Thanks for starting this thread, would be nice to see more vintage racing at Kidderminster and Telford clubs.

J'MM'N 13-08-2014 08:42 PM

And Mendip, such a natural track, ideal for vintage racing.

To support clubs who wish to name their class the Iconic RC Vintage Class, we will be providing buggy decals and trophies.

We will also promote on our main site, facebook, here and on Tamiya Club.

Iconic RC have strong ties with Racer Magazine so there will be promotion for this class appearing there as well.

Cheers, John

I could be interested if I ever get my RC10 even built haha.

I'll speak to Mr Dudman at some stage and hope to make a couple of races at Surrey & Hants.

Ashlandchris 14-08-2014 08:36 AM

Hoping some clubs slightly further north decide to play

If I can get my Optima running, anyhow

Peakey 14-08-2014 09:00 AM

I might breakout the Procat and see how it fairs at west bridgeford if I get time after the house move. You'll have to bring yours up gainsy and we can battle it out

Peakey 14-08-2014 07:44 PM

I've just booked in for round 2,3,4,and 5 at wbmcc I'll try and make round 1 but we'll see

Hi, I'm hopefully going to be taking part in the s.w.i.s series with my tamiya dirt thrasher, just a quick question are there any guideline rules regarding running modern wheels/tyres, are lipo's and brushless systems allowed? . Is there a link to iconic rc class rules?

Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask

Cheers
Steve

Hi Steve, Each club will fine tune the rules to suit them and their members so it is best to contact East Shrewsbury Buggy Club.

Rules are generally relaxed though so you should be ok with Brushless, LiPo, Modern Wheels/Tyres. Please check with the club though.

Thanks, John

Ok John,thanks for your help

A video from last year's championship. (Top drivers, so quite fast)

http://youtu.be/9ikIPTQWwgU

Plenty of spaces available in all classes.
Don't worry if your batteries are not brca approved, so long as the lipos are hard cased and charged in a Lipo sack.
Any electrics allowed.
Any rubber tire.

No scary jumps to worry about.

48 drivers pre-booked for R1 of the WBMCC Indoor Off Road Championship so far.

The Doctor 18-10-2014 10:14 AM

Right chaps, we now already have 52 drivers pre-booked for Round 1 of the 2014/15 WBMCC Indoor Off Road Championship, which is being held next Saturday, 25th October.

We're expecting more drivers to book-in on the day, so this is looking like it's going to be a good championship again this year, especially with the inclusion of the Iconic RC Vintage Off Road classes.

If you want to ensure your place and get practicing as soon as you arrive, please pre-book using the link earlier in this thread.

A quick pic from the vintage class today at WBMCC

I'm sure better ones will follow

OptimaFan 25-10-2014 08:42 PM

Nice line-up. How did you fare?

Peakey 25-10-2014 09:14 PM

The Procat did better than the SX3 which died after a heavy impact with the wall in the 3rd round. Got through to the final when on lap 2 the ball studs came loose on the front hub, and with all my tools packed away saw an end to the day. But never mind came 3rd in the 4wd so points on the board for the next round.

Good day though roll on round 2

The Doctor 26-10-2014 03:38 PM

Great start to the 2014/15 championship yesterday. Fantastic to see the Iconic RC vintage cars running alongside the modern-day machinery too. If only I had kept my Tamiya Astute, Tamiya Top Force, Associated RC10, Associated RC10 B2, Associated RC10 B3, Losi XX, Schumacher Bosscat, Schumacher Cougar 1... All were sold on to upgrade to the next one... :(

I think we will see some more classic cars running in the Iconic RC Vintage class next time; I heard some comments in the pits that some of the Dads are planning to blow the dust off their old war horses for R2. :) And I know a few of us are planning to bring out some vintage rally cars for a run too... (thank goodness I still have my Yokomo MR4-Rally).

Anyway, thet top 3 in each class from R1 are as follows:

2WD
Craig Collinson 200
John Spencer 197
Eugene Galley 197

4WD
Leigh Richardson 200
Simon Smith 197
Mick Butler 194

Iconic RC Vintage 2WD
Stefano Lazzarato 200
Mark Stanton 198
Dave Dodd 196

Iconic RC Vintage 4WD
Ian Watson 197
John Weston 194
Justin Peake 193

Full results will be posted on wbmcc.com soon...

Hope to see you at R2 on 29th November. :)

SWIS RD 2 16th November

Hi all.

Just a reminder that rd 2 of the SWIS series will take place at ESBRC on Sunday 16th November.

For round 1 we had just 4 entries for the Iconic class and would really like to have a couple of full heats for this round.

Booking in can be found at http://www.eastshrewsburybrc.com/?page_id=37

The drivers list for round 2 can be found at http://www.eastshrewsburybrc.com/?page_id=381

Thanks for reading and we hope to see you there!

As you can see from the posts above it was a very successful round 1 for the clubs over the last 2 weekends and it has created a real buzz.

I'll be writing up a round summary which will appear in Racer Magazine.

We've also introduced a Rally Class which West Bridgford Model Car Club are introducing from their round 2. All the detail is in the photo.

The Doctor 01-11-2014 06:50 PM

Yep, my 1998 Yokomo MR4 Rally will be let loose at the next round. That'll get me off race control for a break anyway!

Including the good "The Doctor" we have 6 entries for the rally class

Due to time restraints and of course the many buggy entries :), we are limited to 1 heat of 10 rally cars.
So if you do wish to enter a rally car, please do so sooner rather than later. :D

The Doctor 10-11-2014 10:03 PM

Hi guys,

We're nearing capacity for R2 of the West Bridgford Model Car Club 2014/15 Indoor Off Road Championship on 29th November, so if you haven't pre-booked and do want to race then get your entries in quickly via the pre-booking link in Dave's signature above.

So far we have 20 Vintage entries across 2WD, 4WD and Rally.

The Doctor 11-11-2014 09:30 PM

Right chaps, we now have just 1 spare place in Iconic RC Vintage 2WD, 1 spare place in Iconic RC Vintage 4WD and 2 spare places in Iconic RC Vintage Rally for the next championship round on 29th November. Booking in link is in Dave's signature above.

Once these places are gone, we will start a reserve driver list and check for any cancellations the week prior to the event.

Should be a good one.

SWIS RD2

This Sunday 16th November sees round 2 of the SWIS series take place.

We have 75 entries at the moment but have to say I am a little disappointed with the Iconic RC Numbers.

We had 4 entries for round 1 and have 4 entries as it stands for round 2.

We could do with at least one full heat of Iconics for it to be worthwhile running the class.

Its great to see these old cars going around and expected more entries to be honest. Is there any reason why the numbers are so low for the SWIS series compared to other series?

The drivers list and booking in can be found on our website at www.eastshrewsburybrc.com

Any questions fire away!

Matt.

Iconic 15-11-2014 08:08 AM

Matt,

I think it just needs more enthusiasts in your area to gather the momentum.

You've got Craig Drescher entered into the Iconic class for Sunday now so that is huge news and can only make it more popular.
