Roger Wood Memorial - 2nd June
Roger Wood ran the Bury Metro club for many years and after sadly passing earlier this year the club have organised a proper tribute race with proceeds going to Rogers chosen charity.
JE Models will have some great prizes on offer and it's looking to be a good fun days racing where we can all share our favourite memories of Roger. You can download the PDF HERE |

This is shaping up to be a very promising tribute to our departed Race Controller so I just need to say a massive thanks to all who've pledged their support. Neils already mentioned our sponsors (sorry they weren't in the original message as they signed up afterwards) but I'd also like to add we are being 'Supported' by Southport, Ribble and South Lakes clubs, all of whom have been promoting this meeting to their members, and especially Southport who have closed for the day so their members can join us. Also TheButtyMan will be present providing top quality catering again with a donation to our charity. See you all there! |

At present I've got 17 2wd spaces, 6 4wd spaces and 1-5 truck spaces depending on how many in a heat. I'd prefer 8 trucks rather than 10. I will drop a heat of 2wd if we get a few more 4wds or trucks ie jump from 17 2wd spaces to only 7 so book in fast to avoid disappointment. Info for the Roger Wood Meeting 2/6/13
Hi all, we at Bury want to make this a memorable meeting and fun which is what Roger would have wanted.
So here's the information:- Goshen Sports Centre Tennyson Avenue (Off Manchester Rd) Bury BL9 9RG **Car Parking** We will try to accommodate cars the best we can in the car park next to the track, we have a large grass area on the left as you drive onto the Bury RC car park. Race gear and gazebos to be dropped off and cars parked in the main car park. Gazebos can also be pitched down the back fence / side fence of the track in single file. Bury Members will be directing cars in the morning. Car share if possible please. Gates open at 8am, booking in 8:30am, briefing at 9:15am and first race 9:30am. The Butty van will be on site all day. Cupcakes for the top three drivers in all finals. Raffle prize's donated by :- Answer RC, Bolton Model Mart, Buds Balls, JE Models, LMR, MB Models to be after the finals, your race entry will be drawn out of a hat. Any issues drop me or Si a pm. |

Now I can't fit any more heats in the day without racing till midnight, but we did run a few 11 car heats day without issue so I'm going to chance it. Is the large field area on the outskirts of the track still available to use? From the info pack is says the area on the left is to be used, however it could be a bit tight with such large numbers.

Yes and no.
Single file down the back of the track and sides. The field to the left we can use all the way down the back of the new gymnastics. This will be plenty of room for all drivers. I have heard of someone pulling out of the meeting due to the carpark rule :thumbdown: we can accommodate some cars but this will be after others have pulled in and dropped there gear off. This format works at large 8th scale RX nationals with 120 drivers at pendle so no reason it can't work at Bury. |
