Pendle 12th oct?

Who won and how did Stu Evans do?
What a disaster :( breaking the truck in practice and forgetting my camera lens - complete wash out for me, I couldn't even take nice photos - gutted.

bondy 12-10-2008 04:33 PM

Broke ?

you broke it ? Did you run the engine in ok ? :D

Tamiya ???? TUT TUT TUT

Stu 12-10-2008 04:46 PM

Qualified B6.
Finished second.
Bumped up to the A
Finished A5.

I didn't really have the right tyres (Crime-Fighters) early on when in was wet, but it dried and firmed up a little as the finals progressed so the surface started to come to me.

Sam was on FIRE - like properly on FIRE - FIRE - or at least it looked that way as Dave Crompton was not racing.

Did you get to any charity shops for pensioners clothing? Maybe one of them tartan shopping trollys that old folk pull along - they have them?

jimmy 12-10-2008 05:11 PM

haha, no I went home to do some crap on the house instead

I planted the Tamiya into the face of the 3rd jump on the triple and it was game over. Truck was flying before that tho - really felt rather ace.

Northy 12-10-2008 06:31 PM

If anyone out there has a shell-suit(s) - like as in 1993 shiny nylon type - please let us know - we need to borrow them for the weekend next easter.

Thanks.

Northy 12-10-2008 07:13 PM

This one was totally pale blue bottom half, then white on the top half with pike bright pink 'things' on the white area. Blue trousers topped it off a treat

Stu 12-10-2008 07:15 PM

You had me fooled with that extra pit stop in the B Stu, I looked up to the rostrum like what the hells going on haha

Jimmy I was gutted for you, I saw it nose dive into the last of the tripple. It seemed to hit fairly square on the bumper too was surprised it had bust the arm. Just seemed like the motor bogged down on the run up.

Stu 12-10-2008 09:44 PM

The track may benefit from the second & third being filled in to make a big table top. The fastest way will still be to clear the lot and down-slope the jump - but a table top would give the less committed a ‘get out clause’. It would stop what happened to Jimmy being a cause for concern.

It would take a lot of filling in I imagine.

Garry Driffill 12-10-2008 09:53 PM

I thought i heard somone talking to Pete last night about Clothes and Charity shops

LOL - You lot are mad! :D

dave g 13-10-2008 08:15 AM

jimmy jimmy what did you do lol

jimmy 13-10-2008 09:12 AM

haha, too much mud and too much excitement - I didn't feel compfy jumping the triple with a double-single, I was either rolling all three or clearing all three - sadly smacking into the face of the third meant my day was over before it really began. Truck was awesome though, really enjoyed racing it round there - just a shame I couldn't give Stu a run for his money.

dave g 13-10-2008 09:29 AM

yes its quite a tricky triple, you have to be confident in jumping it.

you got any spares for it?
how was the engine?

dave

jimmy 13-10-2008 09:55 AM

Engine was sweet, just needed a twiddle to get it tuned right - it was bogging down a little when setting off / after waiting a few seconds at idle. Felt about right to be honest, fast but not too agressive.

The tyres didn't have the grip to confidently clear that jump - they were just filled with mud. The truck would steer inside other buggies but I guess didn't quite have enough traction to get the speed up enough.
No didn't have spares - always a risk with a new car when it's like the first one in the country. Never mind, it was still worth driving 2 hours and spending a tenner on - had a laugh.

Stu 13-10-2008 04:50 PM

I just richened the bottom end a little - I think it was being starved on idle.

I was not sure if it was too lean or too rich - so chose the safe option and upped the fuel a little - seemed to perk it up.

Yeah - funny that - was same on both cars.

Was 6/32's on the truck.

now you mention it, when I got it back to the table and had wiped the tears from my eyes- I did notice the fuel tank was virtually dry. Either coincidence or I ran out of fuel on the run up and that's why I planted it? never mind.
Just some bad luck - I will be there next meeting and try again
