LiPo in S2

which one's fit?

matdodd 05-10-2008 05:13 PM

Most of us ran Trakpower 3200's they fit the best

pafnz 05-10-2008 06:35 PM

and with the trakpower in 4800
do yos know if it's ok with the bodyshell ?
thanks

matdodd 05-10-2008 07:44 PM

The 4800 are to big & not needed for 2wd.
You can do 2 runs on 3200's in 2wd

RookieBOB 20-10-2008 06:27 PM

Which motor do you use with TP3200 on S2?

TP4800 are too big! Do you mean that the bodyshell is too low and touch the batteries or that the run will be unterminable !

6.5 and 3200 lipo is plenty anymore than that is a missile :woot:

4800 is too high

jpgranone 20-10-2008 07:58 PM

The 3200 is really good for racing. It is lighter, smaller, and will last 15 minutes with a 7.5 brushless. I have good luck with the 3200 in both my 2wd and 4wd. Also if you can use Orion, and or LRP (not sure about other brands in the EU) you can get up to 30c discharge. That is only for 2wd so far. The hope is both will have legal saddles that will have 30c soon. That is HUGE power and still you get good run times.

bigred5765 20-10-2008 08:02 PM

matty tried the 3200 lipos at worksop, they were ace car was so lite, a new set up will be needed for sure,

matdodd 20-10-2008 10:16 PM

ye the shell is to low for the trakpower ones but with the 3200?s and a 6.5 its quick enough !

bigred5765 20-10-2008 10:35 PM

silly quick, i picked the car up and had to look twice to make sure the cells were in.

Irri Tant 01-11-2008 10:29 AM

anyone adding weight to the car when running LiPo?

if so were are you placing the weight?

any new setups for running LiPo?

matdodd 01-11-2008 10:56 AM

I ran 30g inthe front & then filled the gaps in the lipo tray under the cells, with the same setup i ran everywhere with cells!

c0sie 01-11-2008 11:03 AM

I run lead sheet from Frogger under each lipo in the tray, 7g either side of the chassis at the servo horn area and 10g at the very front part of the bulkhead assembly.

I have no idea how heavy the car is though so I cant guage how close to NiMh weight it is.

Only thing I suffer with currently is front end push on low grip surfaces, but we're working on that :)

I add 50 grams under each lipo and 40 grams to the front end, with no change on the setup it feels better handling than when using nimhs

car no batts = 1118g
car with 42's = 1543g

2wd min is 1474g for BRCA events

I need to add 254g :woot: to get up to weight using TP32 LiPo's (102g) if I've done my sums right. Might have to change from titainium/alloy screws to full metal also

OldTimer 05-11-2008 10:44 PM

100 grams out :p, each 3200 saddle is 100grams, so you only need to add around 150 grams, 50gram under each saddle and the rest around the front bulkhead

Irri Tant 05-11-2008 11:25 PM

 never was any good @ maths

I was running the Trakpower 3200 Lipo's in my SWB S2, towards the tail end of Last Year, but I've just recently upgraded to the Demon 4200 35C Saddles(Part No DS4235)for the new Season.
They are fractionally smaller than the Trakpowers, but still fit a treat in the S2.......they have a kind of Carbon Fibre effect Case as well, which looks cool:drool:

some other views of the demon 4200 lipos in my S2 (excuse the knackered tyres ) - they seem top notch so far - mental power....

i'll have some new and extra flashy battery straps soon - i'll post some pics when they are ready :thumbsup:

V-Rossi 26-03-2009 09:14 AM

Looks nice! I think I will be buying the LRP ones, you can't drive without a bit of blue in your car :woot:

i got on here to look at pics and i noticed you guys talking about the 3200 trakpower. i run it in dirt in a xx4 with a 10x2 and in five minutes i only use 1300 mah and my car is a rocket. i'm sure its plenty for a 2wd.

anyway, more pics guys. i've never seen any of thses cars in person so all i got is your pics!!!!!! in the states everyone runs the same stuff and i enjoy looking these!!!! anyway THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They have the power needed and enough runtime to do 6 min. of racing (which we do in Belgium), but the stick and saddle packs of 3200mAh cross the line of 50% empty after a heat, which isn't always good for their life expectancy. Guys using 4900mAh or so don't have this problem, and their packs last longer. Anyway, that's our experience with the 3200mAh battery packs :)

The numbers of battery use vary a lot, we have drivers who use 900mAh on a run, some 2500, and some 4wd drivers make it barely up to 1200.

91notch5.0 27-03-2009 06:13 PM

i thought it was only bad to run down a lipo until it was dead. i guess it all comes down to traction for how many mah are used. i run on very loose dirt. i imagine on clay or carpet it would take more out of the batt...
