PAIRS Trophy Meeting on 24 February 2013

TROPHY MEETING

As there is no netball on Sunday 24 February 2013 I have been able to book the hall for a longer period of time and we will run a different format to a normal club meeting.

We are going to run a 'Pairs' meeting - 2 drivers will score points each time they race and these will be accumulated for overall scores.

I have booked the hall from 10 am so the track can be built, then have open practice before starting the heats. We will be pitting downstairs as per usual.

It is essential that we have a pre-booking system as I will need to plan the heats according to the entries received:

Format available:

2wd (both drivers)
4wd (both drivers)
2wd/4wd (one driver for each class)
U13 (both drivers) - will need to state whether 2wd and/or 4wd.
Adult + U13 (will need to state whether 2wd and/or 4wd)

Fee £7 per adult; £4 per U13

Anyone who would like to join in the meeting but does not have a partner please let me know as there could be others who are also looking for someone to partner them.

You can enter by Paypal at [email protected] or enter at a club meeting.

Please book early to secure a place in the class that you both wish to run as places will become limited depending on the entries received for each class.

A couple of drivers have suggested the possibility of a random draw for partners - what are your thoughts on this?

I think that's for the best Dianne.

Sounds a fun meeting. Might be best to pair a "good" driver with a "less skilled" driver to make it interesting for all. Rather than having the good drivers pairing up and the bad ones have no chance ;-)

Thanks for your thoughts!

'bad ones' Neal? Do you want to name them? I think some would prefer 'less experienced'.

I tend to agree that it could be good fun to draw the names but I thought that not everyone may agree and may prefer to partner a friend which could put drivers off booking in, which is why I have posed the question.

If it was done on a draw basis then would we need to have an 'ability draw' to avoid good drivers racing together as if it was an open draw we could get all the good drivers together and the less experienced together.

I did also think that some of the parents may want to pair up with their child or maybe the youngsters could also go into pairs. Lots of different options available - just need to get it right so that it is a good event.

We will not only be giving trophies to the winners, we will also give them to others too so does it matter if everyone chooses who they want to race with?

More opinions would be great to get the views of more of the drivers who would attend the meeting. I will also try to get some feedback at the club meeting on Sunday.

I'd happily race with Jack as my partner, as I'm sure most of the other dads would too.

Maybe add a father and son section to the event?

Bells 23-01-2013 06:58 PM

That would be a great day of racing , I would race with James no prob but I like the idea of slowest driver teamed up with the fastest driver , ie start top and bottom of drivers and pair up working towards the middle , just a thought

Bells 23-01-2013 07:08 PM

Another thought what about teaming people up with the same make of car ?

I would be up for this :thumbsup:would be cool to race with young Vaughn
A father and son/daughter heat would be cool we have never raced at batley either:D

NeilRalph77 23-01-2013 07:21 PM

Maybe the top drivers should put themselves up for partnering raffle style for those of a lower level or unpaired.

AndyG 23-01-2013 09:56 PM

I need to win another trophy.... my lad keeps all his coins in the last one I won (RHR Dirty Weekend C Final I'll have you know), and it's full now.

So race format .... "Dads & Lads" + "Heros & Zeros" ?

Great atmosphere at Batley and many youngsters attending with parents so dads/sons or daughters could be a good heat - I am sure you would enjoy it and be back for more!

We might even have some youngsters that could be on loan for the day as some dads have more than one!

tommygun 24-01-2013 03:08 PM

I'm picky.... and I'm not sure I can think of anyone that's as quick as me ;)

2xme = trophy in the bag :)

coleman758 28-01-2013 11:02 AM

The new oOple server needs to be much bigger to accomodate Andys head!

:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

On a serious note, This sounds ace I did one at West Bridgeford last year, That was a really good days racing.

neallewis 28-01-2013 03:59 PM

Dianne, did you decide how the pairs can be formed? Do you just pair yourself up with a mate, if you are not a parent/child partnership?
or will you draw singles out of hats on the day?

samd 28-01-2013 04:20 PM

Andy should be made to race with his caravan to slow him down cos he's soooooooooo fast:D

nivek 28-01-2013 04:39 PM

I would like to enter , providing i can have a 3 mins and 4 laps start PLEASE.....:)

andys 28-01-2013 04:45 PM

On a serious note.
Pairing up drivers running a Schumacer with drivers running a decent car my be a fairer way to go? These poor souls need all the help they can get :)

Oscar 28-01-2013 06:51 PM

Personally I think Parent/Child class is a good option, but the other classes the pairs should be drawn from a hat.

There is too much planning for a draw to be done on the day and I need to make sure that we have the correct number of drivers within each class.

Also, I do not want to discourage anyone that wants to enter as a pair so you can enter as a pair or can enter as a single driver and be paired up. We could do a draw on 10th February if everyone has entered before this date.

Did everyone enter as a pair or were you paired up randomly?
