who won first round of practise? :woot:

showtime 01-07-2008 06:22 PM

i don't think they'll need to worry about the track surface as during the warmup it looked like it was going to blow out really badly because on the first day a few holes appeared but they never really got any worse over the rest of the meeting ;)
most people stayed on as the track remained open after the meeting with the monday & tuesday VERY busy with drivers testing all kinds of things before the main event.
eg Hupo testing the LRP car with a regular rear end on it instead of the semi trailing arm suspension. a spy pic of mine was posted on Neo-buggy just after we got back ;)
one thing that did happen towards the end of the open practice days was the concrete face broke up on the first big jump right in front of the rostrum which wasn't ideal :eh?:
alot of people were also worried about chassis wear with a few concrete features but it wasn't a problem, the cars probably look worse after a day at Clanfield LOL
with that many good drivers going round it wont take long for a clean line to appear which will eventually blue groove & once the grip goes up so will tyre wear!
after winning the hour long main at the warmup Savoyas tyres were actualy bald (XTR Bowties) but he was still getting enough drive to clear the triple :o
the track drives better than it looks in the pics & is really fast & fun
just wish i was back out there :(

redRC has some updates from Day1

jordi15 02-07-2008 07:30 AM

Doesnt look good .... if the track is a concern after one practice session each just imagine what its gonna be like come thurs/fri!!!

I know the track surface was fairly good at the warm up but it has had another 3 or 4 weeks of 'baking' since then so who knows ........

Darren Bloomfield Tops the time sheets after round 2.

showtime 02-07-2008 06:10 PM

had a call from Flanders today & he said the grip levels have come right up now & the tracks a pleasure to drive

apparently one of the logs came loose & had to be removed but apart from that its holding up pretty good :)

they have all been reseeded now after timed practice so from now on its for real!

good luck to all the UK guys out there:thumbsup:

Anyone else see that Bloomers had a very fast run in the last round of qualifying only to loose it cos he went for a swim and didnt reaslise they shifted the heats around.

He was quoated saying something like "now im mad im gonna go even faster in the next heat"

Good lad, lets hope he pulls a winner out the bag, and that things sort for the whole of the finals.

Good luck bud

Robert Batlle missed his marshalling stint too in R5 after Tq'ing something perhaps not made clear at drivers briefing:bored:

Best of luck to the Brits in the A, looking at the times they are all capable of winning.. What happened to slop? he's been superfast recently:confused:

just had a phonecall rom the pits

apparently Craggys car cut on the parade lap & as such had to start from the pit lane :eh?:

then after running pretty strongly the reciever pack died sometime around the 50 minute mark :(

Savoya was awesome around there at the warmup meeting & he's proved that he can come back & do it for real! i wonder if he can do the same after winning the Worlds warmup in Charlotte back in October?
he could be Europes top hope for a winner :)
