Lots of looks, no questions??
Great first outing for Lee with Viper products, a 4th and a 5th overall. Actually one spot better in 4wd than last year at Kidderminster!! And he is just getting used to the systems and the set up..... more to come...... |
Can you tell us who are the UK distributors for Viper products?
|
DMS Used to do them, but dont any more.
Darren Boyle may be able to shed more light on this |
I believe Lee Martin will be helping out with selling Viper products.
Otherwise you have to buy from the states, but their service and support is very good, just should get better when a full time distributor is appointed. |
Ive just sent a faulty unit back to the USA for replacement and the service was excellent.
Very easy, they have a really polished order system and Eric from Viper RC was really helpful. |

All customers were advised at the time to send faulty product directly back to the USA, most have been dealt with successfully and professionally, some have sadly not. |

Just a comment - My son Eben Coetzee is current 2wd and 4wd mod champ in South Africa. We have been using Viper VTX10R (orange) in 2wd and VTX10R (black) in 4wd with great success. We have extreme temperatures over here, large open tracks with good traction and no issues at all. Had our 2nd Nationals this weekend (which he won) and ran without a fan in die DEX410. Outside temps at 24 degrees Celsius (autumn on its way), 5.5 turn motor and 19 pinion. Performed great with no thermal problems. We love them! |
i've got the same, vtx10R 2WD 10R black 4WD
when i got the first one it was quite soon after they were released, i set them up to give reverse, they worked ok, plenty of power and brakes, smooth to drive, reverse wasn't great but they did get fairly hot. then i tried fwd only with motor timing, and there amazing, stay really cool now, both fans have been removed from the cars, and the power is almost silly, 4wd was pulling wheelies at the last meeting. i've also got a second VTX10R which i bought before the black, however when installing it in the 4wd i crossed the power connectors over, plugged in big spark ect. it does still work but overheats after 2 or 3 mins really need to get round to sending it off for repair/exchange |
I've just sent back a 2ndhand out of waranty VTX... Very fast response and a more than reasonable 'deal' to replace the irrepairable speedo with a new unit.
Thanks... |
Wow, ask and ye shall receive ------
First, yes we have new dealers in progress of getting signed up, I don't want to release names or anything yet, because until they have product in the country, it wouldn't help anyone. Next to answer some of the posts. Thanks to racers like Lee, and the Coetzee's we are building up quite a nice string of accomplishments around the world -- ROAR National Champions, Snowbirds Champions, IIC Champions, and African National Champions - just to name a few. But Performance is only part of what we do, we believe above all else in help our customers to the best of our ability. Now that doesn't always mean its perfect -- but its what we strive for, whether that customer is in US or UK, or anywhere else. We are here to help and support, just let us know. PM me here, I will be checking in daily (albeit at a time difference from the US). RickRick - still works after being plugging in wrong? Check the capacitor barrels on the top board, spec them with calipers if you have them, if one is swelled, it might be causing the overheats. Also check other things like motor temp cut off - if its set around 220-230 and still cutting off, might want to send it. Upgrade and samd -- thanks for the kind words, hope to see more as we grow Keep the questions coming, would be glad to answer...... |
So I understand the first UK Stockist has an order being processed.... not long now new UK fans....

I have a Viper VTX1 running A55 firmware in my Schumacher SupaStox running on 1S, loving the unit really smooth and fast and always seems to keep cool.
The only question I have is there any way I can improve the brakes? I have the brake frequency turned right down that has helped a bit, or is this just the nature of 1S? It seems to be more obvious at lower speeds. |
PM me what settings you are using and we will see what we can do. Between the low voltage and today's motors, there isn't much there to provide braking power. But let's see what settings you are using.
|
Just updated to A55 firmware on one of my VTX10r's. Having also fitted the larger power capacitor. I'm expecting good things from this speed controller now.
I had almost given up on any V link profile editing software becoming available too, so much so that I hadn't bothered to see if it was available having waited so long. But I now see it has arrived, and it seems to work nicely. I'd purchased my V link ages ago, did one firmware update, then it sat in the pitbox as it had no other use. Better late than never though I guess. I'll be happy if all goes well on track now. Would be good if you could get some 4wd off road set-up sheets on the site though, any chance? |

Hopefully in time and with more people using Viper this thread can become a sticky like the Tekin one is. I'm certainly looking forward to see who will be selling Viper products in the UK and Europe. |
Don't know what the sticky rules are.....or who to contact?
We have several different dealers who contacted us and some purchased product already so be on the look out, I will announce it once I know. |
Congrats to Lee for his second place finishes at Round 2 of the BRCA National series. I hear he had quite a dual with Neil in 4wd - can't wait til a report is published to see the race!!!!!
As for a 4wd set up - must drivers use Profile 2, only changes may be to Throttle Freq - between 9600 and 12000 (depending on the feel you like) and Punch - depending on your traction. Set your brakes to your liking, and go for the win!!!!! |
Viper system wont work :-(
Hi. Just come back from my weekly club meet and not very happy.
I'm running a TLR 22 fitted with Viper ESC and sensored 7.5t motor. On heat 2 the car started to run really slow half way through and then after my stint of marshalling, i took the car back to the table, powered it up and it wouldn't run. It powers up and the lights all flash as they should and I re-calibrated the controller, but the motor still didnt turn unless i turned the back wheels, then it ran but at a slower pace. Once i let go of the trigger, it stopped and wouldnt turn again unless i moved the wheels again. I recharged my saddle pack, but still didnt help. I connected the programme card and loaded up a new profile, but still nothing unless i start the wheels moving myself, and then only at less than half speed (if that!!). My charger didnt say anything was wrong with the batteries so am i using the programme card wrong or something? When i pull the throttle, the LEDs change as they should so i know the radio is working. Can anyone help please?? |
Sorry Jimbo, I was traveling and didn't see your post, I responded on the other thread, sounds like motor related. Bad motor, sensor or wire. Try another motor if you have one,

What's happening about a 1/8th buggy / truggy motor range? Have Viper got something nice in the works?
|
Yes they do, more information coming soon :)
|
Looking to release the 1/8 motor line in or around July if all goes as planned.
|
Huge congratulations to Lee Martin for winning the latest round of the BRCA National series in 2wd. A Main in 4wd with some other types of difficulties.
|
Pretty quiet in here -- Lee is showing the speedos to be some one of the fastest on both sides of the pond. VTX8's are running circles around competition in 1/8 and 1/10 SC here in the US.
What more can you tell you or show you about these great products!!!!:thumbsup::drool: |

Just some feedback with regards to Eben. As planned he is currently in Switzerland. Had bad luck with weather and missed first two races. The past weekend first International experience (French National Champs), against the likes of Renaud Savoya, Yannick Aigoin, Lorenzo Crolla, Antoine Rossetti to name a few. Was great experience. Biggest adaption I think is the schedule and "speed" with which things were happening. In SA we have the Sunday, Thursday and Friday to practice with Qualifiers on Saturday and finals on Sunday. In this race no practice, scheduled practice on Saturday morning for 2 and half hours and then straight into 3 qualifiers and the 1 qualifier on Sunday morning and then 3 finals. End of Saturday he managed qualifying 5th in 2wd and 13th in 4wd. Had some bad luck in 4wd with collapsed bearing etc and believe that he can do much better. Lap times showed that and was positive with one qualifier for the next morning. Unfortunately weather did not play with and all racing cancelled for Sunday. It was very disappointing because just got used to schedule, track conditions and the pace of the front runners. Would have been great to have an opportunity in the finals. We are very excited about the results taking into consideration, first time International experience, no support structure (mechanic), schedule and the language barrier. It was great experience and looking now looking forward to the Kampenhout Belguim GP where approximately 80 drivers per class is expected. Going to be complete new experience as he has never raced on Astro. Just want to mention Antoine Rossetti and say thanks for the effort that he put in to make it possible to attend and all the help during the event. Without him it would not have been possible. Viper performed flawless! |
Buks,
Thank you very much for the information, I had seen the top results from the event, but not the top 5 -- that is a very good result, especially with the circumstances. Very nice to hear, congratulations. I look forward to hearing more about his success in Europe -- please keep me in the loop for what events he is attending and when. |
Lee Martin wins 4wd with his VTX10R Black Edition at the latest round of the BRCA National Championships. Continuing to show the VTX10R can handle the rigors of racing around the world -- why wait -- get winning power now!! In stock at LMR Racing - http://l-m-racing.co.uk/products/ind...ory&path=60_69
or www.shopviperrc.com |
What is the voltage output for the fan supply on the VTX10R BE? I think it would be 5vdc but not sure as the BEC voltage is higher.
|
Is anyone in the UK bringing in Viper 8th speed controllers now? Has ReptileRC stopped?
|
I'm not sure about Reptile RC, he is Nas on oOple but I did see that he was selling some new VTX8 in the trade section.
It may be worth emailing Lee Martin/LM Racing as he is using them so he may start to import them as well as the VTX10R units. |
