Serious thread about the Yokomo B-MAX4
Here is Yokomos own product page (in Japanese) - http://www.teamyokomo.com/jpn/produc...x4/b_max4.html
Here are a couple of pics http://www.teamyokomo.com/jpn/produc.../b_max4_01.jpg http://www.teamyokomo.com/jpn/produc.../b_max4_03.jpg And here are the most interesting ones http://www.teamyokomo.com/jpn/produc.../b_max4_11.jpg http://www.teamyokomo.com/jpn/produc.../b_max4_08.jpg Not only have Yokomo made a plastic chassis and reused what looks like parts of the SD touring drivetrain, they have also made NEW suspension parts. If this was just a cheapy then they would have tried to keep as many BX parts on it as possible - but they haven't - expect a race-developed version of this car soon! Very interesting! If they can do them for £100 like the old MR-4BC was they would be great. If the price is closer to the £170 mark someone else has mentioned I think the car will die on its arse in the UK, a B44 is widely available for only £50 more and has full alloy and carbon. |
It certainly does look very capable and a little better spec than the Durga. If they price it competitively I think it could become popular.
It seems some thought has gone into the various bits on the car. Let's hope it holds up. |
Dodgy Babelfish translation of the Japanese text...

Bloody hell im falling a sleep ben i think i will need sleep early 2day :D |
Question will masami or any other top yokomo racer be racing this car
|
seeing it is a a budget car, and not their full race spec I highly doubt it, but you never know - crazier things have happened.
|
I guess we just have to wait another 1 or 2 yrs until yokomo release somthing better:( apart from the BX worlds
|
V-Mag, get your head down and get yourself some rest fella.

Good idea northy right im off to sleep see ya |
Personally, I like these cars. Tamiya Durga, Hotbodies new 'budget' car and now Yokomo. I think it is good for encouraging people to have a go at r/c without breaking the bank or buying second hand but more than that, it allows more experienced drivers to set about making these type of cars competitive. I would imagine it is hugely rewarding to do well with a car you have made race-worthy rather than just put together the latest and greatest kit.

It is doing well with a 5.5T novak system against the other modified saloons at the TRCC |
whenn all works well, the car comes in the august

I dont know to be honest LOL ! Carbon fibre looks nicer than plastic as im sure we could all agree. In a nutshell Dave is right  |
i like the new b-max car its pretty cool.. but if there are carbon bits on it i dont think it will handle as well since an all plastic car will generate more grip and is easier to drive.
|
well it seems plastic is the way to go, neils just won the 4wd euros with this car well done neil
|
Its good to see this car do soo well after its first few runs, but give that guy any car and he would be able to take a win or there abouts, sheer talent !
|
Do you know if the diff and gear are compatible with the AE stuff? I'm tired of breaking gears on my MiD44 (based on the B44), maybe those are stronger...:eh?:
|
If the gear is from the SD (as was mentioned by Jimmy in his report from the Euros), then no, not compatible with AE.
Perhaps you should redesign the MID44 for the BMAX - its the car to have for 2009 you know! |
I wonder when it is coming out? is it available abroad yet? I quite fancy one after Neil Cragg's result at the Euros, i know he is an awesome driver but the car must be pretty good!
|
There are only 2 cars at the moment, neil didnt even get to keep the car for the national.
I think it will be out in the next few months though, im sure it is mentioned in the interview with the yokomo boys. |
Yeah Neil should have his car in a month or so - I assume they must be almost there.
|
So are they planning to race this one only from that point?
If so I guess it'll kill the bx, doubt anyone would run the 501 if Tamiya team all used the cheaper Durga anyway! Hopefully good for the hobby though, assuming prices are reasonable! What type of tracks does the extra flex help on by the way, and on other tracks is the bx likely to have any advantage? |

I don't think there's a plan to replace the BX as such - they said they planned to continue refining the BX. Review - we'll see, we asked the Yoke boys so we'll have to wait and see

RC Champ are saying Yokomo are "Hoping" to release the car in August.
I still think it will kill sales of the BX (which I've just bought!), if its cheaper and the team guys are using it and winning with it! |
Of course...

release date of the new Bmax4 will be around midth of July assumed price is arount 24000 Yen, which is something like 145 Euros. But keep in mind that this will be the price in Japan. And yes, there will be a review on www.rc-car-setup.com soon, unfortunately only in German language. Maybe I'll release an English version later. Greets, Chris |
