Setup for Tf5 Shine? please help
Any good tip on a good standard setup for the TF5 Shine edition?
|
We dont have that version here in the UK so you may not get that many replies, especially from such an off road orientated fraternaity such as oOple

Well if you could tell me what surface and class you're running that would be a good help. As for Dave, erm I had a look at his setups and, you know, it's worth a try if you're running in a low power class, but I have serious doubts they'll work in 5-cell mod. He's done some weird stuff on these setups.

I run a 4,5 T Lrp/Vortex combo.
Track conditions indoor, carpet high grip and rough asfalt on the outside track with medium grip. But i Ran into a problem after finishing the build... I noticed that the steering rods came in heavy conflict with one of the the metal blocs that are holding the wisbones. is this normal? I followed the build as per the manual and everything was double checked and I still have the same problem. |

Very nice

As for the steering thing, once you'll have set the droop as per my setup it won't happen. I agree that it shouldn't happen but that's how the car is, all it does really is limit the amout of droop you can run at the front. |
Fabs:
When I try to put on some 30mm foam tyres on the rear they touch the ball link at the end of the supension shaft. What do you guys do to make them fit? Do you flip the wishbone arond and move the suspension lin 1 hole further in on the arm? ( if you flip it you will se there are 2 holes instead of one) What to do??? And will those changes effect handling? |

Hard to go fast on rubber for a rookie like me :D

Rubbers are much more rewarding to drive and because they stay the same size you don't have to spend half the race meeting adjusting ride height and gearing. But if foam is what you want... |
Tnx for the headz up :)
do you guys go as fast with rubber as with foam? |

Last race meeting I went to was an indoor carpet club meeting, I TQ'd and set the fastest laptimes with a 19T brushed motor and rubber tyres, against cars running modified motors and foams. Now I am not going to claim that I am any good as a driver, nor am I going to claim that the opposition was world class, but these are good club drivers whom I have always been on a similar pace to, and foams were no advantage for them at all. |

My advice is, if you're a newbie, stick to rubber, pick my setup and run a reasonably slow motor to start with, if you want to run 5-cell then i suggest a 6.5T as this is equivalent in power to a good 19T. |
I will be running in the superstock class with the 19T brushed or 10,5 T brushless.
Those are the options i have regarding motors but I stuck with the 10,5T brushless. Was really going for the 4,5T but too fast for my skills. |
Can't garantee that my setup will work with 6-cells but i'd still use it as a base setup.
|
I will ;)
Tnx again Fabs. |
Hi,
Karl Marsden asked me to pop by and see if I can help on Shin setups  I have a few, but the last one seems to be working well indoors and outdoors and is for 6 cell 10.5 and 6.5. Easy to drive and a good baseline to work from. http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/DWSaul...13787356989170 HTH Dave |

Cheers Dave for helping out with some of the guys questions. Dave has been running the Shin with some great results, 3rd at the KO GP, shoing that the car has potential and just needs running like most of our competitaion kits in the UK market. Any questions, drop him a PM or post a thread and we will do our best to help you TC boys. I guess with oople just being soooo good, you can't help but chat on here! Keep up the great work Jimmy! Regards Karl Marsden Kyosho UK |
Hi guys,
Here's a link to my setup from Carpet Wars round 2, which I used to qualify and finish 3rd last week end in 10.5/lipo. Any questions feel free to ask. Fab Setup is the correct one now. |
