K1 Build Pics.....

10 Attachment(s)
Just a few of the pics from the build of the new K1 i got today.

Just the shocks and a few more little bits to go, then new electrics as well.

It is nearly Christmas, Had to treat myself as no other bugger will lol.....

Have to say. Great quality as always and happy they are finally giving proper pots of moly/diff greece instead of the silly little bags.

HUGE spurgear to, Looks like there is alot more room than the sx3 for my electric install.

Body off to Gainsy Graphics today for my nice new colours to be added and then its ready for some track abuse.

Love the all blackness of the K1..... Hopefully, the "hopups" will be produced in black instead of the usual purple? looks like its all purple thou at the moment, ho hum........

Fallen in love with the car already. goes well with the SV2/SX3/Supastox/Bosscats i have already. She fits in very nicely.... hehe.

K1

Nice job looking forward to seeing it go round the track.

It will be good to get your feedback from a driver of the sx3 to see how it compares.

few pics of the final stages and the finished K1, just needs electrics and the shell......

will be run next week and will see what its like compared to my sx3. cant wait.

tried the SX3 shell, does fit, tight and holes a few mil out, but could be used if needed i guess. I will wait for the proper K1 shell to be finished and returned next week. same colours. Love the new colours.

I have to say i am very impressed with the layout of the K1, simple compared to its earlier sister, and easier access to everything, diffs, servo, etc.... Much better.....

Track test will be the proof in the pudding.;)

electrics in

2 Attachment(s)
She is alive. electrics in, not as much room as I 1st thought but its all in there.

Fitted the SX3 F/cab bulldog shell as a temp measure, till the proper shell comes back from being painted.
It fits sort of. A little adjustment to the rear hole and the front stick out a bit at the sides, but will do for one meeting....

I read the new ackerman system for the steering is fitted, seems to make the front wheels go out slightly at full compression?
Is this normal, the sx3 does not change angle at all.
or have i fitted something wrong? hmmmmmm........

also, seems a little noisy(might be my imagination), maybe just needs bedding in/adjustments. not built a new kit in ages, but this was a joy to build....

Looking forward to some track action tommorow evening at SHRCCC.. gona be a little chilli....... lol

Undertray

Fits the SX3 undertray on the K1 ? :)

dMITIj 13-12-2012 07:51 AM

Nice looking build :wub

you can put some tape ore somthing under the battery so it wont scratch the chassi when driven and/ore put the batteries in/out of the car.

Best Regards.

i worked out my steering issue while building(ok was in the garage, late, cold, not paying attention) i put the yokes on the wrong sides. oops....

all sorted now. perfect.....

Tape..... You could put tape etc under the lipos if needed, i had to put a little tape under the lipo straps as like many lipos, there slightly smaller that the gap, so had to pad it out. only a few ml thou..

Running the car tonight at SHRCCC, cold and damp, and may even rain a little, but she HAS to be tested!!!!!

The sx3 shell and undertray are not an exact fit and the style of the front and rear bumpers would not allow them to fit like the sx3. It looks like it will have a great dirt and water seal thou, with the K1 shell. so undertray wont be needed. The sidepics are lovelly.

If your worried about acratching the sexy chassis, then a chassis sticker would do the job, but there buggies, not shelf queens, so i will be racing mine and not worrying about the scratches underneath, its expected.

Hi,
Having just bought one,any tips or tricks on the build?......will be interesting to see how it comperes to the new xray.....

One more thing..would it be possible to use hexs on the rear?

dMITIj 13-12-2012 09:04 PM

The xray is tempting but i don't like all the plastic parts in the gear diff ect. maby it's just me :eh?:

but I have not quite decided yet what to get but i think ill end up with the K1

DeMogoobra 13-12-2012 09:30 PM

I was standing at my LHS to pick up a XB4...then the post arrived from Schumacher. First K1 in Sweden found its new owner:)
Already very happy with the switch.

mark christopher 13-12-2012 10:15 PM

Xray/disco have released a statement advising not to over tighten the slipper or damage to the diffs may occur

All straight forward no tricks involved just follow the manual=perfect. If you have to use hexs on the rear it can be done, have seen it.

TARTMAN 13-12-2012 11:17 PM

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

Ran the car this evening at SHRCCC, cold, and wet. Car was truly awsome.

From kit, handled perfectly. jumped wonderfully. FAST and smooth.

Make sure you dont have the belts to tight, i had the rear one to tight(cheers Glenn W and James L), once adjusted the car was much faster and smoother.

DO NOT use an SX3/bulldog sx3 shell.
they let in loads of water and sand(yes shrccc is a little sandy as still new track) and the car resembles a beach after every run lol.

The proper K1 shell(being painted as i type) will be a perfect fit and will avoid the sand catching issues.

I would say, that after some minor tweaking etc, it will be the most amazing Cat yet, simple. Schumacher, you have, yet again, produced a race winning awsome car, this time, making it so much simpler and easier to build, maintain and adjust. WELL done the team/factory/Robin........ Truly Totally happy with it.... and i loved the sx3!!!!!

Tartman...................................:D:D:D:D :D:D:D

Must ask if it is just me doing something wrong building it. Think there is way too much bump steer. Anyone else? Was very tired building it ;)

But so far the nicest car I have had the pleasure to assemble.

EDIT: I am an idiot. Regretted ever posting this but I leave it so if anyone else got the same issue. Solution! Read the instruction manual and assemble it correctly. Do pay attention to whats right or left ;). No more bump steer.

minimini 14-12-2012 11:12 AM

Nice car :)

minimini 14-12-2012 11:16 AM

I think sooner or later J-concept/Proline will release a bulldog shell with undertray......:)

DeMogoobra 14-12-2012 03:05 PM

I figured that out myself right after I wrote that post ;)
That is why I edited it. But thank you man!

front belt

Hello all,

Lovely car, I'm putting mine together right now.
In my case the front belt is pretty tight, I don't even need
the front tensioner, is this normal?
I can't seem to get it as loose as I want.

Greetings

Hans

Not a massive Schumacher fan but this car looks great. Looks so much better than the SX3.

Could even be tempted.....

belts

Hello all,

After fiddling with it I still can't figure out what I did wrong.
I even counted he tooth of the the front belt (132) and the belts are installed properly. I checked the fences of the pully's, I even installed
the front pully without fences to be sure.
Still the tight front belt, I'm going to take the advice from someone here
and mail schumacher.
Thanks for the tips anyway.

Greetings

reply from Schumacher

Hello all,

Trish from schumacher gave me a reply, he told me : to file the edges of the carbon fibre faces which touch the front and rear transmission housings. The amount you need to file off is very small. I would also back off all of your screws under the chassis and assemble your top deck and then tighten the under chassis screws a star formation and then you should have more slack and again after running it you will find it will loosen up over a couple of runs.

I did just that and it helped, I wouldn't consider it a loose belt but it gave me
a little bit of slack. Very swift reply from Schumacher as usual.
Confident that it will get looser after I've run it a few times.
For that the weather needs to clear up for a lack of decent indoor off-road
venues in Holland........

Greetings

Hans
