Broxtowe 4wd Regional 7th Sept

HI All,

Is the meeting going ahead on sunday... We've had heaps of rain here and its forecast to continue today, tommorrow and sunday (but a little less), i'm guessing you will have had similar to what we've had here (Blyth) and that this would have interfered with grass cutting etc..

Just wondering what the clubs thoughts were? try and run it/postpone it to a later date/end the season here?

Sorry to sound depressing, i dont mean to :)

RSharpy 05-09-2008 07:49 AM

James I live 2 minutes from the track and its pi$$in it down....

On a positive note the track drains well with it being on a bank.

But its not the best date for a regional, sandwiched between the EOS's and what are two long weekends.. :bored:

Robfo 05-09-2008 09:47 AM

Can't it just be run on the TC track with some astro down? I was hoping to come and have a play:(

blitzboy 05-09-2008 12:02 PM

sadly i won t be there guys got shells everywhere but hey thats what i do ,,, ps any one got any cat shells give them to nathan and pm me aftre the meeting if you want other than that have a good one guy mid east rules :thumbsup::thumbsup:

RSharpy 05-09-2008 12:03 PM

Looking at the forcast thats not such a bad idea Rob, although the hall will no doubt be booked up for this Sunday.

If the meeting runs its going to be a muddy one....

Robbiejuk 05-09-2008 12:05 PM

I don't think the meeting can be abandoned until the actual day of racing can it? Robs suggestion of the astro could be a good alternative although I wouldn't like to be putting the astro away if it gets a good soaking, can imagine it would be quite heavy. Anyway I will be turning up on the morning and see what decision is made. Hopefulyl it will be like holbeach and I can get a good finishing score

it will be good practice for you for Cov, as looking at the weather it will be wet then ...

RSharpy 05-09-2008 12:08 PM

Its the cleaning my car bit I don't like Wraggy.

But I have a bigger problem, its a 4wd regional and I dont have a 4wd car

blitzboy 05-09-2008 12:09 PM

whoooo i like the rain

Cheers, but I would struggle, theres some good lads in our region :)

With referance to Rob F's earlier post, I misread that one, the turf I would say is still managable when wet but I don't think it would be a good idea putting it away whilst wet, may flood the hut, go moldy... not sure:confused:

bondy 05-09-2008 02:26 PM

deerdale

Come and race at deerdale :woot:

! you will have tons of fun on the new track !

Lap times will be a little longer than usuall and you will get full speed in 4 places ! and the jumps will scare you shitless ! But its all astro !

shark 05-09-2008 04:09 PM

I was thinking today it might be an idea to run on the astro ,forecast is not good, its going to be hard to get the grass cut if my lawns are anything to go by!

James 05-09-2008 04:11 PM

It is very, very, very moist here .....

RSharpy 05-09-2008 04:24 PM

Still pi$$in it down here.

If we try and run it, it may be another Holbeach! get wet and muddy, a couple of speedo's go pop, cancel the meet after two rounds and end up with topsy turvy results.

I say bring the season to a end now, i'll get 2nd place and James 19th. UNLUCKY Mr Helliwell :p:p:p

James 05-09-2008 04:34 PM

Such events will not be re-scheduled and any relevant championship qualification will be reduced accordingly i.e. if there were four rounds to count from six, then one abandoned event would mean there are three rounds to count from five, etc.

:p

2nd...

its not bad, but not as good as 1st

RSharpy 05-09-2008 04:37 PM

Fookin Hell, the rule books coming out now....... James is getting serious

James 05-09-2008 04:40 PM

I have slowly gone mad throughout the day, the rain has kept me indoors and has caused a serious case of cabin fever :wtf:

Alan 05-09-2008 05:01 PM

I know the feeling mate, have been stuck in the office all day
Unfortunatly I will not be there Sunday come rain or shine. Have decided not to run 4wd until I get the CAT & after a two day event last weekend and one coming up the following a bit of quality time with the future Mrs Sharp wouldn't go a miss. ;)
Hope it stays dry for you guys and that you have a good one, will try and pop down for an hour in the afternoon

RSharpy 05-09-2008 05:24 PM

To add to that- I might come down and referee the finals, so I can give Austin some more stop, go, penalties :p:p:p (whilst wearing the glasses:lol:)

nottmboy 05-09-2008 08:12 PM

don't forget you don't have to run 4wd regional
you can run open 2wd and 4wd(lipo)
SO THERES NO EXCUSE

p.s. if it wasn't for clubs running regionals there wouldn't be any finals
weekends !!! (but how you can have the finals before beats me :wtf:)

hope to see plenty of you there sunday morning come rain or shine

sime46 06-09-2008 07:29 AM

As long as its not full on monsoon conditions I'll be there for open 2wd. Great track and always fun racing at broxtowe. Not many outdoor racing oppertunities left for us mid east club racers at this point in the season. Cant wait for sunday. What time do we need to get there?

ned 06-09-2008 11:04 AM

Sharpy what has happened to the Kyosho? Worked quite well on flat grass at West Bridgford and you wouldnt need to clean it just put it in the cupboard when you have finished never to be used again!! And as for you mr Helliwell you cant give in that easily. The sun is shining here, maybe we should hold it at the Anglian Motel it will be guaranteed not to rain then.

sime46 06-09-2008 11:28 AM

What time do we need to be there for in the morning?

Unfortunatly the lazer is ready for sale, I don't want to get it dirty and it as no radio gear in it etc. I would run the RB5 but don't want to get that dirty either with me running it on Saturday. Sorry to let the side down.. see you guys at some point during the day..

shark 07-09-2008 03:19 PM

Well done Alan , Andy ,Steve and crew .Great meeting again I have really enjoyed my first season of regionals. I would also like to thank the rain for coming in between qualifiying and the finals perfect timing

dadtc3 07-09-2008 03:31 PM

shark 07-09-2008 03:38 PM

MattW 07-09-2008 03:51 PM

Tony, word from Nathan is that he TQ'ed and won, don't nkow any more than that. That would make him champ as well i think.

blitzboy 07-09-2008 03:52 PM

just like to say big thanks to those that bothered to turn up,
thanks to those that stopped and help pack away.
shame on everyone who shied away because of a few drops of rain,:(
it was a cracking meeting as usual, the track was superb and even after a weeks rain showed no sign of breaking up.

we go to alot of effort to put these meets on and its very disheartening when there is such a poor turnout, especially when it seemed as though there were more visitors than club members.
two lads even turned up from the midwest because theres had been canceled.
please remember it's the members club not the committee's
we can only respond to the members wishes
so when our efforts aren't supported ? who knows.
over 20hrs (most of it in the rain) were put in by three people before the event to make it happen, time i'm sure we could have spent elsewhere.
personally i enjoy doing it but i'm not going to sacrifice my racing any longer (i've been able to do one meeting away from broxtowe this year)
if we don't get a bit more support from club members.

right moan over, look forward to seeing you all at the superb indoor offroad events 1st sunday of the month
and sat nights from the 27th on wards
cheers andy.
