Jarrow - 21.10.08

Due to problems with my speedo (the power cap on it), I will be running a different ca rthis week. Anyone got any advice on setting up a Top Force Evolution for this weeks racing?

N7ELA 20-10-2008 03:33 PM

I also have problems with my speedo...

hopefully al have it fixed for tommorrow though.

Even if i dont me B4 might be out so lots of carpet i feel...

Dalla 20-10-2008 04:56 PM

Chris,
I can still get you one of those Mega Caps from work if you have room for it inside your shell :-). Can bring it with me tomorrow.

Dalla 20-10-2008 05:57 PM

Neil,
Has Chris S sorted the cat? By the results it looked as though he had a good meet.

chris68nufc 20-10-2008 06:27 PM

I had some expert help at Worksop and got it going a bit better. I still think it has a long way to go to get it how i want it. Done another servo and that made me crash out in the final.

chris68nufc 20-10-2008 07:39 PM

Surprisingly yes I was asleep :D I might try and get some sleep before the next time.

N7ELA 21-10-2008 02:14 PM

I think chris's car is close to being set-up... Maybe a couple of tweeks left. Then he's got no excuse when i lap him...

N7ELA 21-10-2008 03:20 PM

Just got the tamiya tuned up. Me motor was goosed. Still shes purring like a jaguar now.... Come on tonight...

chris68nufc 21-10-2008 04:31 PM

Hope you enjoy it tonight. Will be rubbish without me there though! Hope to be there next week with my new shell.

chrispattinson 22-10-2008 07:24 AM

Still can't believe Pack TQ'd and won the A. well done.
Qualifying was good, with plenty people looking to be on TQ during the night.
Final was great, with Chris Green, Pack, Neil and me all in the lead at one point.

That table top was ace! Best feature so far at Jarrow.

N7ELA 22-10-2008 07:34 PM

only because me and you crashed trying to pass each other. I looked at our lap times and we had 3 laps (crashes) which were 22 seconds plus. All of packs were 19 and 20's. It was the tortoise and the hare. Slow and steady wins the race. Dunno bout you but i had more fun racing between me you and chris green. Some pretty close racing and everyone was clean... Plus you and pack had illegal tyres on....

:)

chris68nufc 22-10-2008 07:45 PM

What tyres were they using?

markc 22-10-2008 08:34 PM

Im not 100% but I think they were running full spikes. No doubt somebody will correct me if Im wrong! :p

chris68nufc 22-10-2008 08:36 PM

I was actually going to suggest that we all run full spikes to keep it the same for all. Obviously when somebody new turns up then they can run whatever.Just a thought.

N7ELA 22-10-2008 08:54 PM

aye illegal full spikes... Nah mini spikes are better but after 3 weeks they need changing. Full spikes last about 5-6 weeks... I still think new mini spikes are better...

markc 22-10-2008 09:13 PM

Aye I thought they were running full spikes. Do you think you get better grip with full spikes on like Neil?

N7ELA 23-10-2008 12:33 AM

depends on the track mark... If theres no carpet out, full spikes get more grip but if theres carpet laid in certain places then mini spikes work better, however james chappell has put some great TQ's in the past and he always runs mini spikes. Chris clark always ran mini spikes and he used to go very good at jarrow also... some weeks the hall is slippier than others but overall i think mini spikes are best... sayin that am gonna race full spikes next just as a comparison...

That isnt a bad idea chris, if there was a "gentlemans agreement" on which tyres to use it would make the racing a little closer. You could concentrate more on driving rather than tyre choice.
Also what inserts work well on these old school tyres ? And any suggestions on where to get them from.
Jimmi.......

N7ELA 24-10-2008 01:04 PM

ive found schumacher medium tyre inserts work well. They're £1.89 a pair from rc-direct. Or you can go see charlie at whitburn hobbies. He usually does inserts cheaper...

Ive already got my full spikes ready. Not sure if am racing on tues though...

chrispattinson 24-10-2008 01:09 PM

Jimmi - you should be able to get full spikes at most model shops, or online from Schumacher.
2.2 inch yellow full spikes.

It all depends on how the track is laid out - like Neil said, if you've got carpet down, minispikes will be better, but on the slippy floor, I find worn full spikes work better than worn minispikes. New minispikes are good as are new mini pins., but expensive to run.

Soon at the club, I think we'll be carpeting the straight, which reduces the effect of full spike.

I would hapilly run full spikes as a control tyre but I dont think we should force it on people. I dont see how a control tyre would make the racing any closer, all tyres seem capable of the same level of pace around the track.
You would still get the difference in grip levels from different wear levels of the tyres.

Personally, I'll probably be sticking with full spikes for now.

N7ELA 24-10-2008 01:13 PM

wots happening re mortimer chris....? you arranged a visit yet...???

6th form netball might be on...

chrispattinson 24-10-2008 01:35 PM

Ive got both T/Park and Mortimerr preliminarily booked. I have spoken to Bill and Simon, we think T/Park is better as we get a good rostrum, good exposure for the public, a canteen, but slightly smaller track and nearly twice the price.

So I think it'll be Temple Park, unless you have any other input re: mortimer - I do think the track could be massive there, but T/Park is big enough.

Can you get something from Nissan to pull the trailer?
Ive never seen a thread go off on a tangent so much!

Going home from work now, so phone me if you want (phone's nearly dead like, so Ill charge it when I get in).
Off Oople now!

Does exposure to the public include getting cars broken into...??? I would go with the cheapest, make as much profit for the club to enable more events in the future.

If there's another advert in the gazette i think the public would turn up...
