2008 Worlds - Predictons?

Who will do it in 2008? Car/Driver? Looks wide open right now, although they reckon the track is quite European style.. So it may not be another Pavidis job..

1/8th off-road, does anyone here even care?!!

ben 08-09-2008 04:42 PM

cragg.......

niggs98 08-09-2008 04:56 PM

as much as i hate to say it
has got to be drake. the man is on fire at the mo.
craggy will give him a damn good run for his money tho. then there are the obvious other gonna be close if they have the luck people like aigon, battle, tebo, caveleri, tortoricci, vega, savouy and hazlewood.

will be good to watch either way

ben 08-09-2008 05:02 PM

James 08-09-2008 05:06 PM

I'll check the entry list...

Although it could be anyones, I would probably say my money is on Guillaume Vray, previous winner, podium last Worlds and he is driving the Mugen which I think has got to be one of the favourite chassis along with the RC8 (if it holds together), Kyosho and Losi.

Drake and James are on fire though I agree, and then you have Pavidis.. no, I'll say it again, it's wide open!! It's gonna be great to watch  (online)

HKP 08-09-2008 07:41 PM

UK Drivers:
CRAGG
HAZLEWOOD
CROMPTON
ALSOP
JACKSON
BOOTH
WILLETTS

ben 08-09-2008 07:52 PM

How come bloomer's isnt going

ben

jimmy 08-09-2008 07:57 PM

He didn't qualify I don't think? He's one of the fastest guys around so it's a shame. My money is on butch!

tjpMT2 08-09-2008 09:04 PM

Taylor for the win  New Hong Nor seems like its pretty fast but Drake/Truhe could win though if these new Losi bits are as good as Losi are hoping, or it could by a Kyosho again with the new MP9 go Cody King! Or will Kortz keep his car together? Alsop did pretty well at Slough against the US people although Slough is his home track...

racingdwarf 08-09-2008 10:01 PM

Come on Karl Jackson:thumbsup:

Teddy truman 09-09-2008 07:18 AM

Tebo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
taylor james!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lee 09-09-2008 09:28 AM

Have people forgot about Truhe :o

I would love to see a brit win it and spank them on home turf although it is unlikely :(

Chris Doughty 09-09-2008 11:19 AM

Go Hupo! (if he is racing)

EDIT - did anyone else see that random log section?? I thought american tracks didn't have crap like that in them??

Yardeeee 09-09-2008 12:59 PM

Travis Amezcua... when the ROAR nats were held on that track a few years ago he TQed every single round- ok he lost the final, but winning every round is still a record at that event I think. OK yes he was racing for Losi, but now he's rockin' a HOTTTT BODDDDDDDDDIIIIIEEEEESSS! I tip him to do well... but the winner will be him, Drake or Maifield.

BRS 09-09-2008 01:39 PM

That log section cheapens the whole thing for me, it screams toy car obsticle race. If they really want randum car reactions why not plant a few landmines on the straights...

exactly!!!

BRS 09-09-2008 01:47 PM

Haha dont get me started Mr Doughty.... people who put stuff like that in tracks surely can not have been a decent racer or a racer at all??

What was that other US race few months back with the blue astro sections with star shaped pipes underneath it

I saw that as well, I believe I think along the same lines as yourself then, jumps and whoops are fine, random obsticles are NOT fine..

anyway, like you said, thats probably for another topic...

go LRP!

bigred5765 09-09-2008 01:51 PM

Spot on

Anyway I'm thinking the yanks will be hard to beat, Truhe, Cavaleri, Drake, Tebo etc

A 1hour final is a bit of a lottery though, if your in it you stand a decent chance.

bigred5765 09-09-2008 02:10 PM

omg is that for the rock crawling comp, lol

niggs98 09-09-2008 02:36 PM

reminds me of the euros in france a couple of years back racing on hard pack chalk and had a simlar obstical that was so random that it won and lost races. not good

Neil Skull 09-09-2008 10:11 PM

It has to be an American.

Drake, Lutz, King, Pavidis, to name a few

Many Many drivers could win, i really dont expect cragg to win the Uk drivers will have to rasie the game to compete with the US guys on home ground.
Even the good european drivers the Agions Reckward Bertin etc will have to make the best race to just qualify for the A Main.

GRIFF55 09-09-2008 10:32 PM

maifield for me!

You do have a point, but there is nothing like the biggest race of all time to make someone raise their game, some people rise to the meeting, some do the oposite.

any live coverage?

glypo 10-09-2008 09:59 AM

I think it will be very hard for anyone but Americans to get into top 10.

There is perhaps a chance for Savoya, Y. Aigoin... or similar of getting here.

But the top bunch of Americans - Drake, Truhe, Maifield, Tebo, James, Cavaleri, etc etc etc I think there is nothing between them, so hard to say who will win. That is of course assuming they are all in the Worlds, not all the good US drivers got places :o

Hopefully the Americans will be shocked at how flat and the track is and that there's not the usual 50 foot jump they normally have on US tracks and go home crying

caneye 13-09-2008 06:49 AM

let's not forget, the last time the worlds was held in the US .. it wasn't won by an american!!

woot ..

i remember Reims Nathan but i also remember it rained all week & the weather was the biggest obstacle for all the drivers
there was a similar log section in Crete for this years Euros
the regular drivers crashed out on it but the fast guys just cleared it every time!
the fast guys are fast whatevers on the track!
i think it shows the organisers have just tried to provide a more varied challenging track

not sure who's gonna win, an hour main leaves things wide open

Robert Battle is FAST tho
Renaud Savoya is consistant
Drake & Truhe are awesome around there
too many good drivers to choose from

one things for sure its gonna be a good one

Moose 13-09-2008 11:12 AM

TQ: Jerome Aigion
Win: Battle

Chris Doughty 16-09-2008 10:46 AM

Seems that Truhe is dialled after first praccy, Travis maybe more-so but he ran in an earlier heat on a greener track (litterally - there is grass on it!!)

but it seems those times can't be held to much, people still tuning and testing.

it certainly is going to be a close call!!

Northy 16-09-2008 11:14 AM

Got to be Taylor James, just because he's ACE and he runs Jammin's car, and Jammin is DOUBLE ACE

G

showtime 16-09-2008 12:35 PM

i predict the rain will ruin the meting & it will be more about luck than driving! damn shame

Northy 16-09-2008 12:38 PM

Yeah, it's raining isn't it Adam?
I was on LiveRC but couldn't log in or get and video or sound. I saw you guys busting each others balls though! :woot:

G

showtime 16-09-2008 01:12 PM
