What we doing this week in clubman lads?

Chris56 17-02-2014 09:34 PM

Im up for that - might run 17t

siddus74 17-02-2014 09:48 PM

Cool ... Think Martin and Gui are doin tamiya tourers ... And Stubo

Chris56 17-02-2014 10:04 PM

sweet - would you be able to bring those rubber tyres for me to try on the TB02? might ditch the foam!

siddus74 17-02-2014 10:07 PM

I'll grab some

Chris56 17-02-2014 10:50 PM

Cheers Scott - for foams I am using soft rears and hard fronts on the TB02, so I suspect it will need similar rubbers

siddus74 18-02-2014 07:08 PM

Having packed up a percentage of the workshop prior to the move I'm struggling to find the rubber dude sorry ...

Scott

reg 18-02-2014 08:39 PM

Scott

No worries mate, thanks for looking.

I've just ordered a set set of 24s, hopefully they will work better than those 32s that came with the car

siddus74 18-02-2014 11:15 PM

May bring the F104 down for blast Chris, you bringing your JPS?

msmith105e 19-02-2014 09:14 AM

Boooooo to scott running f1 booooooo

Chris56 19-02-2014 09:28 AM

I might bring the F1 down for a round - but will run it with the GT shell. I've added a wing to the back that I want to test

siddus74 19-02-2014 11:15 AM

Martin, I promise not to run it for more that 1 round buddy .... just need to test out some setup changes and the revised foam compounds ... :p

I'm TT02'ing' it with you lads 3 out 4 promise ...:wub

Scott.

Chris56 19-02-2014 11:53 AM

So looks like at least 3 of us (5 if Gui and Charlie race also), running TC for at least 3 rounds, 13/13.5t motors and foams:thumbsup:

siddus74 19-02-2014 11:54 AM

Yeah.... good eh? You running TB Chris?

Chris56 19-02-2014 12:01 PM

yes - car is handling really well at moment

The Doctor 19-02-2014 12:07 PM

Not racing this week, but toying with the idea of running the Jag in Clubman for the last indoor championship and setting up the Cougar for outdoor racing. Hooray, no more minipins needed (except for the last Saturday round...).

cunawarit 21-02-2014 09:24 AM

Taking the TL01 as was other than a more scale looking shell... Not had time to even let out a nice loud fart this week, so no chance of changing motors or gearing or anything.

But it does now have a shell that's more in keeping with the Clubman tradition. Anyway, Dave, will need a handout transponder or plugin... Not even had a chance to swap that round :( Shockingly, it isn't easy the way I've arranged the TL01 with everything inside the chassis itself.

Chris56 21-02-2014 12:25 PM

Thats the spirit Gui!

For once I will be running rubber tyres so watch out everybody - I might slide into you!

cunawarit 21-02-2014 01:35 PM

No worries, your wheels won't stay on for long ;)

I always have some spare for you

Chris56 23-02-2014 01:22 PM

So what will it be this week chaps? same again? quite like the idea of me/Gui on rubber tyres chasing down Martin/Scott on foams:thumbsup:

There was some good, close racing taking place on friday - just like clubman should be:D

cunawarit 23-02-2014 03:31 PM

Wasn't too bad was it? In the end I managed to clock the same number of laps as the foamies with you Chris right on my tail :D Might be better if Scott goes to rubber tyres as well and we all chase down Martin. We were 20 secs behind them over the whole 5 mins :D And my car could benefit from some more grip and yours from less oversteer. We can do it Chris :D

My car burn out though, so probably no Clubman for me next week  till I get the bits to sort it out anyway. Will prob go brushless 13.5 or 17.5.

PS: The poor lil TL01 still stinks of burn stuff!

Chris56 23-02-2014 04:00 PM

The pits did smell a little bit of burning after your incident! I've got a LIPO SAFE brushed esc you can borrow on friday if you want

Hopefully, running a tighter front diff should sort out my oversteer. How about trying some 24s for extra grip?

cunawarit 23-02-2014 04:17 PM

Sorry about the stink, my son kept asking when the smell would go away.

That's the plan, some softer tyres for starters :D And new electronics... perhaps just a new brushed ESC, but the old HPI 15T doesn't have a lot of poke coming out of corners.... lethargic....

siddus74 23-02-2014 05:04 PM

Yeah absolutely happy to run rubbers next Friday if you are participating Gui can you borrow the stuff from Chris if not is there anything I borrow you to get you going.

Martin, found a set of 28 sorex and a couple of sets of take off you can borrow if yours struggling for rubber and want to play ...

Gui if your not doing clubman us know and I'll leave the TT02 as it with foam ...

Scott. :D

On the motor/esc front, how about this combo:

http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking...arehouse_.html

You could go sensorless for less but at the moment Hobbyking don't have any 13T motors in.

I've got the 120A version of the esc for the buggy and its brilliant, but the 80A on will do fine for most uses - it says 10.5t limit on the spec but at 80A you are looking more like a 6.5T.

If you stay brushed there is also this that is LIPO safe:

Chris56 23-02-2014 08:00 PM

I must warn you I may be armed with a new secret weapon:D

siddus74 23-02-2014 08:39 PM

Do tell ....:woot:

Chris56 23-02-2014 09:06 PM

Might be on the limit of the clubman spirit, but it is Tamiya and has a plastic tub chassis.

cunawarit 23-02-2014 09:56 PM

The Clubman spirit when down a drain long long ago, bring anything you want and sod the spirit ;)

The spirit doesn't mean the same to everyone, certainly not when it comes to the car you run. As long as you consider it fun that's what matters.

Chris56 23-02-2014 10:02 PM

We're still all gentlemen aren't we? (ps its a TA05!!)

siddus74 23-02-2014 10:08 PM

Why do you say that Gui? What's on your mind?

cunawarit 23-02-2014 10:10 PM

Just ordered a 17.5T motor and ESC. Will order some softer tyres too.

Sorex do some 20s, or you are welcome to try my "Team Powers"

If you run 17.5T I will run my 17 with zero timing

siddus74 23-02-2014 10:59 PM

Why do you say the clubman spirit has gone? Martin in and I were waiting for each other in the final, just so we could go at it together again and again ... That's pinnacle of the clubman spirit ....

Offering the use of ones tyres and equipment is pinnacle of the clubman spirit as well :o

cunawarit 23-02-2014 11:04 PM

The TA05 looks like a sweet car mate, go for it! :D It would be nice to see the two 17 turns go head to head :D Boosted they might just about keep up with the 13s ;)
