Blackpool Club - Now With Added Buggies
Racers of the Fylde Coast, Blackpool RC club is changing.
The current permanent indoor carpet track is being transformed into a buggy track, with soon to be added jumps and bumps. Everything is still under construction but should be ready in the next 2 weeks. For more info email Niall at [email protected] |
UPDATE
We've been very busy building jumps, painting and even vacuuming (!!!!!) I'll be uploading some pictures early next week to show you all what we've been up to. (Once I work out how to do it) Opening Night will be on Saturday 11th May However, for those who can't wait that long (like me :)) we are going to have a preview evening on Saturday 4th May. (To make sure everything works) If you'd like to come to the preview please either email Niall ([email protected]) or post a reply on here. More news coming soon |
Sounds like you've been doing a lot of work - I can't wait to see the pictures!
I would be interested in attending the preview as well. |
Great, glad you want to come down and have a look.
I'll have more details tomorrow and some pictures as all the ramps should be finished. We have been busy, but it's going to be completely worth it. |

Hi
It is indeed taking shape but not as quickly as we'd hoped. So unfortunately we are not going to be able to do the preview day this Saturday. The plan is to get everything done properly (rather than rushing) ready for the grand opening on Saturday 11th. I've attached a few more photos of how things look at the moment. The table top and ramped turn are looking amazing. Can't wait for them to be finished. |

We're nearly there. A few finishing touches, a bit of a tidy up and we will be ready for opening night. |
OPENING NIGHT - more details Saturday 11th May The track will open at 3pm for practice. Racing starts at 6pm. We will run 3, 5 minute heats, followed by finals. There are pitting tables set up for 36 people and space for more. Food and drink is available from the on-site cafe. Plenty of parking. Prices will be £5 for racing and £3 for practice. Really looking forward to seeing new faces and lots of fun racing. |
The address is:
Cropper Rd Marton Blackpool FY4 5LB Keep an eye out for the sign for Ramp City. We are in the same building. |
Looks very impressive mate...looks like a lot of hard work has gone in to the building of the track.
Is it a permanent venue |
Also...how big is the venue.
It looks big...should be able to open the car up fully in there im guessing |
Looking foward to this cant make the 11th but is it on every sat? As am looking to get booked in for the week after how do I put my name down for booking?
|
Looks good Lawrence
|
The track is roughly the same size as Ardent was so nice and large to open up your modified motors :-D
If you guys are interested in racing please drop me a email at [email protected] and I will compile a entry list. Just add in the email your name, ability 1-10 (1 being beginer 10 being pro driver) and either 2wd or 4wd. 2wd & 4wd welcome :-) Hope to see you guys soon :-) Niall Aka marshmallow |
Thanks guys, our little team have worked hard. Now for the fun part :)
Stax - It is a permanent venue. The track will be laid out all week, so once we have things established there may be opportunities for other things. The straight is apparantly 100ft long (is that about 30 metres?). I am particularly pleased to have the banked turn at the end to help with braking :) Corsa - We will be doing this every Saturday, so don't worry about missing the 11th. You will have plenty of chances to come down. To be honest we haven't finalised the booking system yet, but I'll make sure your name is on the list  |
Marshmallow?
|
Cheers Lee :)
Will you be joining us? |
Once the championship at Ribble is finished then we'll look at getting over.
|
Are you planning on running 2wd and 4wd in separate heats?
|
Lee, I think we would like to, but it will depend on the split that we get.
For the first week, we will almost certainly be running 2wd & 4wd together. |
Wow, the finished track looks very impressive and I like the natural braking point at the end of the straight
I'm looking forward to trying it out next Saturday, well done on creating such a professional looking setup. |
Have you taken your car around the track yet Lawrence
Im guessing the ramped corner works slightly better than the bare wall Chris |
No, not had chance to have a proper run yet, Chris.
We've just had a quick blast to check the ramps are okay. The construction crew are meeting up tomorrow night to finish off and take some photos, so I'll have a go then. I'm definitely hoping that the ramped turn will be more forgiving than the wall :) I really need to learn how to use the brake....... Gmcelroy - thanks for your comments, I'll pass them on to the rest of the guys. We are really excited about Saturday too. It will be good to see you there. Lawrence |
Looking great Laurence.
Won't be able to make the opening. But good luck :) |
I won't be able to make next Saturday, but I will certainly be there the Saturday after
Im looking forward to it, it looks fantastic What tyres are we allowed to run? Are foams allowed |
Cheers Matt :)
Chris, yes you can run foam tyres if you like. Have you bought yourself some? |
After a blast round the track last night we have made a couple of adjustments.
We've removed the rumble strip for now (until we make something a bit more tyre friendly), and we have added an extra piece of wood to the ramped turn to make it less steep on entry. Also, we have pit tables set up for around 36 people, but we only have 20 chairs. So if you are coming along and you have a folding chair or similar, please can you bring it with you just in case  |
So does the track flow well
|
What tyres are you allowing then on Saturday? Will mini-pins be ok to use?
Andy |
Chris, the track is great.
Only my driving skill is holding me back :) Andy, mini pins are ideal. That's what most of us will be using. Some people have asked about using foams and they are fine too. We removed the rumble strip as it would have ruined foam tyres in it's current form. A revised version will be ready for week 2. |

Thinking about making the trip up on Saturday with the K1 and I'll bring along the EMB-1 Micro as well for a blast around! Hopefully see you about 3pm! |
Excellent :)
See you then, Andy |
The track look awesome! There will be a few of us comin over from ribble
|
Thanks Gaz, that's great news.
I'm at Ribble tomorrow so I'll see you there :) |
