That one, yes :) At least, that's what we've last heard/seen from it.

Looks almost identical to durango and yes i know durango bought them out. Question is the gearbox, are they using the same crappy design layshaft on the dex210 or something more solid?

Serpent bought in to Gerd Stranges Durango project but then went bust, I beleive Serpent are now owned by an Asian company and have nothing to do with Team Durango.

mark christopher 24-07-2013 06:49 PM

the 2wd was developed way after the deal for serpent to produce the durango 410, would have been the serpent s500,
Durango are also owned by a far aisan company!

Durango, Axial and Arrma were all sold to Hobbico 18 months ago, so they are technically US companies now. Kingstar in Taiwan still makes the kits though.

Lee24h 04-08-2013 10:18 AM

Back to the car it looks like the love child of a losi xxx-cr and durango 210

Hey, it looks like they did the gull wing front suspension right. Hooray for Billy, that's a rare feat.

DEXtrain 29-09-2013 02:52 PM

What exactly did they do right? What is so rare? - spindle carriers remind of something from the far past but the gullwings? what is so special about them?

Well most brands seem to add the gull wing to the arms and forget to change the geometry of the shock tower. The end result is just wrong.

Now shipping

mes 09-10-2013 02:52 PM

Just read about it. I am really interested in this buggy, although I am absolutely satisfied with my Yokomo... I guess I'll wait until I see one at the track before buying a new 2WD, my two-season-old B-Max2 will be raced by my son next year.

johnboy 10-10-2013 09:58 PM

The car has arrived in the UK

mark christopher 11-10-2013 08:00 PM

Not doing Worksop this year mark. Also our lass is past due date with baby so can't be too far away.

Shame and Good luck!

Wacker 2 13-10-2013 10:49 PM

Took receipt of my Serpent Spyder kit on Friday morning... went together really well - one of the best buggy kits I've ever built (and I've built my fair share!)

Finally got round to spraying and mounting the shell last night so all thats left is to find somewhere to run it

Looks like a nice piece of kit. By the way, nice paint job!

Wacker 2 14-10-2013 06:06 PM

Cheers matey

mes 15-10-2013 03:07 PM

Got myself a 4.5 mm nut driver on eBay - just in case... :D

adey 15-10-2013 09:47 PM

I agree it looks great. Are they doing a mid motor version ?

Wacker 2 15-10-2013 10:14 PM

Mes... a decent set of nut drivers would definitely help make the build easier.

And Adey, Serpent are releasing a mid motor car... I haven't seen any pictures of the mid motor kit but I've heard release will be around November.

Nice to see a manufacturer make a purpose built rear motor car and purpose built mid motor car as apposed to trying to fumble one kit together that will allow for either option.

I've already got my name down for a mid motor car so I shall get one of the first ones available... I will be sure to post pics as and when I get it.

Then I look forward to seeing you all trackside

Kurtje 16-10-2013 06:22 AM

I've won in the last race from the Benelux 1/8th nitro buggy championshîp a Serpent Spyder. I'm very curious how it's gonna be!!!

...

Right, quality tools are always a must. The 4.5 was the only on I did not have in my tool box already, fixed that! As for the Serpent line of cars, I am mainly looking forward to the 2WD Short Course Truck. Our 2WD SC Stock class is by far the most popular, and I'd like to join the crowd again. None of the currently available SCTs is my cup of tea. Yokomo will probably not enter the SC competition anytime soon, and if a Kyosho RB-6 based truck was to be released next year, it would probably cost a fortune...

My Spyder build

Hi all, I do the serpent promo websites and the teamserpent sites, I am going to build the car today and tomorrow and will post updates if you are interested go to the page linked below.

I have started the build page and will continue to build the car this afternoon :-)

Link to Spyder Build page

Any questions you have about this and the mid motor version please ask I will get answers directly from Billy and Ronald at Serpent HQ for you.

I do know there are a lot of upgrades arriving soon for this one including diff gear set if that is your pleasure, it can directly replace the ball diff setup.

Anyway let me know if you have any questions that need answering.

The last pic is of a few upgrades and parts I ordered with more coming ;)

Tom

I forwarded your build page on rctech, and here's a comment by user Captcha:

Great blog, and not pointing this out to be a jerk, but I noticed it, and figured you would appreciate someone letting you know.

500232 Shock spring pink 2.2lbs rr (2) SRX3

You put SRX3 instead of SRX2.

TomHow 28-10-2013 01:28 PM

whoops :)

added more today on the build page

TomHow 28-10-2013 01:30 PM

Mid motor version by end of November beginning December

SCT will be early next year as it will be based on the buggy anyway so not too much design work to do.

mes 28-10-2013 06:02 PM

I had hoped for an X-mas SCT release, but not a problem - there are still so many Yaiba Racing and Avid RC parts I can buy and try to make the SC10 a proper truck, before it will become a short course buggy... ;)
