darryl 18-05-2008 04:18 PM

you have some cheek ben the only reason your car is so clean is you have to replace all the broken bits every week ha ha:p

ben 18-05-2008 04:26 PM

Well i wasnt gonna lie was i. haha

darryl 18-05-2008 04:33 PM

ithought it was looking clean ???, anyway using brushed system at mo just for initial testing before i put gtb in, (theres not alot of room to play with)

footey 18-05-2008 04:36 PM

when u put ur gtb in u have to build a platform off ur servo and place the esc in the middle over the centre shaft

darryl 18-05-2008 04:40 PM

i had alook on the pred website and someone has posted pics and put the speedo down where reciever is and put reciever on top of servo, thanks for advice shane

footey 18-05-2008 04:41 PM

not sure the gtb will go in that way

footey 18-05-2008 04:50 PM

ive just looked on pred forum and the servo been used is not a starndard sized servo

darryl 18-05-2008 04:51 PM

will find out when i try:confused:, but for now will stick to cyclone and checkpoint

thanks very much
darryl

Garry Driffill 18-05-2008 05:29 PM

Looks very nice Darrl, i run checkpoint in my X11 and they dont hang about !

Which wind are you using ?

darryl 18-05-2008 06:02 PM

im running a 10x2, not sure on gearing as yet but have stuck a 19 tooth on

Garry Driffill 18-05-2008 06:04 PM

Thats what i was running a 10x2 and its mental fast indoor. Gearing wise i would go 18 indoor at york.

Are you racing at South Sheilds Regional next week mate?

darryl 18-05-2008 06:07 PM

cheers garry will drop a tooth and see how that goes
thanks

Garry Driffill 18-05-2008 06:09 PM

I would also reccomend a little fan aswell to go near youre motor near the endbell.

darryl 18-05-2008 06:19 PM

all depends if you throttle jam or not;), will keep an eye on temp of motor after first run at york, then if i need one ill get one:thumbsup:

jeff jenkins 18-05-2008 06:45 PM

what is the timing set at on your motor. i would suggesta starting point of 18 degrees and then go from there..

Garry Driffill 18-05-2008 06:52 PM

Yea its all set at the base settings, maybe just me giving it too much

jeff jenkins 18-05-2008 07:08 PM

yeah its all a matter of gearing.. and a combo of brush and spring i would suggest running silver brushes and the silver spring on the pos. and gold spring on the neg. perfect starting point if it gets too hott run gold/gold on the springs. but start out small on the pinion gear.

darryl 18-05-2008 07:08 PM

never had an issue with checkpoints getting hot, very warm yes but still within the safe parameters, timing on mine is factory set,so i just leave it be:D

jeff jenkins 18-05-2008 07:13 PM

i always ended up running my timing at 24 degrees but only with the alum. end bell and the spring combo was gold pos. and gold neg. but i also ran 9x4 wind and it is ballistic.

I have a hard time believing a 9 turn in a 4wd with that much timing lasted more than 3 minutes :eh?:

mw02veg 18-05-2008 08:24 PM

if you need a fan for your checkpoint try this if it will fit

well it actually gave me 7min of runtime.. its all in how you drive it and throttle control also all the power was only used on the striaghtaways and i also had very high run time sec. on my battery packs. its all in how you tune your motors that was my job, i used to work for teambrood racing i can easily get my motor to run a 5 min race with even higher timing if i wanted to.. :D

niggs98 19-05-2008 06:34 AM

to be on the safe side lewis at extreme rc does a nice range of heatsinks for the pred that will keep things very much on the safe side. temp doesnt seem to much of a problem as long as your vents are cut out to allow air flow through. the pred has a very free and lightweight drive system so milder motors can be used to make the car easier to drive whilst still being as quick as everyone else

I ran mine like that Rich for a few meetings, i sort of rebuilt the motor as i did when racing on road. It was only after a few meetings that i realised why i was killing brushes so quick:lol:

Kit setting actually feels nicer off road, it gives the car more torque and feel lower down the powerband:)

Arn't the TC bods happy to make 5 minutes with brushed though :woot:

Lee 19-05-2008 11:30 AM

Yup, you just gear the bad boy so it doesn`t throw a wind:lol:

darryl 08-06-2008 05:14 PM

well ill admit i found the car very hard to handle, i dont suppose it helped with a dodgy servo horn, but found it rapid in a straight line but really twitchy on the front end in the infield, can some one tell me what effect the 3 rubber o rings have on the braking please i was running one then added another but didnt notice any difference,
thanks

ben 08-06-2008 05:22 PM

I think the more rubber O rings there are the more brakes you get. Dont quote me on that though lol. Best to ask one of the team drivers. Matt or andy
Sorry to hear you found the car hard to handle. :(

darryl 08-06-2008 05:23 PM

cheers ben
i did struggle especially as i was 2 laps down on a few people im usually a lap or 2 up on, oh well you live and learn:(

footey 08-06-2008 05:59 PM

your right ben more bands more brakes i got a tip and u just bind it with tape to make it a fixed shaft makes it 4wd under braking

Northy 08-06-2008 05:59 PM

Darryl, come see me at York ;)
