I would bear in mind the 'next' version of Virtual RC if you are thinking of buying a laptop specifically for that job.

Ooooo, where do I find details of the 'next' version Chris?

VRC Pro is the next one, new graphics engine, new dynamics and the introduction of off-road!!

Northy 14-10-2008 06:36 PM

Any idea when it's due?

not public this year, so its defo worth getting the current one,

but if you are buying something specifically for VRC bear in mind the new version

Northy 14-10-2008 06:38 PM

What sort of machine do I require? :)

Something with a separate graphics card.

something with 3d graphics card, not on board graphics.

something like this as a bare minimum, but it isn't up to much games wise

something with a geforce card should have a bit more poke, like this

I have that line saved on a clipboard for easy access :woot:

glypo 14-10-2008 08:44 PM

I would get something with at least an 8xxx series geforce in it.

The bottom one listed above is good. There is also this:

This has less RAM but a better graphics card - so a compromise. Both should run VRC Pro though.

Not sure if I should admit to this:blush:

lee is right.:o mac book pro all the way!

Remember guys the Apple laptops under £1400 have the most basic graphics chips possible and won't play games very well ;)

glypo 15-10-2008 10:11 AM

Okay I thought the Mac comments above were a joke.

VRC won't run on a Mac, and 99.99% of all games will not run on a Mac...

mac 15-10-2008 10:22 AM

Didnt mean as a joke for a mac I use duel boot so running as a pc:blush:

i have a cheap acer laptop just brought for under £250 as a referb and it plays it fine, will have it at worksop if you are there m8

Ralph_C 15-10-2008 04:14 PM

I have an Acer 5920g which cost me £450 a month or two ago. Specs seem identical to that one linked above, but for some reason it's more expensive now. Plays VRC really smoothly. Frame rate on top graphics settings is between about 35-75 depending on how large the track is and how many AI cars. :)
