it "hang" in the air. If we had more clay tracks in the UK we might have more world champs in the UK

Oh, that's me out then...I don't actually have a Truggy...:p

Joel Johnson was pretty good too - he's got World titles in Off-road and on-road...

bondy 03-11-2008 03:59 PM

Boothmister

World = Massami No contest :woot:
UK = Jamie Booth ! :D

Never really did touring "too boring" but know doubt if he had he would have been up there ! :eh?:

OFFROAD "magical"

David Church 03-11-2008 06:42 PM

Masami for sure. Look at his record in all classes.

But, I met Hara in Japan at the worlds last year, he is very cool!!!!
Truhe is also a cool guy.
Oh and I bugged Drescher all week as I was pit right next to him, he is a legend as well:thumbsup:

And Jimmy is also becoming a world famous R/C Legend:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

markwilliamson2001 03-11-2008 07:26 PM

that pretty much sums the guy up. Talent from head to toe!

UK choice is harder. Booth, Drescher, Kevin Moore, Spashett, Cragg. Or even Mr Doughty! (off road, micro, and now rallycross!) :woot:

RogerM 03-11-2008 09:12 PM

Masami has to be #1 worldwide for all the reasons mentioned. I was just a very young lad starting out in the best hobby in the world when I went down to Romsey to watch the world champs .... Masami with the RC10 left a lasting impression .... with the CAT he became an instant icon to all that watched that day!!!!

In the UK I'd say it's 50/50 Jamie Booth and Chris Doughty. Both of them have raced all sorts, had good times and bad but both have also always helped me, and every other person who popped over to say hi, out in terms of advice, that vital part to continue the day and even just a kind word when things are getting people down. True gents them both.
Then there are Neil & Mick Cragg ...... oh hell, it's hard to choose isn't it!!!

14 actually, and by the far best all rounder. He was outstanding in 1/12th, and 1/10th on road, as well as touring and buggies. Fantastic to watch driving but his preparation is amazing, and his tyre cut and shutting which was unbelievable.

Smartalec 04-11-2008 12:51 PM

Surely Dave Church ...... he's double veteran champ don't you know? ..... and he's multi-talented (he can drink/spill vodka with both hands):p

Gayo 04-11-2008 05:34 PM

Masami is a legend for sure, but he never made any nitro racing that I know of.

Best all round racer is Hara, no doubt. Former Touring World champ, new 1/8 buggy champ, multiple A finals in 1/12th, off road 1/10th... and a very nice guy too  Except the haircut :D

Other very good all round racers : Pavidis, Johnson

rob8246 04-11-2008 10:17 PM

Adam 'Showtime' lewis gets my vote, legend!

showtime 04-11-2008 10:21 PM

Ashley 05-11-2008 04:43 PM

I am not sure he was the best all-rounder, but it is difficult to name anyone else as BOAT when you see this...

c0sie 08-11-2008 03:34 PM

I presume they are not just club trophies in there LOL

SlowOne 08-11-2008 03:36 PM

Shelf behind him is his 14 World Title cars, the rest are from Japan Nationals, Reedy Races, etc., etc., etc.... So no, not Club trophies, really... :D :D
