B-Max4 III bodyshell

Anyone know when therell be an alternative bodyshell available?????

I've made a right mess of mine at the Regional today. I refuse point blank to buy another genuine one because they're so flimsy and expensive.

The car was good though, loving it.

leeboy44 06-04-2014 07:24 PM

yeah i cant wait for a new stronger shell, ive got a brand new 1 here but like you im not going to use it as its so thin

thats the only down side to the car for me

B max shell

I have lined mine with tesa tape
Made for Motorsport repairs
It's not cheap but it firms up the shell well and also protects your paint job
Cheers yorkie

B max shell

It's available from speed sport promotions fella,s

discothesnake 09-04-2014 05:04 AM

The shell from the B-max4 II can be made to fit.

Penguin shells on eBay do an alternative and I it's nice and thick.

Can you post the link, I can't see it listed.

Had a look and it appears he no longer does them. It might be worth dropping him a line tho.

with Lee Martin being sponsored by proline i'd imagine there will either be a new shell in the works or coming very soon

Wacker 3 09-04-2014 06:44 PM

Send Steve from Penguin a message and he will mould you a shell. They are still available from him

I've painted the inside of my BMAX4-III shell with stormshore:
http://www.stormsure.com/stormsure.html

unlike shoegoo it's thin enough to paint on, and a 15g tube is more than enough to do one shell. I guess it adds less than 15g to the shell in weight, but makes it far stronger and flexible.

Just noticed an add on the redrc.net page.

It shows a BMAX2 and BMAX4 body from Jconcepts
Cant find them on the jconcepts page jet.

mes 07-05-2014 05:23 PM

Their site is not up to date. #0269 (MM RT6 body) is already available at towerhobbies and they did not even mention it on their website or social media pages. :eh?:

caneye 16-05-2014 12:05 AM

Looking for some feedback.

Penguin RC

I have a penguid shell on my durango and the lexan is very good - quite thick too

bomber 25-07-2014 10:28 AM

Anyone heard if there is any else on the horizon, I love how the car drives but its a ugly fecker

neallewis 25-07-2014 10:44 AM

Yokomo are due to release a "heavyweight" shell soon i believe. i think it will just be a thicker version of the kit shell.

Darren Boyle 25-07-2014 04:07 PM

Silencer body from JConcepts will be with us here very soon now as another option.....

Body shells are always a matter of preference ;)

I like the stock shell over the after market ones but it's very thin and flimsy. Mine had a puncture through the roof. Must've landed awkwardly on something solid on the track :woot:

Got a spare penguin shell to be painted but I still prefer the stock body ... Any part number available for the heavier shell? I believe that's what Lee Martin used at the Euros

I agree. While performance has undoubtedly improved since I used to do rc back in mid 80s, the visual appeal has not. I recently bought a bmax4-III to accompany my bmax2 but I have also had to find an old optima original to remind me of what a proper 4wd rc car could look like if style were key.
Now let me go and find a rectangular box so I can design a paint job...

Maybe the designers of 1980s Volvos have moved to rc!!!

That body makes me puke, a lot. It just doesn't look right.

Just found this in the cupboard and chucked some paint on it to see what it looks like, I think I prefer it to the standard shell, what do you think?

what shell is it?

bomber 02-08-2014 09:05 AM

Been thinking and I believe it is a penguin ansmann x4te shell, you need to trim it to fit but it fits really well around the sides

Bugle 09-08-2014 04:18 AM

Here's one i've been working on recently, bit less boxy

Heres what Ive done to fit a Proline phantom. How does it look?

I trimmed the front side pods and made a new bit from wings for the velcro at the front.

It came straight off my b44.2. little trimming needed, its not as tall now and nose needed trimming back, but it fits really well now.

skyaflake 13-08-2014 08:45 AM

Looks pretty decent :D
