Hoping to have it out by the end of July - not sure if we'll be able to meet that but fingers crossed...

Seen some pics of the new box etc, looks good. Just wondering what has been done regarding the variable (bendy) chassis?

Ron Burgundy 10-06-2013 06:26 PM

Does anyone think ae may release their own C4.2 under their own brand? As in JConcepts and the BJ4? It seems to really fit the same characteristics and as US tracks and/or large races we are seeing more mid motor cars arguably dominating the rear motor market, surely it would be the best option for them to seamlessly move into that market.

I didnt actually look and see if there was a thread for this, apologies if there is :) feel free to move mods!

I heard there was a "new" B5 which was rear motor and Ally chassis coming for the worlds and then the B5 mid would be a conversion for the rear motor car.

But how true this is i dont know

andy05 10-06-2013 07:31 PM

Ryan Cavalieri And Craggy have just run the C4.2 at the pre worlds coming 2nd and 3rd. So mid motor testing at a big event on clay!!!!!

Burty248 10-06-2013 09:46 PM

I suspect they might just stick with the b4 / c4 currect setup, or some sorta hybrid. But problem is i dont think ae will want to market the "bendy" c4 untill any issues are ironed out.

wezzer 11-06-2013 10:39 AM

they used the c4.1, not the .2 !

Will there be an upgrade conversion from c4.1 to c4.2 or just the conversion from b4 to c4.2?

I very much doubt we'll see a "C4.2" kit or conversion.

You can make your own now anyway, with a B4.2 kit, the centro C4.1 kit, and the "new" lwb chassis. Run shorty lipos in it and set it up like Craggy's. That's a C4.2.

I think the next moulded gearbox will be used with a plastic tub chassis, or tub/Ali combo chassis, and it won't be called a C4.2. I also think the wait will be longer, certainly until after the worlds...

No the moulded gearbox is the c4.2 where as the long chassis is the c4.1 +8mm.

Otherwise why we talking about a c4.2 when its allready out?

No, my opinion still stands. AE has no mid motor car. They have history of taking a development chassis and making it their new model (b44). The cml c4.1 has proven itself. Looks like AE need a mid motor chassis to win the sugary worlds. They are already working with the C4.1 platform, which works well now for craggy and cav, and we are not likely to see a new model (for sale) before the world's.
The B4.2 was a freshen up of the B4.1. Why would they call a new flagship mid motor car a similar point revision name, when its not?

Also, has anyone from cml or AE said there will be a c4.2 out, and that's its official name? All we have seen are some new moulded plastic bits that need a new chassis, that we haven't seen yet.

My view is we won't see a product on the shelves called a C4.2.

They should call the new car C4.3 just to make thinks even more confusing!

2/3 people in the know have confirmed this read the posts!

Ok for the record!!

There is a new conversion kit coming.
This will have new chassis, new moulded gearbox, new rear bulkhead and rear tower, new arm mounts, multiple battery layout options.

This conversion will be available late July if all goes to plan.

This is a complete new kit and nothing from this kit will fit the original c4/c4.1.
any questions just message me on [email protected]

I'll keep my eye out for all the C4.1's which will be going up for sale :)

Lee1972 12-06-2013 10:03 AM

Are there any pictures yet?

wezzer 12-06-2013 10:15 AM

not really finnished pictures, i have posted some gear box CAD images but as its all prototype stuff yet its not a finished product so not very pretty to look at.
soon though, real soon!

Thanks for the clarity. But will it be called a C4.2?

They already did! Loads have been changing hands for a while now. Lots were sold a few months ago when the rumours started.

wezzer 12-06-2013 10:42 AM

it should be called the C4.2 yes.

ASR 12-06-2013 04:08 PM

Nice !, can you confirm/disclose any information about bendy chassis improvements wezzer?, as for me personally, this will make or break the conversion, not sure about others?

Also, will the old shells still fit?

Who cares it's not finished yet! We want to see the pictures! Oh and before you ask, yes, I'm already drooling but I have a hanky at hand, so let 'm rip!

Jamie B4 13-06-2013 11:27 AM

C4.2

Cheers Keith/Wezzer - looking good

Neal - what were you on about - be good to get facts rather than speculate. If in doubt ask cml guys they will be first to know.

Seen a prototype from a cml distance and looks like alot of changes but like anything we will have to wait and iron out any issues - is there a reason for the delay or just getting the kits sorted. Think the gearbox will be a massive improvement and looking forward to it.

Any news yet on UK release date... Wes from CML said July on above post...must have meant US of A. and as it is available there, why not here ?

wezzer 18-09-2013 09:18 AM

hi
The kits will be ready early next week, week starting 23/09/2013, the reason the USA got some kits before it was released over here is they had to gear up for the worlds! most of the AE team will be running the C4.2 at the worlds if the traction is as it's expected to be.
we have a delay of a few days for the release of the C4.2 in the UK over the USA. if there wasnt a worlds going on then this kit would of been availlable here before the USA.
