Hi all,we thought we would share our latest creation that's ready for its silverstone debut tomorrow, the car belongs to Andy Reeves and tomorrow will be the first meeting out with the car, hopefully like Steve Haskins at the last meeting Andy will have the same success with Steve jumping from the F final at round 1 to the C final at round 2 after changing from his dex210 to the cobra 4210,andy's car based on the B44/B4 all joined together with superb high quality and work of Ken Rieth aka Cobra Racing Products, here are some pictures, hope you like what you see folks.

Feel free to follow us on facebook,Cobra Racing Products for the conversions we have created so far and all the future work and new parts we have coming out in the future.

stew_zs 13-12-2013 06:16 PM

I like the look of that !!! Tried it myself recently !!! Will these be available for sale ???

jasonrcb 13-12-2013 06:26 PM

Thankyou, yes the chassis is available for sale as all of the chassis conversions we have produced so far, price for the chassis is £25+ p+p.

There are more pics on our facebook page along with pictures of other hybrid conversions that we have done so far.

stew_zs 13-12-2013 06:51 PM

Could you post a link to the Facebook page don't seem to be able to find it

andy reeves 13-12-2013 07:34 PM

Link to Cobra Racing Products http://www.facebook.com/groups/539051429511100/

I would just like to thank Ken at Cobra Racing Products for manufacturing the chassis for me.

jasonrcb 13-12-2013 07:38 PM

Thanks for posting the link Andy, see you in the morning mate.

Wacker 3 14-12-2013 02:36 AM

The conversions look amazing, hope there will be a yokomo chassis soon!

Lee1972 14-12-2013 07:55 AM

Like it, good job  out of curiosity what shell are you using?

SLEENAD 14-12-2013 08:13 AM

Looks like a penguin to me (have a look on ebay).

Clarkie 14-12-2013 07:27 PM

Interested to know how you got on at the stone today? I take it that it's a b4 front and 44 rear?

jasonrcb 14-12-2013 07:46 PM

All of our shells variations are made by steve at penguin and there will be another version on the way very soon.

jasonrcb 14-12-2013 07:54 PM

Very pleased with the pace the car showed today especially as it was the first time Andy had driven the car in anger, very planted and easy to drive and compared to Andy's c4.1 he way improved over the best times he managed with the c4.1

His car is built off the b4.1 and b44.1,i will be working on a new topdeck as the 2 holes that used to hold the b44.1 steering drives me nuts,it works fine but i just dont like the look of it,the only part of the car that is not associated is losi xxx wing mounts and the lipo strap

ste_lazzaro 15-12-2013 11:29 AM

Hi! Really like your creation!
One question: how much is the wheelbase long? I read you started from a B44.1, but looks as you used the frot top deck at the back.. clever!!
What is needed to complete the conversion?
Chassis, body, battery strap... ??
Is there a full kit available?
Let me know, I'm really interested!!:drool::drool:

jasonrcb 15-12-2013 11:56 AM

Im glad you like what you see, right firstly the wheelbase is the same as the centro which we found was a good balance to the car,it is the front deck that we used as you also use the front centre driveshaft and you flip the diff in the casing, simple to do as you just cut off the lug thats in the housing and then just turn the diff round.
At the moment there isnt a full kit available but the sheels we use are from renguin custom bodyshells so simply drop steve a message and he will sort that,(we all race together so makes life easy)the lipo strap you make yourself,at the minute we have so much work on that we dont have enogh time at the minute but may produce lipo straps in the future.
The only part on the car that isn't AE are the wing mounts as for making life simple we used losi xxx mounts, you can use kit but you have to make up a bracket to keep the bottom of the mounts together

Hope that helps,as i say this all started as something myself Ken wanted to try and its just snowballed from there, once our cars had been seen on track then people wanted so here we are with hybrids springing up from everywhere.

ste_lazzaro 15-12-2013 01:07 PM

Thanks!
Wheelbase same as C4.1 or C4.2? I found the 4.2 way better..
Why not the stock B44 wing mount?
How do you keep the pack in place? Just with the strap? nothing on the chassis?
Thanks again!!;)

jasonrcb 15-12-2013 03:52 PM

Chassis length was based on the c4.2,i prefer the losi wing mounts and as i have a few sets kicking around i used them, the chassis is milled out so the lipo sits into the chassis so no other parts needed other than a strap, pic shows the chassis before electric install

ste_lazzaro 15-12-2013 06:35 PM

Great!! Thanks! I'll get in touch for the deal..

alex97 15-12-2013 07:16 PM

do you have to use a low profile servo ?

jasonrcb 15-12-2013 07:28 PM

A std size servo will fit but its tight

Lee1972 15-12-2013 07:32 PM

Where did you get the lipo strap from?

Lee1972 15-12-2013 07:33 PM

And how did you get on at Silverstone?

jasonrcb 15-12-2013 07:42 PM

The lipo strap was made out of piece of carbon i had lying around, nothing fancy and enough to do the job.

Silverstone was good and the car went very,i think it was well above what Andy was expecting as up until yesterday morning he hadn't driven the car, qualified much higher than he had previously with his c4.1 and was so much easier to drive in his opinion, alot more to come from the car as apart from yesterday all the car has been raced on is low grip astro outdoors, the pace of the car on high grip is night and day different to a std mid motor and there is now very little to choose between them on low grip in my opinion

Lee24h 15-12-2013 09:32 PM

i would like to see a b42.2 with a carbon chassis

ste_lazzaro 15-12-2013 09:58 PM

I think you can trim the unused drive cup to fit a longer servo..

OneKiwi 16-12-2013 06:40 AM

If you maybe could look at the XB4 or yokomo mr2 conversion that would be great.
Maybe even something with the 210 front/ ? rear

jasonrcb 16-12-2013 07:14 AM

Yokomo 4wd/2wd chassis conversion is on the list and should be all sorted in the new year,i have had a look at the xray and as yet not top of my list there are ideas floating around at the minute.

If you follow our facebook link on the first page you will see we have 2 durango versions already out, firstly is the Cobra 4210 which is a full durango conversion,we also have a B410 version using the 410 drivetrain and B4 front end, both versions are going well in testing and showing good promise

ste_lazzaro 16-12-2013 08:08 AM

..Now I see the reason why you couldn't use the stock wing mount..
What P/N is the losi one?
Thanks!;)

OneKiwi 16-12-2013 09:20 AM

Would you need a topdeck with the durango rear? OR could you do some delrin/CF/alu rails?
Would the yoko conversion use the yokomo front and rear?

jasonrcb 16-12-2013 09:37 AM

The durango versions have been run with no top deck and using the correct alloy there are no bending issues and we have abuse tested the chassis,we also have a weight that bolts to the chassis that acts as rail but i found the car is not as good in the wet with the rail fitted.

The yokomo will be full yokomo front and rear, obviouysly once we have the first car out and the template made then you could have any front end you wanted really

alex97 16-12-2013 09:46 AM

are you planning to make one that can take saddle packs ?

jasonrcb 16-12-2013 10:01 AM

We have a Tamiya 511/201 that uses saddles, the belt drive cars seem better that way,i dont see a saddle/shaft drive on my list of things to try,for that just take the front diff out of your 4wd.

andy reeves 16-12-2013 12:36 PM

I have to say that for my first outing with the car it ran faultlessly all day. It had the drive of a 4wd but with a touch of under-steer. Seen as I didn't alter the set up all day I am fairly sure that I will be able to make it go quicker next time. The amount of speed that you can carry through the corners with these cars is scary.

Jamie B4 16-12-2013 02:24 PM

Congrats guys Andy,Jase,Ken had a quick look at it but didnt see much as he was in the heat before me and my final but believe the speed he could carry was very impressive

ste_lazzaro 16-12-2013 05:01 PM

I found part LOSA4222 for the XXX CR.
Is this the right one?
Unfortunately it looks no more available in the UK.
Suggestions?

jasonrcb 16-12-2013 05:26 PM

Thanks Jamie,we appreciate your comments and thanks for taking the time to have a look, see you trackside again soon

jasonrcb 16-12-2013 05:29 PM

I would say that a call to DMS racing and you may find he will have the wing mounts,he still carries a good supply of older losi parts, ebay i have seen them come up on there.

You can use ansmann/teamc,kyosho,durango,tamiya mounts by drilling an extra hole in the tower

Tom3012 18-12-2013 09:11 AM

Can you buy the b4, b44 version yet?

stew_zs 18-12-2013 09:17 AM

Tom,

I placed a order with jason recently for it

He said first batch is being made

jasonrcb 18-12-2013 09:23 AM

Hi Tom,yes they are available abd as stew says the first batch is being made as we speak,im not sure we can get anymore made before xmas as the response has certainly suprised us all:thumbsup:,xmas postage also comes into play which is a pain in the rear.
