blitzboy 13-05-2008 08:36 PM

whoo hoo thats another trip this year the,,, higher the better mate :D

spenner 13-05-2008 08:37 PM

Was down there tonight with Graeme and Teddy Truman, well what can i say apart from 10th Off Road is gonna be blessed with one heck of a track!!!!

For anyone that attended Silverstone last year, you can step off the rostrum on to the banked corner!!!!! and it is gonna be bigger as it is on two levels....

There is 2 large table tops and a tripple, very large straight, also plenty of jumps, a large bombhole and some stairs. Multi Surface as there is likely to be a clay corner. Track will be ready for the June 22nd Mid South Regional.

The club have some exciting plans and it is looking good

Chris Doughty 13-05-2008 09:34 PM

I was going to offer some advise (downramps), but if the Trumanator is involved then thats ace... no need

good work guys, great to see big effort being put in by clubs and racers!

GPS1 13-05-2008 10:09 PM

Advise is always welcome Mr.Doughty!
There will be some more 'update' pics following Saturdays work Kev!

GPS1 13-05-2008 10:15 PM

The work party will be there all day on Saturday, from 8.00am to 5 or 6.00pm! If you want to bring a car down you can as we'll be testing parts of the track and timing the jumps!

Snapper 17-05-2008 06:51 PM

Work continues

Work today continued, but slowed by showers, on the Silverstone track. More work to define the track layout and jumps etc. Don't forget, we NEED HELP for the work party next Saturday to start laying the astroturf. Bring your wellies and gloves! A few more photos attached. The track will be all astroturf, with a HUGE two level wall ride, plus banked curve at the end of the straight, and several other jumps and steps. More next week!

blitzboy 17-05-2008 09:42 PM

looking good guys can t wait :thumbsup:

JCJC 23-05-2008 06:28 PM

Is it this Saturday 24th that the astro is being fitted ? will try to get over if we can, weather looks dry.........times etc ?

spenner 23-05-2008 06:31 PM

They will be laying Astro tomorrow from 8am until finish....

GPS1 23-05-2008 09:27 PM

The new Silverstone website is: WWW.SILVERSTONERCCC.CO.UK.ULTIMAHOSTS.EU
The ultimahosts bit will be dropped next week once everything is confirmed and goes fully live. This is just so you can all see what we've been upto and the sort of thing to expect!!

JCJC 24-05-2008 06:21 PM

wondering if a good length of scaffold pole up the roll of astro would make it easier to shift ?..........

this is not an attempt to be random

GPS1 24-05-2008 09:54 PM

Big thank you to all who made it down to Silverstone today to help out with the on going track construction work!!
Trying to get some lifting machines down there now to move the astro turf into place! Only 4 more weeks to the regional!!:o

spenner 24-05-2008 10:02 PM

If you build it they will come!!!!

It is exciting to see the track progress, but without some help it may not be ready!!!

Calling on anybody who can lend an hour to get down and help out..

Snapper 26-05-2008 12:22 PM

Work party HELP DESPERATELY NEEDED

The work is still ongoing at the new Silverstone track. The land has been shaped with JCB and mini digger, but we now DESPERATELY NEED MANPOWER to help roll out the astroturf. Work parties are required for the next 3 Saturdays, from 9.00 am, in order to get it ready for the next 4wd Regional, so come on you racers, lend us a hand!

Snapper 26-05-2008 05:10 PM

As you can see, the track shape is finished and should be very interesting to race on, with a HUGE wall ride, banked curve at the end of the straight up onto another level, triple motocross style jump and double tabletop, to mention just a few features. But don't forget, work party HELP NEEDED next three Saturdays, 31st May,7th June, 14th June, 9.00 am onwards, AND the next 2 Thursday evenings, 29th May, 5th June, from 6.00pm onwards. We need at least 10 people to unroll those VERY HEAVY rolls of astroturf, it's no good thinking "someone else will do it" !!! It's your sport, your track, your regional, so PLEASE HELP. For more info and directions email me at [email protected]. Thanks. Attachment 2962 Attachment 2963

We've found that if we have between 4 & 8 blokes on site we can cut 8x4 sheets from each roll and move them quite easily!! Had another couple of hours working on the track last night, finished the main straight and the banked corner at the end! Having the land drain's put in over the next couple of days and when the weather clears a bit we will finish shaping the jumps and cover them with the astro turf too!

JCJC 30-05-2008 06:41 PM

Are you and anybody there tomorrow, Saturday 31st ?

or is it all drainage ?

Mick

Snapper 31-05-2008 07:30 AM

work party at Silverstone

No real work party today (Saturday 31st) as most helpers away at National, so just planning/land drainage and minor work. Have found that we can get more people on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6.00pm, so working the next three Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and the next 3 Saturdays. All help gratefully received.

JCJC 31-05-2008 08:49 AM

Thanks Snapper, saves me a round trip, see you next time - nice day for it Mick

blitzboy 31-05-2008 09:31 AM

Some more pics for you!! Still a bit of a mess down there but its coming together!

Snapper 06-06-2008 03:49 PM

No work party this Saturday

No work party this Saturday 7th as most of the regulars can't make it. We got loads done on Thursday evening thanks to all the regular helpers and the local farmer with his Manitou ( a huge agricultural forklift ) and despite all the rain we've had flooding parts of the track. More land drains going in Monday, I will take some more photos then. We have astroturf covering the wall ride and the jumps now, along with the main straight. The next work party will be hopefully Tuesday evening from 6.00, and definately Thursday from 6.00pm.

And some more!!
There's a shot looking down the main straight which is 43'ft long!
A shot of the triple jumps, a shot looking at the small single jump before the sweeper onto the main straight and another of the wall ride looking up from the bottom. But the picture doesnt do it justice! It's much bigger than it looks!!!

JCJC 06-06-2008 07:56 PM
