Most of the things are quite obvious to me, but what is the reason for the rear hubs? Any theories?

good point
cant be to stop the clogging up issues as Durango have they're own alloy hubs.

may just be a test part, with an extra few degrees or something

Well, if it comes to toe setting TD has all the tools for all of the range that I think is useful. Clogging up, as you say, can't be it.

My personal theory is that these hubs allow the wheel axle to sit approx. 1mm further back, based on the amount of shims I think I see sitting in front of the hub, but it is hard to tell exactly from the photos.

Any takers?

Is the axle sitting closer to the hinge pin than the TD hubs?
I remember this being a performance mod for the XX year ago, hinge pin used to nearly pass between the rear hub bearings.

From memory, it stops the car swaying as much in quick direction changes on loose surfaces.... but I may be corrected on this.

How about the fact that he's using B4 driveshafts too ;)

He needs to get better at hiding other companies parts!!

OneKiwi 25-01-2013 12:49 PM

Thought he would do better than drawing on it with a sharpie marker!

Reo 25-01-2013 12:52 PM

And he use yokomo rod ends! :) He trust them more than Durangos?!? He was a yokomo team driver before.

steveproracing 25-01-2013 01:52 PM

Driveshaft/hub chance will def change the driveshaft plunge. Perhaps he is trying to gain a little extra grip due to a difference in driveshaft bind. The alloy suspension mounts are even more interesting. This is purely speculation but I wonder if they are the rdrp lrc mounts. If this is the case it brings roll centre (and the rest of the rear geometry) to being identical to a b4.1. Food for thought though!!

chet 25-01-2013 02:02 PM

I wonder how wide there rear is with those hubs?

The Alloy hangers are TD option parts which will soon be available.
The team have been testing them for a while to evaluate the performance gain...

luniemiester 25-01-2013 03:08 PM

Looks like the gearbox has two mounting positions for inner camber link also

any results you'd care to share? or is it a case of still in testing so nothing concrete?

also is the carbon rear tower he's using an official TD part? or is that after market/3rd party?

ROUMS 27-01-2013 08:16 AM

Does the yokomo ball cups fit the stock ball studs? They look like nice ballcups.

Thanks

Funny, that he use so much parts from orher companies.

CARB 31-01-2013 05:29 PM

Rear hubs

From the image the centre line of the hub looks lower than standard, so a lower roll centre could be the reason

I get the feeling TD are testing some different parts here to look at perhaps a second generation of the DEX210 possibly. I know TD won't admit to this, but in respect of them improving on an already amazing car would show how commited they are to keep on winning. That to me in my eyes is a good thing.

There are times when drivers will use other parts to gain some time lap by lap, and as much as we can see a few parts that might not bt TD, the majority of the car is. In fact see one Mr Hara who is running a 410V3....not the old D4, which proves something really (either the D4 sucks, or he simply feels the V3 was a better drive).
