Xray Cars Gallery

Starting of with my own. First is my T4 and the other is my 12th scale that I never ran at all with the original chassis. Milled my own because I hate strapping the batteries down with tape. An sort of inline idea with servo infront.

On Friday my XB4 will be up here as well:thumbsup:

That does look good! Would be interested to hear how it compares to a zx5.

jamiekerr14 15-12-2012 06:15 PM

My latest build and what a build... best buggy every built... Also decided to add some nice shiney red counter sunk washers to give it a bit more colour :D

Cheers mate. It's a great car. Can't wait to give it a run. Hope it's as good as my 410! Lol

sime46 15-12-2012 09:51 PM

Looking good atsang. Loving the blingy bits. Any of you boys run one yet? Mine will be out Wednesday if my shell is back in time. Fingers crossed.

jamiekerr14 16-12-2012 12:33 AM

Tomorrow morning is its 1st outing.. so fingers crossed it goes well, and that there are no issues!

Pritty confident in it though.. so should be good to see how it goes, as long as the weather is half decent!!

sime46 16-12-2012 08:45 AM

Nice one let me know how it went. The suspense is killing me. Lol

sime46 16-12-2012 11:59 AM

Just got back from a morning racing at TORCH!
http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/f...ps96129e6e.jpg

Anyone have an issue with shock cap weeping some oil? noticed on mine a bit of oil, looks like has leaked from shock cap?

(Warning a long write up coming lol)

Started Q1 with a 1st place, on a damp track. Q2-Q3-Q4 were all 2nds and Q5 a 1st. Final was a close battle for 1st changing positions every other lap. But an error by me, cost me 1st place.

Well, the car so far is fantastic to drive for me it felt solid and I was not worried about the durability aspect. Handles a dream even on the box Carpet setup, grips like no tomorrow and generates more traction than even the FS2 does IMHO.

It has enough steering to make 99.99% of drivers turn down there EPA! It reacts well to setup changes and on a damp astro track it is on rails. I would say its a bit of a mix between a DEX410 and a ZX5 FS2. It has the slight aggressive punch/nature of the DEX, but yet still feels very smooth to drive-like the ZX5. I would say its a middle ground between both of those cars. Which is no bad thing in the slightest! Its super quite and very free running for a geared car. Jumps a dream and will be interesting to see what its like in the dry!

Got a few comments on how good it looked on track and let a friend drive it. Who currently runs a FS2. Lets just say-He sounded very very tempted ;)

All in all, I'm super happy about its 1st run. Already back on pace after a few months off racing and a brand new car. With a stock setup.. Verdict- GET ONE!!!!:D

sime46 16-12-2012 03:49 PM

Great news. Thanks Jamie. Exactly what I wanted to hear.

Love the way you have censored the logo on the side

sime46 16-12-2012 05:11 PM

Cheers Robbie. Tbh I didn't want the Xray to realise what the shell was designed for in case it made it brittle and prone to wearing out.

jamiekerr14 18-12-2012 10:24 AM

Bit of a long shot I know, but does anyone have a spare front bulkhead I can buy off them? Seem to have cracked mine slightly. Think it happens just before the start of my final. I was going all guns blazing and hit the pipe, on a rigid section. It was that or playing with the 2wd trucks after racing- dirty racers haha - seems ok.. But would like to replace it if possible, checked few shops and non have stock? Cheers gents!

sime46 18-12-2012 05:52 PM

Sorry dude. Only did our spares order yesterday and not sure exactly what's coming. Some bits are on back order.

jamiekerr14 18-12-2012 05:54 PM

Yeah typically rear is in stock.. but no fronts Which is a bummer. It seems ok-But think 1 hard shunt and it could finally fail. Not the end of the world...

Let me know if you do get any cheers buddy

sime46 18-12-2012 05:59 PM

Deffo mate. We've ordered them so fingers crossed. I'm told the next batch isn't far away so no need to panic yet? Lol

jamiekerr14 18-12-2012 06:09 PM

haha yeah fingers crossed! Yeah Greg said there is a big batch coming after the NY. So not too long to wait worse case!
More time to eat and drink me thinks

rcpower 18-12-2012 06:23 PM

Mine with the kit shell. I hated the shape but its growing on me now.

JustARcFan 18-12-2012 10:14 PM

How does the fs2 shell fit?

sime46 18-12-2012 10:27 PM

It's not miles off. Closest I've found was the SX3 tbh. The chassis is wider at the front so makes other shells tricky to fit it a way good enough to run.

Pedros20 19-12-2012 06:53 AM

Looks cool that mate.
Must admit the shell is growing on me now, like the RB6 has.
Stickers look good too.

Look just like 3mm countersunk. Get them on eBay mate. That's where I got nine.

Dave

j0pp3 19-12-2012 10:29 PM

Here is an example search on counter sink washers at AmainHobbies:
http://www.amainhobbies.com/advanced...ersink&x=0&y=0

An alternative is if you want to use cap head screws you might be looking for these kind of washers:
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...-Washer-Blue-6

Just examples. Ebay is probably a better source.

Cheers

atsang 19-12-2012 11:46 PM

@jimi126

these washers are the JQ counter sunk washers. the reason i used these are because they include M4 washers which are needed ho hold down the power wires from the speedo and attach them to the chassis...

Think the car needs a bit more colour but bar that the car is fantastic!!!

Had the car out for the first time today and i was absolutely gob smacked!!! I am comparing it to the durango 410 and the xb4 has soo much more steering in comparison. When running the 410 i down use any D/R on my remote and instantly on semi worn mini spikes on astro i had to reduce the steering to 55% on my remote.

The car itself is very smooth and works very well when pushing hard and the car was really settled i believe this was due to the body but i wouldnt have a lot of knowledge in this area.

I had the car set up with the clay set up thats included in the kit and the chassis was set up to be stiff. At the beginning i had a few real nasty knocks and i have to say the plastics and build quality of the car is second to none and along with the build i would highly recommend this car to anyone!!!

Ended up TQ-ing and winning the 4wd tonight but due to small numbers i can only wait til the new year to really see the full potential the car has especially on polished wood.

sime46 20-12-2012 08:20 AM

Ran mine too last night on worn carpet with loads of jumps/obstacles. Track flowed really well. The car was very very good. Mine was set to the carpet setup other than thinner diff oils. As said before, steering is very good. It was very stable and easy to push hard. It was a touch tail happy but clearly a setup change would've tamed in right down. Lots of hairpins in the track so I left it alone as it rotated brilliantly. It is tough as an altercation with a wayward SC truck proved! Overall I'd say this is a great car with bags of potential. I also played with the slipper all night and can safely say the diff gears are more than good enough for the job. Braking hard over bumps would have the rears dancing in the air. If you're on the fence about this car, go and get one. You won't be disappointed.

Balders 20-12-2012 09:02 AM

Did i read somewhere that ball diffs would be an option or was that a pipe dream?
:)

sime46 20-12-2012 11:01 AM

They are an option mate.

Picked mine up tonight from MB Models...
I'm allowed to paint the body before xmas ;-)
Had a look in the box, perfectly packaged and looks such a quality kit.

I agree i had my slipper set quite slack... just to make sure i didn't wreck a diff on the first outting and there is certainly no problem with composite gear... on the plus side graphite composite gears as they wear they will naturally become more free due to graphite being a lubricant... smart design from xray...
