Spu83 16-02-2013 05:03 AM

a picture will help a lot.

badger5 16-02-2013 09:13 AM

It sounds like the two middle belt pulleys are not in line, check to see if you have both pulley shafts spaced and installed correctly.

cryer-evo 16-02-2013 09:40 AM

i will see if i can get a pic put up also will check to see if every thing is lined up

so ? have peaple seen this befor

cryer-evo 16-02-2013 10:42 AM

right then have gone though every thing and cant see nothing wrong at all so i gess it must just be a bad belt

bigred5765 16-02-2013 10:55 AM

how do you fit the belt to the car

cryer-evo 16-02-2013 03:29 PM

same as every one els

bigred5765 16-02-2013 03:55 PM

which is ?
buy the way there is more than one way to fit it, but only one way to do it right, and i know of one way that makes the belt do as you say yours is doin as we found out

cryer-evo 16-02-2013 06:20 PM

Lots of racers including me have had a look and none of us are new to this sport and I have raced and had a lot of belt drive cars never had this befor . Belt was put on the way the manual says to do it

MikePimlott 16-02-2013 07:16 PM

Sounds like you've put it on backwards, they're a reet bugger for that :woot:

cryer-evo 16-02-2013 08:09 PM

Haw could I of put it on backwords are they directional ??

Andrew Twigger 16-02-2013 08:45 PM

Sounds like the pulleys are out of alignment as said above. A picture would help.

Shouldn't be. Couldn't imagine that being the problem.

bigred5765 16-02-2013 09:02 PM

dwp102 16-02-2013 09:18 PM

too many ass holes on this site (or is that the world in general?)-nothing offensive was said, why cant you just tell him what you found that made the belt behave as he described?

bigred5765 16-02-2013 09:22 PM

offered help he said and i quote

ps im no ass hole

cryer-evo 16-02-2013 09:31 PM

If you no wot might be making the belt flip could you please let me now wot it is so I can check I have gone though the car several times to see if I have done something wrong but can't find nothing ps I didn't mean to offend you so if you no the answer please tell me

dwp102 16-02-2013 09:36 PM

share your knowledge and lets move on...thus disproving my theory that the world is made up of ass holes...we are all here to help each other not to brag about how much more we know than someone else. I am sure the recipient of your wisdom will thank you personally on here if your information proves to be useful.

bigred5765 16-02-2013 09:48 PM

not bragging
if you read my other post you'll see i was asking questions so i could see what was the best route to send him but OK here goes
OK first check the pulley fences are on the right way around
then check make sure both pulleys are aligned rite
the main reason they twist is pulling the belt over the pulley to get the belt on instead of taking a pulley of
also check make sure the belt have no fraid edges as snapped reinforcing material will make them twist also,

cryer-evo 16-02-2013 09:59 PM

thanks have just gone through the car again and everything looks good but i do remember when i put the belt on from new it did have some threds showing on the left hand side of the belt so in theory it would flip it to the right so i have found out wot was making it flip will do my best to put some pics up but i am not very good at doing things on the computer as i dont own one do almost every thing on my phone

dwp102 16-02-2013 10:03 PM

I am sure the original poster will thank you irrespective of whether or not the information provides useful, but I thank you for restoring my faith in humanity firstly :), and the rc community secondly :)

cryer-evo 16-02-2013 10:18 PM

Hard to tell from pic but are the pulley fences on properly as mentioned by bigred?

bigred5765 16-02-2013 10:59 PM

cant see anything overly obvious, pulley fenced are on right although the wires look a little close to were the belts run may be see if you can move em away Little more just encase, if you get a belt that is showing a few threads at the side be very carefully how you do it but i would use the edge of a small screwdriver and coat that edge with super glue very very lightly to seal it up,

N7ELA 17-02-2013 12:01 AM

It's the wires, there's even evidence marks where they are rubbing. Rewire your speedo and reroute the wires, job done.

levontraut 17-02-2013 06:58 AM

Guys.... Pls lets all stop being drama queens.

Even with the pics it is hard to see

The belts are not directional

Can you pls take a ruler and put it up against tje belt ans see if the thing is straight and look for slight twists

Then use the same ruler and see if the pullys alighn up...... If it is scew in any way your spacing is out or the pully is in the wrong place.

Can you do that and report back pls

mark christopher 17-02-2013 09:13 AM

looks like the belt has been rubbing on the yellow/orange wire to me

Spu83 17-02-2013 12:34 PM

Looks like you run the wires through the mid belt. Should try to run them under instead also was the mid belt tension right, may want to take out some shims so the bearing can push down the belt further.

rollingon4 17-02-2013 12:44 PM

Hi mate, hope you get this sorted, I know it was causing you a nightmare on Friday, hard to tell from the pics and without a belt on but it looks like the tensioning pulley is further outboard than the geared pulleys, have you tried sticking a ruler over the top of it to see if they all line up? Could be slipping off the side of the tensioner and flipping it?

cryer-evo 17-02-2013 06:05 PM
