Peakeys Procat thread
Well I purchased it at the start of march an after a few emails to Australia post and 4 phone calls to Royal Mail and parcel force I found it. It was in the depo round the corner so I went in and paid my £71.31 import tax :mad: and got it.
http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...psgfwumtbn.jpg http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...psbdcmq9ym.jpg http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9jghhot9.jpg http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...pscijhrhbt.jpg http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...pszzdpdifb.jpg http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...pschscjxy4.jpg It's full of WASP racing bits alloy front diff alloy top deck alloy internal motor housing MMS front and rear diffs and not sure what else am I'm still at work. If I say I'm more than happy would be an understatement  |
So now by the looks of things I now have a mms front and rear diffs and layshaft surplus to requirements if anyone is looking for one I'm open to offers. And I'm after Some alloy bearing housings if anyone has any they don't want
Very nice mate
I'd almost say it's as nice as my Ultima :p:D |
That's just the start I've only took it out the box give me chance to strip it and put a couple of bits on and you'll love it trust me :p
Sleek looking car, congrats on getting it to you in this condition.
God I wish they made buggies this gorgeous these days, cos let's be honest chaps, they don't. Bleedin' forward cab rubbish.
This paintjob on this shell is simply stunning! |
Thanks for the nice comments guys as soon as i saw it I just had to have it and nearly a month later and it's here in all it's glory. It's even better in the flesh the shell could do with freshening up so I might get another done the same but I'll see about that there's a bit to do before that
Whats your plan, hope you will strip it and polish it and show us all along the way........
Btw, what is it? Bosscat, procat?
Looks like a pro-cat to me............;)
It's a Procat and the plan is to strip it rebuild it and then thrash the living daylights out of it
And yes mark there will be photos you can be sure of that |
Nice lookin forward to it
I think I have 3 wasp alloy diff housing sets, let me know if interested

Definitely got 3 of the WASP things, but it's at the bottom of loads of other stuff so only 2 pictured
It actually says on the front, Polished Alloy Bearing Housings for Layshaft on all XL and Procat Part No WAS7890, not sure if this is what you meant. Other stuff is from MMS, was with all the other schumacher stuff i pulled out of my dads garage, so assume it's Schumacher related, if you know what it is let me know. 3 x T9 and 1 x TM2 http://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/...ps90e54f93.jpg |
Now that is very-very nice - certainly worth the wait!! All those lovely period aftermarket parts too! Looking forward to seeing how this progresses & how you get on running this bad-boy!!
Well the MMS bits are replacements parts for the diffs I'm assuming front and rears and I've not seen bearing housings like that for a very long time pal very nice. As for the what looks like shock tower I'm not sure what that's off but I bet someone will
Nice Procat :) Looks like a mix of MMS, Wasp and GPM alloy parts.
Thanks Paul I can't wait to pull it apart and see what it's made of
So the car is now in bits and I'm rebuilding the mms diffs 1 how much diff lube is too much and how tight shell I do them up help please.

Ok so now I've renamed my thred I think I should ad to it.
I managed to spend some time on it last night. So I striped it down to give it a bit of a clean and rebuild the diffs I say clean it was only a little dusty as it's been on a shelf for a bit by the looks of it. So http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...ps34k6xnvf.jpg After a front end strip down and cleaned the front MMS diff with some fairy I honed the diff plates with a bit of 240 grit (thanks derbydan ) I put the front housing back together with the fresh diff in place http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...psdsftetku.jpg http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...psj4kukafq.jpg When I was putting it back together the front suspension brackets didn't fit properly with the alloy housing, so I had to sand little off both so it now sits better with the chassis and top deck. I would like to find some alloy ones like Luke's from somewhere to finish the front off if anyone knows of any going. So for now this is how the front end is with the new front shocks that I will be running http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...psgwkjhggb.jpg http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...psqipg5ppm.jpg http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5cjfay2e.jpg There's so much more ground clearance with these over the standed ones. When I get a bit more time I will get on the the rear diff and as I have a couple of bits I can't wait to put in it hopefully I'll get some time at the weekend to get on to it.:D Almost forgot I had a few little bits in the post yesterday thanks daz:thumbsup:and a couple of spurs off eBay http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...psarhvqkxr.jpg http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...psjz3mpwzr.jpg |
Looking good, so where do those wasp bits I sent actually go building cars isn't my forte :)
There the bearing housings for the layshft if I get time at the weekend I will hopefully get them on with my new motor plates
Ah ok so I guess the originals are plastic
Yes and I've not seen a lot of round ones so am interested in seeing what they sit like.
Couldn't wait till the weekend so here you go daz I just fitted one to see how they look
http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...psxixzzws4.jpg |
Nice hope you think the money was worth it :)
No I got ripped off by some hustler :p
Hmm something went wrong
So today started off with a delivery of a few bits off daz  nice one again pal.
http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...psyhfbnqw1.jpg So now were on to the rear diff and it turns out it's not got a MMS rear diff but it has got a trinity one. So that got stiped, cleaned and the thrust washers got honed so all is running nice and smooth now. http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...psu1egckjr.jpg In with the delivery of new stuff were brand new uj's and until I compared them I didn't realise how bad the old ones are so on with the new ones http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...psinalsltd.jpg So after all the cleaning and waiting I can finally fit my custom transmission plates made by Tim at SOS-MMRC http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...psa2xttpls.jpg http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...psj0ksieuc.jpg http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...psscyq95gm.jpg So for now the back end is now all cleaned and reassembled well for now until I get some new bearings for the new works hubs so they can go on http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...psqkh58glh.jpg http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...psrrphlvi2.jpg http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...psiaohj2qi.jpg Well that's as far as I got today I've still got to re build the rear shocks and fit them and then get some electrics in it |
Procat
Looking great but can't help but think it would look far nicer with new screws all over it. The originals are a mix of flat blade and Philips.
I am getting there all the rear end is now held together with new hex screws that turned up today and I need to pull the front apart again and I'll do that at the same time
Really nice build...
That's a sweet build. It's really coming together. I always like photos of all the bits new in pack. Those alloy side plates look nice too.
Thanks guys I'm now waiting on a couple of bits. I've just about managed to get everything new for a pro bosscat rear diff. But looking at the trinity one I may just use that and the alloy out drives from the pro diff instead of the delrin ones. As the drum is the same size but looks better than the Schumacher one.
When my new caliper turns up I'll be mesuring all my bearings to get new ones of those too so it'll be in bits again :o |
Bling.... Looking good I'll dig those parts out tonight
Thanks daz
