Show us you Stadium Trucks

Hey you guys, I thought that, since there is a "show us" thread for the SCs, I would create one for it's down trodden but older brother, the stadium truck. With it's big wheels and it's unrealistic look, it does have a more aggressive stance and arguably, a more race orientated chassis.

So I'll kick off with my el cheapo Team C TC02T, Which so far, Have not had chance to race properly but have done a few laps at my local club.

Running an old Novak GTB, with an SP 6.5 sat in the back. Savox low profile up front. Team C Ali front wishbone mount with brass insert, and Paint by Magoo. That's about it for now.

Lets take a quick look:

Can I play?

Here's my mid-old school Losi XXT

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...k/IMGP2181.jpg

Its the top-spec Graphite Plus model, i restored/cleaned it up a year or so a go & now runs a sensorless brushless set-up in it. The shell (Which was NOS from DMS) represents my first attempt at using liquid mask:)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...k/IMGP2173.jpg

I haven't raced this truck, but it makes a good fun park runner:cool:

Shaun_TLR 25-02-2013 04:19 PM

what front and rear tyres is everyone running? I was thinking schumacher yellow mini spikes for the rear and stabbered ribs for the front, but seem to struggle with rear end grip mid corner

ta

ps will post pics shortly when shes clean :)

Darren Boyle 25-02-2013 04:29 PM

Lots of racers this time of year are resorting to using the JConcepts Goose Bumps (in Green compound) which are very good in the moist conditions on astro etc...

Crazy L 25-02-2013 06:56 PM

We found, so far, down at Torch, Losi step pins in red work well, with staggered ribs up front so far. Was lacking in off power corner speed, but modded the ackerman. Much better now

DerbyDan, I had a old XXT, back in the late '90s. Mine too came with the Damn Yankees membership card, as I bought it from DMS, oddly enough. They were THE Losi dealer at the time.:)

Still are ;) (even after 21 years in the business)

Danosborne6661 25-02-2013 11:07 PM

My T4 :D Couldn't get the cut staggers to work on the front so I cut them all off, haven't tried it properly since! On high speed corners it had far too much steering, felt like the tall cuts were just falling over.

Does it get used?;)

Keep them coming chaps, some top trucks so far:thumbsup:

My truck project will be done within the next month hopefully, so far it looks nothing like the trucks on here (its in bits). My philosophy is chop off what you can, see how it goes... but it really is utterly fantastic to see these trucks. Anyone tried sc wheels/tires on one? Wondering how it would look.

Thats cool - who makes the 'Bug' bodies??

Scouser 11-03-2013 06:01 PM

That was a Parma shell. You can still get them, I think Modelsport have them in stock at the minute but I got mine from DMS.
Takes a bit of work to get it to fit right but worth it in the end. :)

Big thumbs up there mush:thumbsup:

what you running under the Shell?

In my TC02T, I'm using old bore shocks, 32.5 in front and 27.5 in rear as a start, with Schumacher yellow minispikes and yellow staggered ribs.

I've found the stagger ribs need cutting back to 3 rows to stop the over steer mid corner, I've booked in for the open wheel class at the short course nats

naomiswanson 05-04-2013 07:34 AM

Actually, I was so disappointed of what you stated for. I am also experiencing this kind of problem and us of now, I am planning to make a stadium car. Moreover, this car contains of good features such us complete wheels and good tires.

UK Short Course Nationals

Hi Guys

Sorry for the blatant thread hijack, but you don't get if you don't ask!

We are running a heat for Stadium trucks at all rounds of the SC Nationals this year and it would be great if we could get some of you guys racing.

We have a few Stadiums already booked for the first round on the 14th April at Surry and Hants and a few more threatening to book in!

As always with these things the more that enter then more that will enter.

It would be great to at least run a full heat :)

All the details for the series can be found here:

www.ukshortcourse.com

Thanks

Chris

No sorry, I got mine from dinball iirc. $105 which didn't include postage of course, but I went for cheap (read: slow) which took a week and a half. I originally took a look at SMD, considering they're the disty, but JB doe's not do them. Saying that, If you asked him nicely and offered him a curry and a nice bottle of wine, he might get you one especially lol

Crazy L 04-03-2014 09:14 PM

Wow, this thread has died a death eh.

Just working on a tweak for my TC02T, including lowering the shell as I think it's mounted too high. Also, stumbled on a couple of ali bits from ebay.

Pics of the tweaks coming soon.

Lee24h 04-03-2014 09:35 PM

I hope it dont die i like this yhread maybe more clubs could do more like silverstone to promote trucks as they are brilliant outside

Nice pics there dude, although we are talking about 1/10th stadium here, not 1/8th truggy. If there was a "show us yer truggy" (is that a euphamism?) Thread I would blurt out some pics of my hyper st.

Alas, as it happens.

AE GT2.

Crazy L 06-03-2014 08:27 PM

Loving the C4.2T JonD, Shame the trucks aren't as popular as they were.

Heres a couple of pics of the mods I've done to my TC02T, now dubbed the TC02T+ :)

1st indications are from the shell, the rear mounts are now further back, this makes getting the clips one and off a whole lot easier, as their original position between the number boards was fiddly. The shell has been lowered also.

http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i1...pse390c067.jpg

Ah, that could be how then, the wing/body mounts have been moved back and down with this little number, no drilling/butchering required either, but what's that in the lower right of the picture?

http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i1...ps667fec5f.jpg

A pair of little chassis braces, again, machined so that no extra work is needed to the standard chassis components.

http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i1...ps77bab539.jpg

The thing that tells the story though is here, a new T piece, giving a 15mm increase in wheelbase, thus making the truck less square, and hopefully, less prone to it swapping ends when someone so much as looks at it in a funny way.

http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i1...psaf5ce60b.jpg

All pieces are machined from 6062, programmed by hand off the top of my head, in lunch breaks over a number of weeks (and the odd sly one in works time of course;))

Testing it out at the weekend at my local with any luck. Hope you guys like.

Crazy L 13-03-2014 09:36 PM

Testing went ok down the local. Steady 9 lapper, though I'm hoping to get it doing 10s.

The machined parts did what I was hoping as the car was more stable than it ever has been.
