sorry double post

gixxer 12-01-2013 11:57 PM

Also I will need measurements/drawings or one to copy

gixxer 13-01-2013 09:15 PM

I currently have interest in the following pistons.

Kyosho small bore
Kyosho big bore
Hobao h2

Keep em coming :)

DragonRider 13-01-2013 09:38 PM

Please add Schumacher SV2 Big Bore

Cheers

Mark

gixxer 13-01-2013 09:44 PM

Yeah I can do them for th K1 I'll pm you my addy if you want to send it to me, here is the first RB6 run that are going to be tested
Also I have done some for a h2 with revised sizes once they are tested for fit I'll report back

WOW, can you make them from P.T.F.E?

gixxer 14-01-2013 02:54 PM

I can't remember what this stuff is called but its very similar to the stuff on non stick pans the only ptfe I can get hold of is very soft and hard to hold a tight limit on and is also sensitive to moisture

NeilRalph77 14-01-2013 04:40 PM

You should do some for the Rango big bore's cos they don't.

gixxer 14-01-2013 07:40 PM

I'll make them for any car all I need is measurements or one to copy

+1 what dimensions do you need? ID, OD and thickness? the Durango Pistons (big bore and small bore) have a counter bore in the centre, would this cost extra? I'd probably look at getting 20 ish of each...... 5 or 6 sets (how much to post to Sweden?)

I need the od hole and c/bore dia c/bore depth thickness
The price will be the same with a c bore as for postage I don't have a clue mate

NeilRalph77 16-01-2013 06:50 PM

Rango bigbores:-

12.3mm O/D
2.5mm Thick
2mm Through hole
C/Bore 2.6mm Dia x 1.6mm Deep

hmmmm, doesnt sound right, that counterbore is mighty deep!
only got .9 of a mm of material left!

OneKiwi 17-01-2013 06:41 AM

Isn't the counterbore just the thickness of the spacer you place on the shaft?

NeilRalph77 17-01-2013 07:54 AM

Feel free to double check by all mean's but if you place the washer on the shaft and then measure it from the end to the washer face its 1.6 likewise if you measure the drop on the piston overall its 2.10 but theres the slight ring on the face which measures 0.5 again making the C/bore depth 1.6, I won't be offended if i'm proven wrong, it would obviously be better if someone double check's before production start's, measure twice cut once and all that jazz

mattr 17-01-2013 08:38 AM

Ah, so you actually mean that the counterbore is 0,9, i.e. the thickness (2,5), minus the exposed length of shaft (1,6).
I'll get the verniers on one tonight and get a double check done!

(and yeah, i think it is just the washer thickness and dia that makes up the counterbore. I'll have a look and see what the easiest way to do it is.)

Gixxer, is it possible to make a few up and get them to someone local to make sure fit is ok, rather than making me a load and shipping them over? (and finding they don't fit!!)

Maybe i should just buy my own lathe..... ;o)

Supercoolnothing 17-01-2013 09:23 AM

Yeah, I'm definitely interested in a set of H2 tapered pistons

What??? You were actually right the first time only 0.9 material left between the piston face and the C/Bore.

sorry, but no idea what you've been measuring, I've got 2,1mm left after the counter bore!

anyway, durango big bore
12.25 outer diameter
2.5 thickness
2.5 inner diameter
0.4 counter bore depth (the raised ring isn't needed)
just got to get the washer diameter for the counter bore size. And they are all inside me shocks.....
got a mate going to try and get another set of verniers on one.

NeilRalph77 17-01-2013 07:53 PM

Fine balls it up!!! what your classing as 2.5 dia i measured at 2.6 (both the piston and the step on the shaft) but it's not a through hole it's to a depth hense a counter bore! The through hole is 2mm I'm not on about nore ever have been on about the pointless raised ring! Jesus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

calm down!
anyway, found the end stop/step you are talking about. not all my Pistons appear to have it. the ones in the car do. the two I measured don't.
And fwiw, it doesn't appear to be needed anyway, the washer and step on the shaft prevent movement in that direction. machining it will be a pain too!

gixxer 17-01-2013 09:04 PM

Dood's the easiest way to sort this is if sumone can post one to me to copy exactly then they will fit :)

Adam F 17-01-2013 10:10 PM

Could be interested in some pistons for a procat.... shall I just send you one over?

Ta

Adam

gixxer 18-01-2013 05:10 AM

That's the easiest thing to do mate

s22jgs 18-01-2013 07:56 AM

Omg it's like a playground at a girls school lol.

Revised size H2 pistons are a very good fit. These seem pretty damn good

hampti 18-01-2013 07:57 AM

Hello mate. I would need 4 sets for the durango big bores. How much would is it included shipping to austria and do you accept paypal?
Kind regards

Yeh sorry lost it for a while . I've PM'd gixxer for his address I'll send him a kit original for him to copy and price.

gixxer 18-01-2013 08:55 AM

Blanks for any car are a quid each, I'll be doing more h2 pistons today as they have been tested for fit and are good :)

Just wondering what people's thoughts on aluminum pistons?
Mainly because its easier to hold a tight limit on and the cost would be no more than plastic

No worries, just wonder why i have 2 (and apparently only 2) without that end stop. I've got (total) about 20 pistons, mostly standard size, and ALL appear to have it, except 2. Which i'm pretty sure i haven't used. Ah well.
Thanks for sending one on to Gixxer, saves me sorting from this side of the North sea!

And yeah I accept PayPal :)

Oh and if you are sending me a piston to copy please add a note with how many you want and your user name off here just so I make sure everyone gets the right ones

mattr 18-01-2013 12:28 PM

Will you be keeping tabs on all the dimensions? So i can just order some of the Durango BBs once you've made the first batch.......

bigt 18-01-2013 03:19 PM

set of 16mm associated on its way john need the od at 16mm though not as the pattern ones please
