Do you have to drive or can you just come for the mince pies?

DanW 16-12-2012 07:58 AM

The wearing of Christmas Jumpers and or Hats is preffered but not mandatory.

Bring your own Turkey Sandwiches...

...and of course come and test out any new toys that Father Christmas may have left under the tree for you.

Lee1972 16-12-2012 09:33 AM

Do you have to pre book?

danDanEFC 16-12-2012 03:59 PM

No need to prebook, but if you haven't raced at Southport before sending your details to Eric will help the booking in move along quicker.

This is going to be an awesome meeting. Lot’s of fun and also a massive bonus, we can leave the track out ready for the next Turf Wars on the 6th Jan = more time dedicated to racing on both dates.

We just managed to squeeze in 5 rounds and a final today. 48 racers and all gear stowed away by 17:00. All down to super tight race control and necessary help in building the track by the dedicated club members.

Do you have handout transponders? This will be my first race so I want to prepare for it.

Yes we do have handouts but it is recommended you get a PT asap as the handouts will be discontinued in the new year.

danDanEFC 29-12-2012 12:16 PM

Also a once in a lifetime appearance of a toy car actually built by me.

I may run a book on how long it will last.

Si Coe 29-12-2012 12:33 PM

Did you use nails instead of screws?

I think quite a few of the Bury crew are planning on coming so make sure you are well stocked for those mince pies.....

cherryc 29-12-2012 06:57 PM

We have a tuck shop with drinks and confectionery.

There is spar and Tesco express shops nearby. If you're coming from the Preston direction then you pass through Southport where you can pickup subway, McDonalds etc. Coming from the Liverpool direction you pass a spar/subway petrol station at the North end of Formby.

TonyM 30-12-2012 12:49 AM

We also have Kimshi pot noodles the very best at only £1.20. Hot water is free.:)

bigred5765 30-12-2012 12:53 AM

buggy#0 30-12-2012 09:20 AM

Many thanks to all who raced at our post-christmas 'Mince Pie' special today, a very good days racing indeed.

6 minute heats/finals and 5 rounds of qualifying meant lots of track time for all.

Track layout was great, flowing but not too fast. The triple jump section worked really well. Thanks to Craig and team for a 'good job'.

There was lots of very close racing, all day, across all heats and finals and some good displays of sportsmanship.

2WD A final was incredibly close, nothing more than a hairs breadth seperating Jamie Banks and Ashley Fensom for most of the six minutes with Anthony Steele also on pace and challenging the leaders.

As stated many thanks to all really enjoyed the close and clean racing. Think it was nip and tuck between me and ash with my car being better but his driving is exceptional consistant and quick. Was glad to win in the end and look forward to next week.

Many thanks

J

Very good days racing. Didnt realise it was fastest time not best 3 of 5 rounds until someone told me in the final haha.
B final was chaos for first few laps, standard of driving was very good today, very hard to catch up and pass once behind.

cherryc 30-12-2012 09:03 PM

Like to thanx to srcc for a great days racing .. Close hears and even closer finals.
Loved the 6min hears and 5rounds ..
Hope to get back down from the north agen soon

cherryc 30-12-2012 09:03 PM

Heats even dam phone lol

danDanEFC 30-12-2012 09:46 PM

Well I had a great day with my newly built car.

All my problems where down to a dodgy lipo. Once we sorted that out it was plain sailing to qualifying B7 and then taking the win :-).

Thanks for the racing people.

Thanks for the racing people.

A dodgy lipo caused your steering link to fall apart and you to have to wander round every Durango owner at the event looking for a top hat washer?

Thats a first!

danDanEFC 30-12-2012 11:24 PM

Oh and the steering failing apart I forgot about that

funkygrump81 31-12-2012 09:07 AM

Had a wicked day even though i did only finish one heat but 6 min heats and finals and five rounds thats what its all about thanks for a great day guys

DanW 31-12-2012 10:54 AM

Results have been posted on the club website.

These A-final times show how close the racing was, both the average and best lap times of the top 3 drivers seperated by just 0.04 and less than 1 second between the top 3 finishing times.

That really was a cracking days racing. First time for me with my 4WD indoors this season- it's now dialled in, pity about the driver. 6 minute heats are definitely the way to go.
