I'm gonna drive on the Belgian Track ATR next week (personal training).
It's a (great!) dirt track.

any tips on which setup will suit my pred best (x10 with BB shocks) AND most of all, which tyres I should use.

mattym0310 22-12-2008 07:41 PM

Jeff is probably the best person to talk too because he runs in the states on dirt. If he doesn't answer the thread then the next best thing will be to start with niggs98's worksop setup :)

Lowie 22-12-2008 08:43 PM

I'll contact Jeff through RCTech, thx
In the mean time I thouht I post a link with some pics of this track:

hesitated between this thread and the other sticky Set-Up-thread, but this one mentiones "questions" so ...

I allready annoyed Niggs with my questions about this and I will certainly give his methods a try ... but I think it would beinteresting to hear some more tricks, methods ...

How do you protect your car .. and the electronics when running on a wet or/and muddy track?
Anyone having some pictures of that?

Niggs told me he uses balloons and after putting the electric components in ballons and closing these firmly, double-side-tapes them into the car.
I was amazed this could be done.
Nigs even told me he sometimes sticks the motor in a balloon too.

(I have a probably muddy race comming up this weekend, that's why)

SO please if you have some more tips and preferable even pictures (as these explain easier for us, non-english-speaking-but-oOple-visiting earthmen) ...
thx in advance

I simply use duck tape to cover the holes on the bottom of the chassis, as well as over vents in the shell to stop mud and water getting in.

Then i just put some cotton wool around the main areas water could still get in (front shocks and rear of shell) and also around the electrics to soak up the little water that does get in.

mattym0310 10-03-2009 08:07 PM

I use blue tack aswell. I stick this over the sensor wire ends, the led's of the speed controller and the plugs for the receiver.

Panic 10-03-2009 08:28 PM

I use balloons and cover the body holes with electrical tape. Also velcro will be good to use all around the body to seal everything in it .

Sure its challenging to run into mud and rain but the most challenging thing is to clean your buggy afterwards :D:D:D

Lowie 14-03-2009 11:16 PM

a new question.

I bought my X11 second hand and the rear shocks had longer shockshafts mounted.
I now found out one of those shockshafts is slightly bent and I would want to replace it/them.
Niggs told me he thought the ones in ly BB shocks were Aero-shockshafts ... but I can't find a shop where I could buy or order those.

So ...
does anyone know where I could buy this longer shafts or
which other longer shoclshafts I could use/order
... to replace the ones in my rear BB shocks?

niggs98 15-03-2009 07:08 AM

easiest way is to just redril the tower. i will send you a piccy m8 then you can run the standard shafts like we all do ;)

Lowie 15-03-2009 03:55 PM

about re-drilling: I'll already did, just in case :)

but a pic would be nice, just to see if i did things right.

hi,

Was just wondering if there are situations where the small bore shocks perform better than the big bores (on the pred)?

Pred X10 and X11 carpet setup

Hi all,

I have a pred X10 that will be mostly run on carpet with minimal jumps, what would be the best setup ie shock oil/springs etc

I also have an X11 '08 lipo on its' way and again will be run on the same track.

Any help or info would be very much appreciated.

Cheers

Matt

Hi Matt, check out this link, http://www.teamnoidea.com/car-set-up-pages/team-xtreme/

I have been posting some X11 setups on here throughout the year. There is one from Maritime raceway which was all carpet.
Hope this helps

Martin

Off-roaderMatt 22-08-2012 02:32 PM

Hi Martin,

Thanks for the info that's exactly what I was looking for.

I have looked at the Maritime setup, are both front and rear springs HPI ones?

Cheers

Matt

Team No Idea 22-08-2012 02:48 PM

Hi Matt, the rears were HPI blue but the front were standard predator blue. To be honest don't worry too much about the HPI Touring car springs, I was just experimenting a bit and they were slightly harder than the hardest predator "silver" spring. The car would be fine with the Predator silver on the rear.
As with any setup its all down to how we like our cars to handle and i've no doubt you will probably adjust things to suit your style but hopefully it will give you a good base. I know that the other team driver Will Johnson was running a completely different set-up to me on his car but he has a much more aggressive driving style.
Feel free to get in touch if you need anything/help and i'll do my best to help out :woot:

Off-roaderMatt 22-08-2012 03:52 PM

Thanks Martin your help is really appreciated

I will have a play around and see how it feels, I gave it a quick test last night at a local club on carpet with the previous owners setup but the back end was sliding all over the place and grip rolling

restimax 21-09-2012 10:15 AM

in the x11-08 how much is the standar anti-squat degree?

Rebelrc 21-09-2012 08:07 PM

3 degrees I think.
