Lee 06-08-2008 09:27 AM

No i think he ran a different one, matts i think, but i know they have spare shells, grant sprayed one up at the event:)

Cruise 06-08-2008 09:28 AM

It's the shell of Phils showcar. I wanted to paint it at the euros but my compressor went on strike so I had to run the "German National Color body"
The first time I didn't sport my own colors in almost 20 years.

Cruise

telboy 06-08-2008 05:28 PM

I've got one to paint up in my NEW colours, but you can't see it until its been in the mag.

MattW 06-08-2008 08:36 PM

the body looks real nice:drool:

Chrislong 07-08-2008 05:55 PM

I don't know what pictures some of you guys have seen, but the SX shell is really nicely shaped.

If your talking about ugly shells, what about the Yokomo BX, Tamiya 501X, XXX4 G+, I could go on - but ive just eaten.

Then there are the bland "me too" shells - BJ4, BJ44 sport, newer Yokomo BX shell - I can't tell the difference. The SX shell I reckon matches these for looks, but beats them on originality.

ben 07-08-2008 06:05 PM

Spot on chris:thumbsup:

Hmmm, you neatly side-stepped the ugliest shell by a country mile for obvious reasons. The X-5 is the most disgusting thing I've ever seen on 4 wheels. The 501X & Yokomo BX are super models to the X-Factory's Vanessa Feltz.....

The SX shell is definitely unique & looks ace in the flesh - for some reason it doesn't photograph too well, much like the new Jaguar XF

telboy 07-08-2008 07:51 PM

After having painted a few, I just think that the windows need re-shaping. I've got on here that I' doing and I've painted the windows how I think they should be, and it transorms the looks of the shell.

Shape wise its pretty good.

I do admit though the X-5 is THE worst shell I've seen.
No offence to X-Factory, but it looks like they've just got los of blocks and stuck them on the vacforming machine where they think they need bits to stick out. It just looks a bit rushed to me.

Hopefully they'll re-design it for future models/versions.

DCM 07-08-2008 08:11 PM

the X-5 makes it hard to paint symetricaly, as it got a big fat tumor on it's left side, and I tend to agree with Tel, Lego block vac forming, saying that, it is better than the 'option' shell they had a while ago, that was thinnger than a condom.

The SX shell seems to follow that odd line the X-5 cockpit, but the BIG side windows over emphasise that too.

GRIFF55 07-08-2008 08:23 PM

i quite like the sx shell, looks more buggy like than most:thumbsup:. Can't wait to see a few more of the paint jobs

In that case, I am quite fond of Vanessa Feltz.... :woot:

DCM 07-08-2008 09:22 PM

I am sure, if Chris thought the shell was pig ugly, the only people to know would be X-Factory.... Poker face Chris... Poker face lol

telboy 07-08-2008 09:58 PM

whos face are we poking?:eh?::p

...strange you should say that.:D Its the side windows that I've modified on the one I've got here for RRCi. Looks much more 'flowing'.
