Quad flight videos...
Here is my latest quad flight video, where I try my Naza in Attn mode, and then have a practice in full manual mode (switched in at 2:30) and in and out of that mode afterwards. its manic! going to need to practice in that.

Keychain camera on my 330.
Very, very windy in the local park, with my kids on their bikes. Ended up having to stop flying it as the wind kept taking it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMw4lNi__x0 |

Hi,
Esc's are hobbywing Ubec 20 amp,simon K flashed.....motors are RC timer 2822/12...1800KV..with 8.45 props..... |
Simon.
Looks awesome - question for you. Are you flying with self level switched on for the KK or not? I've updated to 1.5 firmware and I can fly it nicely with self level on - if I turn it off it's bloody hard to fly as it does not level up. Not sure if this is normal - and I just need to learn, or if i've done something wrong. Basically, with self level on I can fly it - without it I can't unless I really, really focus! Can you fly it aggressively and do flips and stuff with self level on - or does it all need to be off in order to do flips? Cheers. Andy |
Hi,
Yes im flying with self level off...you cant do flips etc with self level on......I have only been flying since xmas.....practice with self level on..then switch it off..its a bit hard at first but you'll be surprised how easy it gets......you might need to turn your stick scaling down,,this makes it less sensitive.... |

is stick scaling like adding an exponential curve to the stick? or setting a dual rate? |

There is a 1000+ page thread (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1675613) on the kk2 over on rcgroups.com, and yes, I have read it all... took a very, very, very long time! |
Flights from 2013-06-25. Was messing with basic and attitude gains tonight.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gRqFJ-JlxI 10:10 duck! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7Om8lBcDYs Some nice low passes in this, from 03:00. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W295jMvNXgo Crash in the last video, watch from 03:58. |
Video of my flying in the park. I tried to film the Quad from my camera on a tripod - but it kept going out of shot! I dropped in the on-board footage from the keychain on the Quad too :)

vid not working
|
Works perfectly for me. Andy that's ace! Mental fast and manoeuvrable, And i know you are only touching the throttle. Not how the naza flys on GPS or ATTI modes. In manual its mental, but doesn't autolevel, so your skills need to be up there to keep it in the air. Also, with my DJI motors, you need to be running 4S to get the sort of speeds you are seeing on yours.
|
working for me too now.
Nice flying area. Looks very well set up. Just out of intertest... what sort of P and I gains are you running with that wierdo speedo of yours? |
Col.
KK setup is as follows: P Gain 60 (I could go higher but it's responsive at this with no oscillations) P Limit 100 I Gain 5 I Limit 20 on the rudders it's P Gain 60 P limit 20 I Gain 20 I Limit 10 Self Level is set at: P Gain 40 (this is I believe how much the board wants to level the quad - higher values make it right itself quicker - but I set it lower as I want to dial out some of the self level. At 40, the Quad levels very progressively) P Limit 70 (this I believe is how much Input you have against the self level wanting to work, low values make the Quad very stable, but less agile. I've found 70 allows me to get is sidewards is I want to :)) Height Dampening I have set at 5. This is a bit hight, but it means after a fast low sweep across the ground, when I yaw and rudder to turn / fly a big arc, the Quad want to go up rather then turn into the floor, I have to sometimes fight against this, but I figure it's safer having the Quad want to climb when Yawing, rather than falling as it would with it set at 0 |
here's video of my spidex with brushless gimbal
and video footage from my TBS Discovery |
Nice set-up(s) Mark!

Maiden flights of my TBS Discovery with GoPro Hero 2 from tonight.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAi9MZCG07I http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFRI3HGDA8M http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlWZo24-ksM Second or third videos are probably a bit better. not a lot going on where I've been flying, but plenty of space with nothing to hit. |
|
Looks good Neal - not really any jello - good stuff.
My video is frankly unwatchable ! Mounting the keychain in the down wash from the props is obviously a bad idea ! Simon K esc's on this morning - initial thought (in my small garden) not a massive difference. Running slightly higher PI settings with no wobble - it does feel nice and responsive :) Think I may have fixed the 330 - I hard reset the Kk2 / re input all the settings and recalibrated it - seems better:) |

Good job with the 330/KK2. I'm going to build one after flying yours. It's just a fun little thing, totally different to flying mine. |
|
Hi Neal
Still looks good - a bit of vibration I'd say rather than 'jello'. I mounted the GoPro under the 450 and the results were good, but not rock steady - still that tiny vibration on hover -.like on your vids. I think I need to balance my props by sanding them - I assume you can sand the plastic ones? Are your vids with perfectly balanced props? I bet they would be better with sunnysky motors too - cant get over how smooth and well balanced they feel on the bench. I've also read about vibration damping between the arm and motors - although I've not found an off the shelf product / solution you can buy. Looking at GoPros - cant decide - too many to choose from - might pick an older one up on eBay. Although the v3 is lighter and smaller - which would be good :) |
Two props I balanced by sanding, the other two have tape. I need to sort this out, and try my motors for balance too with a vibrometer. yes you can sand plastic props. 1000grit wet and dry.
Costco have the Hero 2, same as mine for £160+vat. I'd have a black if I was getting a new one, but I'd probably buy in America and have someone bring it over when they came. |
This evening at RHR after some work on the Invernational track.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBOUjjD04CY Odd glitch at 3:22. Was flying flat out in ATTI mode, felt like it stuck flat out, but then levelled and stopped and I gained full control again? |
Not Pro camera set up! but good fun Quad all the same.
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v...type=2&theater they can be fitted with an optional camera. Also some footage from UID Camera quad to follow! |
Here is the first ever video from mine.
808#16 is "snugly" fitted inbetween the top plate and the middle plate. Nothing holding it in, no velcro, no sticky pads. It isn't tight, but don't think it will fall out either. They were all filmed continuously, I've just removed the bits with my nearly naked kids playing in the back garden. I've also made sure that youtube hasn't changed them at all, so what you see is what was filmed. Also on vimeo... maybe. Struggling with it a bit! not sure how to embed them, but it's the same video as above anyway. http://vimeo.com/70415340 https://vimeo.com/70415341 |
Vids from RHR 24/7/2013

Just found that theres multirotor section on oOple
Heres mine with rc offroad cars and some water. |
Here's a video of my aerobatic tricopter that I built
|
First attempt at video from my quad
First try, also first flight was the day before for 30 seconds, still some work to do setting up the quad, and probably a better camera mount |
Flight vids from today.
First was a bit of a fly about. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vm_oBL_qlx8 Second with some crash action! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwRHUFQJK4s First crash it just dropped out the sky at low speed/height. I felt one motor died as I did a low speed yaw. Prop stuck in ground, but it was all fine. Second crash was my own fault. Lost both ends of a prop, and now that motor feels very tight, so probably a write-off? I thought that was the motor that failed in the first crash, and its had a hit on that one previously in my famous invert at a York school. |
Nothing to hit in the field except the goalposts - and you hit one ;)
Looks like your flying & speed is getting better though :) |

Cheers, feels better and flying a lot more controlled now, I've stopped messing with the gains and returned to my original values ;-) |
Uploaded a few more vids on youtube. clicky.
