Whos racing what?

I'm thinking touring car or mini.
Others?

wes j. 09-08-2012 12:01 PM

Who are you :confused::lol:.

chris brown 09-08-2012 12:17 PM

The man from Del Monte and I say ......................... "yes"

wes j. 09-08-2012 02:06 PM

Most people this winter are going mardave/supastock crazy. Touring and minis are dead .

Dave Dodd 09-08-2012 03:01 PM

i'm running a supastox but there will still be quite a few running tourers as ardent has now gone.
John (smurfster) is trying to get all the tourers to run 13.5 stock for some close racing.. :)

Smurfster 09-08-2012 05:59 PM

Tourers though till the last series then breaking out the off road to get ready for next summer.

Looks like I've won again then.

jono222 15-08-2012 03:28 PM

sticking with the buggies indoor too me thinks

The Doctor 21-08-2012 08:59 PM

Thinking about dusting off the rally car and running that in Outlaw (or Off-Road if the authorities will let me). Need to make a chassis to take the LiPos first though.

chris brown 22-08-2012 11:41 PM

That sounds good. I liked the rally cars when we did them on rally tyres with proper rally car bodies.

if you want dust off your rally cars and race them please create a basic set of rules (motor, body type & tyres etc) so others can join the fun and i will create a sub series championship to the outlaw class. :)

I will be doing the same with the gt12 (13.5, 21.5 & g2).
means i can keep tabs on who's using what.

a bit like the le mans series, were you have the overall championships and then the sub class championships.

The Doctor 23-08-2012 09:38 PM

Not fussed about a sub-championship personally, but I'm always up for a trophy opportunity so how about the following. Principle is to keep the rules as simple as possible:

Any 190mm/200mm touring / rally car chassis
Any recognised rally saloon car bodyshell
Treaded touring car size rubber tyres (no slicks, no foams, no buggy size wheels) with at least some visible tread remaining
Min 15mm ride height at full droop (basically, if it's on the deck then it ain't a rally car mate!)
Any motor, any battery, no weight limit.

Better check my yok fits these criteria now!

Chris - dust yours off too mate!

Smurfster 23-08-2012 10:18 PM

That's what I call an idea for a championship!!! :)

them rules will do

i guess it doesnt matter if its 2wd or 4wd either?

cunawarit 24-08-2012 02:29 PM

Yay! I got an old Tamiya right here that fits those rules.

But let me guess, everyone will run 5.5t motors and do two hundred bazillion MPH. Right? ;)

Doubt it, well actually John might.

I would have thought the last thing you would want would be massive speed if your car is planning on going sideways at every corner.

Should be fun with the 4.5t in, should spin the wheels up entering a corner!!! :) hehehe

*off to scour ebay for a Losi Rally Weapon*

New shape focus shell ordered!!! :)

The Doctor 27-08-2012 07:59 PM

Wow, nice to see some interest in a Rally class. Great, should be good. I'm running my old HPI Focus shell on my Yokomo MR4-Rally, so hopefully it'll handle the brushless/LiPo power. Back in '98 when I bought it things were a little different! Think I have some Tamiya Rally Block tyres somewhere, and some of the Schumacher Yellow rally tyres.

I'm running my 6.5 just because it's the only motor I have, but I may turn the power down to save the drivetrain.

And yes Dave, 2WD or 4WD, it doesn't matter. That way if I snap a belt I'll still qualify!!!m :woot:

Would be good to see a few of them running around the track.

Aran 27-08-2012 11:33 PM

Not many buggies racing then :'(. Guess I'll have to look into getting an indoor car!

reg 28-08-2012 04:00 AM

Im sure i can get some rally blocks and a rally shell on my superstox:thumbsup:

saves me selling it:woot:

What makes and models are you all running?

I plan to run my buggy, the old rally car I have is really a backup plan...

Is there usually time for someone to run in two classes, or is it way too hectic?

Rally wise all I have is a rather old TL01 with some basic upgrades like alloy oil filled shocks, sway bars, and adjustable camber links... Motor wise, I'd be going very very very slow brushed with it. So I'll be running last :)

The Doctor 28-08-2012 05:24 PM

Reg - superstox? Do they have a 15mm ride height and 190mm/200mm wide?

Cunawarit - running 2 classes is possible, but is a bit manic if you're marshalling 2 heats & racing 2 heats on a night with only 4 or 5 heats!

Hmm, well that didnt go to plan, seeing as I smashed the B-I-N button on a Tamiya FF03 :woot: Wonder if I can jack up the shocks and try to avoid wheelspinning all the front tyre tread away....

The Doctor 28-08-2012 10:04 PM

Well, bring it along and give it a run - the more the merrier.

cunawarit 29-08-2012 01:57 PM

Just out of curiosity, what tyres will you guys be running for the rally cars?

I still intend to be running my buggy, but just in case everyone running rally cars :) I'm leaning towards thinking that too much grip with narrow TL01, with a high ride height is a bad idea...

Anyone tried this? http://www.modelsport.co.uk/fastrax-...roducts/365690

The Doctor 31-08-2012 01:18 PM

Whatever's in the pit box. Probably either Tamiya/HPI Rally Blocks or equivalent treaded tyres. NO SLICKS! I wouldn't worry too much about grip roll - just choose some harder compound tyres to get it sliding around a bit. :)

In reality I think there'll only be 2-3 rally cars though.

OK cool :) What's in my pitbox is so old it is coming apart in my hands :)

2 or 3? OK :)

Next friday (7th sept). Doors open at 6, racing to start around 7 (or when we get the track out!)

Please note that nobody will be allowed to bring their equipment into the hall until the carpet has been laid down. We need to carpet the whole hall to prevent damage to the new sports floor hall so you will have to wait until the carpet is laid and taped.

I've got the supastock but will be racing the buggy to start with :).

Aran 03-09-2012 12:08 PM

what time will you be there friday? ill try get down early to get the carpet down if I can

The Doctor 03-09-2012 09:49 PM

Well, chassis for the rally car has been made (so the LiPos fit!), car has been re-built and the electrics installed. Will fire it up tomorrow evening to check everything works fine.

Only obvious problem at the moment is that my left rear shock is losing oil even when the car's not running. Dodgy o-ring seal. Just like a real Focus!

The Doctor 04-09-2012 09:10 PM

It works! :)
