Xray 10th buggy musings
What are people's thoughts / observations / rumours about the layout of this new Xray 4WD buggy? I emailed to see if I could tease out any clues but they weren't giving anything away.
I'd be surprised if the car wasn't using some geared differentials as they're proving their worth on a lot of tracks. I'd like to see someone try a centre differential / make one as an option - if Xray don't then I'm sure JQ will. Given the non-existant 10th off road heritage and background of Xray - and coming up against so many established competitors with big teams. How many people are planning to get their hands on this buggy? |
If they did a 2wd i would probably be tempted,i love the Xray stuff, but i just dont think it looks that nice, they usually look all bling, not RTR black, plus they somtimes go a bit ott with setup options,i just have a feeling its going to be what Team Magic did when the tryed to build a rallyX car,I would love Mugen to give this ago though:thumbsup:
|
It might be lovely inside - and a lot of things like anodising might not be finalised yet I'd guess. I just hope they don't put a brick over a vacformer for the bodyshell like they did their 8th buggy
|
Yeah i hope they do a good job like durango did with regards to the body:thumbsup:
They do make some nice finishing touches, like the silver edge`s on the ali, How cool would it be if they has diffs the same as the RVM cluches:thumbsup:...turn a screw to set them,no balls,no oil, simplessssssssss:woot: |
It looks a lot like the kyosho, I suspect the inside to look like a B44
|
it wont be any faster or slower than the top dogs, there are no bad cars on the market today.... but it ll ooze quality by every pore, because that s xray s point of difference and their motto:thumbsup:
|
id love a 1/10 with a center dif, would be a nice 410 option, a chassis slightly longer to be able to fit the desc motor mount an slippercenter. all the bits are there get it done durango before i try an disguise my desc as a buggy lol.
|
I'm really looking forward to it. I run Xray touring cars and have found Associated and Losi buggies disappointing by comparisson in terms of design refinement and quality.
If it is as strong as their TC's and has gear diffs and shocks that need as little maintenance then I'm very interested. The down side is that as their first attempt there are bound to be some teething troubles... |
Who makes the RVM clutches? are they for 1/8 buggy? do they fit dnx 408 ? I want to try them! Link?

Do you think that the car needs a bumber or not? That front alu brace looks kind of solid. I'm counting the laps that I've to run my Lazer still... |
From those photos is definitely is 1/8 scale / Durango 210 inspired with the plastic side pods
|
I thought there was some issue with the Aero car because it had a similar metal brace sticking out front? not sure if it was deemed to be OK or not.
|
128 wings, now that's a lot of wing testing :)

Ah, apparently this was meant for distributors and has been leaked?
|
Or... This was meant to be leaked!
|
Nah.... I don't think so!
|
in typical xray fashion, their shocks will be plastic and crap
|
Looks pretty boring based on what can be seen...
Hopefully it won't be another JConcepts / B44 clone. As the current crop of buggies are so good - this will need to be special to attract customers, if it isn't then it will flop IMO. |

Xray plastic shocks were ok on my T1R, but the car was transformed with TRF shocks. So far, I found only the Yokomo shocks to be on par with Tamiya's, although the Kyosho shocks on my ZX-5SP were pretty close.
Let's just hope that pistons are not mounted with tiny, self-loosening screws... Things are starting to get interesting again. There are at least three new 4WDs on the horizon we know of with the Xray, JQ and X-Factory buggies, and TLR capacities seem to be freed up also with the release of the 22SCT... I'm still waiting for the annual B-Max4 revision! :woot: |

loving the chunky design reckon it will be a tough little number . and it will be metric tools and bearings ect i presume hopefully they get the diffs and slipper right on it it seems to be the biggest thing a modern or new released car needs to handle the abuse we throw at em cmon xray whats happening and when are they hitting our shops |
This was quoted in rctech.net, unfortunately, were provided no source to see what rumors taken from the air.
