Croston closing
 

Now that croston indoors has closed I wonder if we could purchase their carpet or more importantly purchase their ramps? as they're the best indoor ramps I've raced on. Just an idea if our committee could get hold of mark smith and see if now they're racing on dirt with dirt jumps. Whether or not they would be willing to part with them?

Nice idea Gav but storage may be an issue provided he's willing to part with them at all.

Additionally I feel we have enough carpet, it just has to be layed with thought leaving slippy sections. I think the mix of grip and slip we have at the moment is good.

Well to be honest it's more the ramps that we should be interested in, they're really smooth and well built. And also don't take up a huge amount of space. Surely worth an enquiry? They could even be used at bury outdoor

mark was told on sunday £150 and all the ramps are ours which i think is a bargin as we would have a smaller tabletop for indoors and maybe outdoors and i have raced there once and those smaller ones are also good fun

must say when i travelled up there to race after speaking to you matt i was very impressed with the set up he had and think the ramps are very good value for money and would make our setup alot better

For £150 worth of materials we could make some pretty decent ramps ourselves.......

We don't physically need the ramps, just to copy the key points. £150 buys a lot of wood!

£150 is not a lot in this day and age and from what were always told there is money in the kitty to do it. All our indoor venue needs is jumps of this kind and it will be a fantastic venue that I'm sure will attract more drivers so the jumps should pay for themselves in no time.

Si, I'm sure we could get a hell of a lot of wood for that money but then you have to build them and test them which takes time to get them right. Rog's tabletop is a good example, it's very well made but as a feature doesn't work all that well as the ramps are too severe. By building our own we risk spending more money as they not turn out as planned where here we can just buy ready made features that we know work....they have to be worth the investment?

Bring a saw.
 

We have about 8 jumps that fold up. Why don't you use them?
If you think they're too severe take a saw to them and cut a couple of inches off. That's how I made them, adjustable.

Better still, buy new wood and pay me to build them. £60 an hour. should take about a week.

They are really good ramps and lightweight. As for roger's table top I've changed my opinion on that it just needs the adjustments that are planned to be made for this season such as putting in another section on the flat section to lengthen it and put some astro over it so its not slippy when wet and it will be bang on.
Hope we get these ramps though as they could even be used in summer too

We use them Roger, they're great, although I've only seen six? Four are used just for the tabletop.

£150 doesnt buy you hardly any wood these days and they are light and already built and think they good to add to whjat we already have

Steve is right roger, we use four ramps for the table top we make (which takes ages to build with benches and it takes a battering and we have to maintain it throughout the day)

Well not personally but I have a father in law who is a joiner, has a trade account at a timber place and can source some materials free of charge for 'recycling'. So in theory yes, and yes.

Except he knows nothing about RC ramps so he can only build what we ask him to. Given a suitable set of dimensions he could certainly make some ramps - so has someone got the details of the 'perfect ramp'?

the croston rollers are really well built and easy to move around plus the kids can just roll over them rather than having to jump them safer;)

I'll take £100 for the lot if that is an offer. I just want to get rid of them now. The storage framework is ace too. I'll throw that in for an extra £30. I need the garage space now so otherwise the whole lot is firewood in one week...let me know ASAP. Thanks..

Mark, as I have said pal, we are going to do an inventory of what ramps/jumps we have this coming Sunday and from there we will have a better idea on what we need, don't need.

Gavin, hope to finally meet you personally on Sunday, where I'm sure you will put your views across.

If we are sending Johnny to collect jumps can we have some dimensions and pictures first? Only I expect by the time they arrive they'll have grown 6 feet higher and have built in flamethrowers......

This would be fantastic for the indoor meetings, but yes I agree si, if Johnny is picking them up they'll have naked girls attached and flamethrowers

All the jumps are in Charnock Richard. Seconds away from the m6 service station between j27 & j28

That's only 15 mins away from me as I'm only in DARWEN and my dad lives near goshen aswell.

I'll have a word with him and let you know if you still need a van?

I have secured a deal to purchase the ramps and trolley from Mark at Croston.

We now need a volunteer to collect them for us. I believe a large van would be required.

Its my dad who has the van, still not spoke to him yet sorry

I'll ring him tomorrow, I think he's got a long wheelbase van so that should be big enough, he's only just started this job so I'm unsure if he can use the van but as ill said ill ask of course, are these ramps near charnock Richard services?
