What name should we give to the emerging 8th electric class?

8th offroad nitro has 'rallycross', 10th offroad is what it says on the tin, any suggestions for cool names for 8th electric offroad?

Couple to kick it off:

electrocross
rallysprint
racecross

Poo Fingers 12-05-2008 08:58 PM

'El-eight'?
Electric 8 - like electric 6 but without the guitars and drums.
8-a-cross - one for all the newspaper readers.

Electrocross sounds pretty cool mr helliwell.

I know who you are .. doing a bit of car swapping are u . . . . . .

I'm sorry i dont think any of us can take advice about naming a new class from someone who's alias is poo-fingers.. :p

Southwell 13-05-2008 01:39 PM

Maybe thumbs, but not fingers.

Electrocross is the best so far.

Lee 13-05-2008 01:41 PM

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Where is RCbob when you need him:woot:

Electrocross is cool:D

James 13-05-2008 01:45 PM

How do we get a BRCA section for it?
I'm possibly being premature again..
Can we have a UK championship? i might stand a chance as there only seem to be a handfull of cars currently ..

Northy 13-05-2008 01:56 PM

I don't care what it's called, I'll be having a go!

G

bigred5765 13-05-2008 02:06 PM

Chrislong 13-05-2008 02:28 PM

Same here, want to see - can I have a go too??

Body Paint 13-05-2008 02:51 PM

I saw a Losi Eight with E-X conversion Sunday, I want one, I like Rallycross but the hassle of tuning them and the noise does my sweed in.

telboy 13-05-2008 09:45 PM

Would you run along side the normal 8th's? or run it with the 10th elecs?

bigred5765 14-05-2008 12:11 AM

both none ether i dont care i cant wait to give it a go

mark christopher 14-05-2008 07:27 AM

how about the SBD's
silent but deadly:woot:

Chris Doughty 14-05-2008 08:35 AM

am I the only one wondering why we don't just call it 8th electric off-road?

I think a 'cool' spangly name will age, it might sound cool now, but in 2 years, it might be out of fashion.

Northy 14-05-2008 08:46 AM

I think we should just call it 'dib dab cross'.

Will there be any rules?

G

Lee 14-05-2008 08:49 AM

No G rules are for *****

Steady on chris, thats just crazy

Agreed though, it does make sense

_JP_ 14-05-2008 09:12 AM

what sort of run time are we looking at?

I like the pit stops, its a make or break sometimes and keeps the racing close, but if you could do 20mins on charge it would be easier as I would not need a pit crew

Tim Ward 14-05-2008 09:45 AM

Has anyone seen the conversion kits Novak are doing?

Sounds like we have an easy solution to the conversion issue.

I'm up for it.

11.1v LiPo seems a good idea, higher volts=less current = more run-time and lower heat generation.

bigred5765 14-05-2008 11:02 AM

Ive read that run times of 20 Min's are achievable quiet easily, i just cant wait

In fact most 8th scale conversions run a 4 or 5 cell lipo which means 14.8v or 18.5v. A 4 - 5 cell lipo of the 5000mah variety should give you about 25mins runtime unless you set the car up totally wrong.

I can't wait for mine to get together.

I think at first it would make sense to stick them in the same class as the nito's until there are enough around to run their own heats.

Name wise, 8eo (8th electric offroad) and add a wulf to the end just because you can so 8eowulf. :p

Nick Goodall 14-05-2008 12:04 PM

I'm with Doughty, 1/8th Electric Off Road is the only name i can see standing the test of time :D

James 14-05-2008 12:47 PM

It's just a bit of fun...!

'rallycross' as a term has been around for decades;
still sounds pretty neat to me . . . and to a beginner i'd hazard a guess..

Nick Goodall 14-05-2008 02:43 PM

Ok ok.... for a bit of fun then what about Non Nitro 1/8th
Smokeless RallyX
Leccycross
Electric RallyX
Electric Buggy Supercross/motocross
Extreme Electric Off Road
1/8th Ozone Friendly RallyX

What about R/C Buggy Racing (Make it the standard)....

Leccycross is awesome!

I like the way 8eo look but no one will ever know how to say it, other than that...
E-Buggy
E-Cross
quite like the electrocross....

Yep - lets get a BRCA section on the go for it...

Pete

Can you imagine a scouser saying it without spitting loooads? You're not a typical scouser Mark, you sound quite Posh compared to say the lad from the Zutons or Jamie Carragher for instance so you'd be fine saying it :D

Belsten 14-05-2008 05:38 PM

megacross
brilliancecross
or swizzlecross

AndyF 19-05-2008 07:32 PM

But do you think that by increasing the number of different classes/sizes etc the sport will suffer. Fewer people choosing to compete in the current classes. Divided we fall type of thing? Already RC is up against xbox and wii.

or

Does giving more choice encourage more people into the sport as they wil find the ideal class to take part in.
