Wow!!!! Tamiya is reaaaaaly cool!!
Are they working on B4 version as well?

MHeadling 03-05-2013 06:05 PM

I hope so as that's what I'v got and would love to try the Gen 3 out on my car, I imagine Vega will as the Associated is a popular platform for the Vega conversion.

Keep an eye on Oople and the Facebook page for news

Toyman 03-05-2013 06:14 PM

If I have Gen 1, can I just swap chassis leaving old Gen 1 gearbox?

rc_penguin 03-05-2013 06:21 PM

That pic is an RB6 with weight kit Mark, there's a tamiya pic on Lee's page I think :)

MHeadling 03-05-2013 06:32 PM

Pedros20 03-05-2013 08:37 PM

I have to say it does look awesome! & love my RB5 Vega.
Does anyone know how much the RB6 conversion will cost?
Or is it a case of if you need to ask you can't afford it! Lol.
Would like to know so I can transfer some cash!

bigt 03-05-2013 08:43 PM

I'm wondering if my gen2 can go back and be brought up to date for a modest fee

andoiwebb 03-05-2013 09:28 PM

Hope I get it so I can race it next weekend, can't wait, looks awesome!

AndyG 03-05-2013 09:59 PM

This is the RC equivalent of a Bugatti kettle!

andoiwebb 04-05-2013 06:46 AM

Sausage thumbs, duplicate post

andoiwebb 04-05-2013 06:49 AM

That's not true, I've just googled the Bugatti kettle and it looks rubbish. Also, it's designed to replace the Kyosho kettle, so does actually serve a purpose.

paulj 06-05-2013 07:10 PM

Have these been released yet for the RB6? I can't see anything on the website yet?

phil c 06-05-2013 08:02 PM

I might be daft but the chassis and weight kit look stunning but how is the weight kit secured down ? If you use double sided then the weights are higher then the cut outs ! Getting rid of the need for them ??

Mrs.TeamXtreme 06-05-2013 10:05 PM

Here they are guys

Mrs.TeamXtreme 06-05-2013 10:07 PM

Hi Phil C,

As the chassis's have been machined out, the weights sit snuggly in the pockets. All your radio gear etc goes on top of it as usual - I hope this helps

Lee1972 06-05-2013 10:13 PM

Will you be doing one of these for the B4.1?

Mrs.TeamXtreme 06-05-2013 10:16 PM

Hi Lee,

Yes we are working on doing the B4

Lee1972 06-05-2013 10:22 PM

Will it be a full conversion kit or for those with the Gen 2 can we just order the new chassis?

coleman758 04-06-2013 11:25 AM

Will there be an RB5 Gen3 or just the RB6?

Ditto? Although im so impressed with gen 2!!

xfactor 04-06-2013 07:58 PM

I asked this to Team Xtreme and i was told there would be only the rb6 Gen3 no rb5 :(

coleman758 05-06-2013 04:53 PM

Surely the RB5 would be more popular than the RB6?

I agree that its a new car and all..... But considering the RB6 is ~£360 then the conversion is £210.... Why would I spend the extra £210 on an already(GOOD!) mid motor car?

The 22 conversion I thinks a good idea, mainly because I thought the 22 was crap in mid motor!

On the other hand, If there was a GEN3 RB5, I would have already bought it for the £210....

They have taken the time to make the B4/B4.1 & 201 which are of about the same age as the RB5? The RB5 is not old tech by any means and to be honest I swear by them!

tomtom 05-06-2013 06:09 PM

Considering you may want to use alloy rear hangers, alloy steering and maybe even small bores and RB5 arms, only the front is needed to complete a RB6 Gen III once you have a RB5 and parts at hand.

I'm considering it, try to know if the RB6 shell could fit as well as pictures of the new shell.

xfactor 05-06-2013 06:40 PM

100% agree with you both coleman and tomtom, the best 2wd buggy i have owned is my rb5 gen2 wc for outdoors, does everything its says it does on the tin and looks fantastic.Shame that a chassis wasnt/hasnt been made for the gen2 rb5 boys as the rb6 gen3 uses at min the rb5 vega box and like tomtom said the only part of the rb6 is the front as everything else is rb5.

Thats why im going for the Tamiya gen3 when its out :D:D:D:D:D:D but wont be selling the gen2 rb5 wc.

Do you have a parts list of what you'll need?

coleman758 06-06-2013 08:57 AM

So in theory, If you own an RB5....

You could have an RB6 Gen3 Vega, For less than the cost of the RB6 Kit....

ME LIKE!

I'm going to have a look at this in more detail. Looking at it all you would actually need is the front bulkhead setup & Steering assembly. All the wishbones, hubs & carriers, shocks, turnbuckles etc could carry from the RB5

Good! I'm far to lazy to work it all out!, be a love and let me know

coleman758 06-06-2013 09:33 AM

Ok, this is my theory.

Assuming you have an RB5... The rear end is pretty much taken care of, The GB using the RB5 & Vega Kit. With exception of the RB6 wishbones although they will come with the front ones.

Now the front, Assuming i'm going to use the RB5 Hubs & Carriers, The RB6 ones could be used too but its a few more parts...

This is what I think you need:

UM704 - Upper Plate - £9.49
UM703 - Bulkhead - £7.75
UM718 Steering Cranks - £6.76
UM716 Crank Arms - £7.75
LA256 Spacers - £5.99
BRG002 Bearings - £4.99
UM712 - Wishbones (FR & RR) - £8.50 X2 (£17.00)
UM720 - FR Plate - £13.49
UM707 - Shock Tower - £8.50
UM710 - Bumper - £6.76

I make that £88.48 (Inside Line Racing)

You could make it a touch less if you used the RB5 wishbones

So....

Vega 3 Kit - £210
Front End ~£88

~£298 + RB5

I have more RB5 stuff than Kyosho! So all is good.

Dudders 06-06-2013 03:32 PM

Awesome! You're a superstar! It's really not true what I heard about you after all

Cheers buddy and thanks for the pm heads up ;)

bigt 06-06-2013 05:10 PM

the rb6 wishbones come front or rear no mixed

I build my Vega with parts like Coleman758 said. But i used Exotek part and Lunsford parts also. So the car barely has any kyosho parts... :)Attachment 54620

damo_hall 07-06-2013 07:50 AM

WOW!! Now that does look a nice bit of kit matey!!

coleman758 07-06-2013 08:44 AM

If I do decide to go down the VEGA 3 route, Il send mine of to be anodised!

The chassis & Gearbox look ace in black!!

RB6 Vega Gen III

Here are some pictures of my RB6 Vega Gen III.

While it may have taken longer than expected to get here and included a few speed bumps along the way it built superbly well and I'm very happy with the quality of the product. I'm still not convinced about the bodyshell styling but it is a huge improvement over the older bodies to my eyes.
