Depression emotional Animated Films we grew up with
Well I’m down now, really low.
Last night Sarah watched the rescuers and she got a little up set with it, I watched it with her and remember feeling sad when I first watched it around 6 years old Any way I got speaking to some of the guys in work about it and we started talking about other Animated films that depressed us as kids, after the chat I went on Wikipedia and searched the films mentioned most I had seen, and again reading the Plots I remembered the films effect on me as a child and how sad I felt watching them- Question is what the hell was the point in all the sad films with orphans moms dieing and people being separated for there families This is some that came up The Land before Time An American Tail The Rescuers All Dogs do to Heaven Can you add any? |
Land before time  Very sad films

-- There used to be an animated animal kids tv programme on where a load of animals were in the woods, had a fox as a leader, cant remember the name but I watched the ickle hedgehogs trying to cross the road and one didnt make it. That could explain why I am the way I am... Scarred for life..all over an animated hedgehog. |

Thats the f00ker!
Classic. Anyone remember the kiddys tv programme with the hand puppet mouses, the big cow and the little ducks on the pond? Had some bloke in there too..summat like Dappledown Farm? Amarzin' Kids nowadays just dont have access to such classics. No knife crime in my youth, we were all to busy watching animals on TV |
If you want disturbing animation - do a search on YouTube for "Salad Fingers".........very dark.

Lion King Simba trying to awaken his dead father. |
The Incredible Journey - 1963 Disney movie about a labrador, a bull terrier and a siamese cat stranded when their owner moves, making a 200 mile journey to find them. Frightening, joyful and tearful all in one. A true great!

Dumbo was really sad as well when his old dear gets taken away and a tear slides down her trunk  and then she tries to reach out and hug him with it :cry: but she can't :cry::cry:.... Again, sadness later offset by his ear inspired flight and the ammo it gave us all, to rip the piss out of our big eared friends. I also thought Ice Age was sad when Mannie looks at those wall engravings and it reminds him of those poachers who killed his mum and dad. AGAIN sadness offset with the stupidity of syd the sloth. To conclude this lecture, the saddest cartoony films often are offset with humour or happy endings which maintain kids' enchantment with such films. :wub Best Disney film continues to be the jungle book... oh, whoop-e-doo, I wanna be like youuuuu, shap ee doobee do wap... Oh yeah, and I know its not animated as such but who didn't cry when ET died and he was lying on the bed looking kind of like a white dog-turd (which come to think of it you don't see any more, hmmm).

Fritz the cat was very informative when an uncle of mine let me watch it thinking it was a kids cartoon and it ended up being a hip cat in 70's clothes f***ing everything in sight and doing LSD
One flew over the cuckoo's nest was heartwrenching when Jack Nicholson gets lobotomised at the end after having wanted to free the other inmates... |
