Why arent 10th trucks popular in the UK?
This has probably been asked before, so excuse my ignorance, but why arent 10th trucks (electric) popular here in the UK like they are in the US?
It seems to me that Americans, more often than not, prefer truggys/trucks to buggys (8th or 10th) whereas us Brits are more fond of buggies....but why is this? And has there ever been a BRCA 1/10th electric truck section/National series?? Thanks, Curious Cris :) |
i have no idea but it is a good question, we raced them at southport and were quicker most of the time than buggy's, and soooo much fun,
|
I remember the whole truck thing kicking off with converted buggies - I had the Storm conversion for my cougar, they were awesome.
Personally if I had a choice it would be trucks I were playing with but no one upon no one seems to run them. May have to have a hunt and pick something up and get it down to woOdys place.. |
It's been to do with cells & motors - in the past - trucks are heavy on these items.
With LiPo & Brushless systems trucks seem to be on the up. |
Good point well made Stu...the release of brushless/LiPo could rejuvinate interest?
The only reason I ask is cos I was looking at a JConcepts shelled T4 earlier on tinterweb....looked evil! |
i think if we had some of the tracks the US have, i'd have got a truck. I bet trucks are massive fun on those huge tracks with massive jumps. Running a truck on high grip astro or grass just doesn't inspire...:(
|
Maybe we need more 'massive jump tracks' ??
|
There are a few of us 'up North' with them, we just need to get a weekend sorted out when we can all get to race them :)
G |
That would be great to see pics from if you managed to organise it G :)
Or, if trucks are better suited to 'big jump tracks' what about some truck action at one of your brilliant indoor meets? |
I'm certainly getting mine prep'd for the MK GP, in the hope to have a run between Qually & Finals.

We asked for a championship over the winter indoors at York, but they didn't think it would be supported well enough :(
We will just have to all arrange to all turn up on the same night with them and race. Trouble is Schumacher are out of Yellows! G |
like they say, if you build it they will come, lmao
|
If you build it, and promote it on o0ple..people will come :)
(Oh, and preferably make sure theres some indoor truck action here in the Southern regions too lol) :D |
Yup I would be up for it
|
Yes the trucks are cool! I had a FT T4 truck it was such good fun to drive, easier to drive than the B4.
I raced my truck with the buggys at team xtremes track a few years ago and it held it's own. I wish I still had it as it would be getting an X60 conversion ! Time to look on the bay me thinks! And yes a truck class/ meeting would get my thumbs up! |
i would love to see them at more race meetings,
|
Well atleast for those of us going to MKGP, we can get trucks out at lunch for some track time :)

Trucks used to have their own BRCA section back in the day, with truck Nationals and stuff. I remember doing the truck finals at Kiddy and breaking my associated every run in some bizarre way or another ........ then only just crossing the line in the 'I' final (yep, there were that many) before the pinion dropped off LOL ........ooooh, what a day that was
|
trucks are for girls. Real men drive buggies:thumbsup:

If your interested in a truck series/meeting, why dont you have a word with the promotions rep :)
|
And who would that be?
G |
Id certainly be interested in an indoors meeting/series down South-like.
I find myself kinda getting addicted to 1/10th offroad at the moment lol (However, I am still scared of grass, mud, astro and rain lol) |
none of that would hurt anyone
|
When Mr W ran his truck after one of the summer regionals it looked great fun; but coming back to a previous post about big jumps - it looked shite over the jumps on that track - no matter how many spuds it was given in flight it just wanted to land on it's roof?
|
Needs more talent?
:woot::woot::woot::woot::woot: G |
trucks are very popular at southport, and the interest is on the increase....
|
Im down south and i would be interested in racing my truck...i have an xtm x-cellorator......brushless etc.......bulletproof!!!:D:D
|
Stu, I ran my X60 at York last week, first time I've ever run a truck. It jumped really well and was much more sensitive in the air than a buggy, I guess the effect of the massive wheels and tyres. Bradders had a go and made it look really good, as did Vermin (not typo), it wasn't until I gave it to the talentless Rich Lowe ( ;) ) Who nose dived it into the ground from about 6 feet but still nothing broke :)
Anyway, they're a good laugh I think so lets get a sat night planned at York! |
You said you wanted it strength testing!
At least I had a go at the chassis this time instead of ripping a wheel off  |

I think of atleast 7 of us with trucks in the NE :woot: |

We need tyres :(
G |
I got mine from DMS, though it then took the useless postal service 9 (yes 9) days to get them to me, finally arrived yesterday.
|
the thing that always put me off trucks was, lack of power to get duration, or power and dumping, so now with LiPo and Brushless, they are gone.... only thing left now, is tyres. When Academy brought it's truck out, we raced them at Caldicot once or twice, shearing half shafts etc, but the tyres were fab, slid everywhere and squealed too!!
|
Would I be right in presuming that Schumacher do a yellow mini pin for trucks?
Steve, you just cant beat Caldicot for 'big jump tracks' :D |
I can tell you a Novak 4.5R and 4900 Trakpower is too fast :woot:
