tm2 setup

right peeps
I bought one of the first batch tm2s and set t up as per manual, we race on high grip carpet with a few wooden jumps, the track changes every 6 weeks the first track the car was awsome and i was only .5 sec a lap off the lads thats been racing for yrs, track change 1 = very inconsistant ,it had a long sweeping bend flowed by a long straight to a sharp bend, the car would wash out mid way through the sweeper no matter what i did i was just loosing time constantly, i did finish 3rd in series tho:thumbsup:
2nd track change= long straight to a sharp 180 switchback, on braking and turn in the car dives in with far too much grip on entry (at the front) and tips over,on the slow secions the car is supurb, i just feel i am chasing my tail ive had a lad look at it and he cant explain whats happening, i have tried all the setups on here to no evail:confused:
cheers danny

I'm not saying this is the answer, but what weight oil have you got in the diff, or have you checked the oil level..? Could it be be underfilled or 'too' light oil so you are overrotating the back end..?

john333 10-05-2013 08:27 PM

Would need to see it, but it does sound diff related to me too

mgdannyk 10-05-2013 08:28 PM

Hi mate, if you can spare the time get down to Solverstone as said above, i can check the car over for you no problem and i'm sure we can sort it. You can also try mine to see if thats the sort of setup you want.

Alec

GLYN WARD 15-05-2013 08:13 PM

first time out at a race meeting with ant and tm2 gratham sun 2nd round quali 4th overall and fastest lap of day then rains came.
set up we had on was 30w front 20w rear kit springs all round.
shocks front outer top and bottom, rear top mid hole bottom outer and 1mm rear roll bar.
front wing 30mm, b4 wheels all round only diff to kit cougar sv2 front hubs in line washer behind pin rear to stop binding. ant ran another car in wet as he did not want to get new car wet as it was so good.
john ran our setup and like it all we did on his car for wet was move rear shocks in one hole top bottom he did 2 laps before he started wet run with roll bar disconnected but told me to put it back on and said it was a lot better. will report on her what we find in future.
something I have found is do not run 4wd carbon rear shock tower it is not the same as moulded tower.

Just bought a rear carbon tower - what's the problem with it?

Smartalec 15-05-2013 08:49 PM

Hi Glynn, what problem did you find with the carbon tower?

GLYN WARD 15-05-2013 09:55 PM

carbon tower shock holes and wing holes are 3mm higher than standard one so drive shafts lock out on up travel. will keep you posted as we have lots of things we are looking at. ant took standard car last wed to blyth and let james helliwell drive it he bought one next day. ant says best car he as driven even better than vega.

one more thing I forgot in setup we ran gear diff with 7000 weight oil but are going to 10,000 weight

john333 16-05-2013 11:05 AM

The carbon upgrade tower (TU0429) is identical to the standard TM2 plastic one, its the kit carbon one out of the T4 which seems to be different
