D2 seen @ HRH Shootout
Hod Bodies new two wheel drive electric buggy - the D2 - has finally been seen in public this past week over in the USA. The car was raced last weekend in preparation for this weekends Hot Rod Hobbies Shootout - 27-29th June.
Team drivers Travis Amezcua and Jesse Robbers, along with Adam Skelding from England who actually designed the car for Hot Bodies - will all be racing the car at the shootout. Adams car is the one shown in the photos - kindly sent over from the event! The refinements and details are still to come, but Hot Bodies haven't been sitting still since the prototype first appeared earlier this year. The car still uses the alloy main chassis and moulded side 'pods' - but the 2-piece towers are replaced with more conventional 1-piece designs. The most striking thing without looking under the body, is the body shell itself, which has never been seen in public before. This is clearly designed to match its 4WD sibling, the D4. Thanks to Adam for sending the photos. Adams paint is by Tels Shells. |

Looks like I need to start saving more money.
|
I must say that the body looks great, nice to see a fresh shape in the market.
Reminds me a little of this actually - which I always thought was a SEXY car... http://www.tamiyaclub.com/getuserima...2606_1_350.jpg |
i dont see the resemblance myself!!!
looks cool tho! |
nice shell guessing that tel sprayed it as its in adams colours look sweet makes me wish id still got my d4 now
|
does it take B4 wheels?
|
Am I going to be the first to say I don't like the look of the shell?
I reckon it looks odd. But then I don't like the D4 shell either :) Good work on the car though  |
The D4 can use b4/xxx rears, so I would not be surprised if it could too.
|
i don t like it too ;P but it s ok and the car itself is very cool
|
Guys we should'nt critisize this car to much the least we can say is thank you. To the guys at hotbodies for designing this lovely car after all it's not the shell what matter's it's the inside what does. And to be honest i think it's awsome
|
vinny, no-body has criticised the car itself.. if at all it has only been the shell.

That's ok i got a bit worried then the shell is not that bad |
Do remember the quality of the pics too, don't do it justice.
Some better pics of the shells below. Personally I like it as it's not like the rest of the buggies styles. http://www.telsshells.com/adz%201.jpg http://www.telsshells.com/adz%202.jpg Probably get severly rollocked for putting them up, but seeing as Jimmy put Adams pics up then I can't see it hurting too much. |
Absoluty cracking work Tell
|
love the shape of the shell, look sweet along side a D4
|
I love the red effect on that, think I remember saying the same about Adams D4 shell actually :p Looks amazing Tel, good work.
|
amazing work tel, as always! :D
|
I know those are the sponsors, but it's a shame to spoil such a nice paintjob with those uggly decals all over it. Luckily I 'm not sponsored and can keep it as clean as I like :eh?: :D
|
Thanks for the big ups.:D But I was only really putting it on for you to see the shape of the shell.:eh?::p:woot:
Cheers doods. |
News from the shootout. (Now I have fired the laptop back up and got it to work)
Travis finished 4th in 2wd with the D2, so an excellent result for the car on it's first official outing. Jesse Robbers ended up 21st after some rough luck in qualifying. Myself, well I improved on last years performance finishing 24th also with the D2. We still have some prototype stuff on the car, but by the end of july, it should all be pretty much sorted. We've now put some serious miles on all three cars after being at the shootout from Tuesday to Sunday. Little bugs have been found and are being sorted out before I come home. Safe to say my B4 is now officially retired and the D2 will be run at the Batley Regional and remaining rounds of the National Series I will be attending. I'll get some more pics uploaded later. |
nice one Adam, can't wait for race pics!!

Congrats on making a dialed car. later Jeremy |
nice one adam, a great job well done,
|
How would you rate the steering capabilities of the car? It seems to be a little problem to get the RB-5 and the Losi dialed, what about the lovely HB? ...can't await to unwrap my birthday present when I return from sunny AFG in late October...

http://jbphotography.smugmug.com/At%...20Races/550018 They're by a guy called Jason Boulanger, he's the USA version of Jimmy and has bigger lenses!!! The underbody shots of the D2 are in the Mains folder. Still some prototype parts on it for all you anoraks, but it's pretty much finalised. |
